It also changes the track a little as I recall. They mentioned in one of Koopa's castles that it reduces the number of thwomps from 4 to 2.

I think it was last year that there was this incredibly funny commentator talking over.. what I remember as being Spelunky, but not quite sure. This guy was insanely funny and had pretty much everyone laughing all the time.
