Dang. I just finished basically everything there is to do in Scholar of the First Sin. Either I'm getting better at these games or they nerfed some of the bosses. Things I had never done before that I did this time:
1) Beat all 3 of the co-op DLC bosses solo on my first try. Honestly, this shocked me more than anything. I wandered through the Frozen Wastes and beat the double tigers on my first try, which is something I've never done before solo. On DS2 Vanilla, I think I tried that boss two dozen times before giving up and summoning an AI partner to do it.
2) Beat Darklurker melee for the first time. Took me a three tries, which is less than a tenth of the tries I had taken before and still never succeeded.
3) Discovered the majesty of the Pursuer's Greatsword. That counter hit damage...
Now that everything is done...i feel kinda sad.
Overall, I'd say that Scholar is about on par with vanilla. Some areas are better (Lost Bastille, Heide's Tower of Flame, Dragon Aerie, Aldia's Keep), some are worse (Iron Keep, Earthen Peak). I like some of the weird oddities they threw in like the hollow that runs away from you at top speed in Huntsman's Copse and some of the red phantoms. I don't understand what was up with the invisible/hidden hollows placed in walls that you can attack to get incidental items. That made no sense to me, but it was neat i guess? I also wish they would have expanded the role of the Pursuer further, increasing his moveset and strength and had him show up throughout the game. He's kind of a pushover after the first encounter, which is too bad, he's a cool idea.
Finally, I would have liked a bit of remixing on the DLC areas, just for the sake of variety. They're the best areas in the game by far, so they don't really need improving or fixing in any way, but it would have been nice to see an expanded enemy set like other areas at least.
Finally, I liked the lore aspect of having Syan Knights guard the king's gates, but damn, they should have bumped up their speed and strength, because they are some of the easier enemies in the game, and no stand in for the Black Knights of DS1. Also, their reduced representation in Drangleic Castle was a bummer. Ditto for the Mastadon Knights.
