I had no idea that Goof Troop was such a cool game. Not just from a speed running perspective - it just looks really cool, and surprisingly modern, in general.

Velocity 2x is clearly fast, but it seems too simplistic to be entertaining. I fell they should have moved up Axiom Verge in front of it, instead of putting it in the middle of the night.

...uh no, It's because you can't speed run Guitar Hero in a meaningful way. Think about it, you can't speed up the songs, the core game play is basically unskippable autoscrollers. Same goes with any other game like that.

I quite enjoyed the N64 Goldeneye 007 (or Perfect Dark?) run years back with that Goose guy. He might have been playing or coaching, but still, he acted as hype man.

Part of the problem is it looks like he's the only there who runs the game. The couch guys have been asking really basic questions about the mechanics. Kinda surprised, Velocity seems like a prime game for speedrunning (except for the length of the run, jeez).

That's what I was thinking too. Nothing against the game, but it seems like it could be one of those titles that could easily overstay its welcome a bit. It certainly looks fun enough; I just wonder how long it could hold interest.

This is definitely quite fun to watch as well though. More level variety would do wonders for its staying power.

I think the problem is that "indie game" is still used as a disparaging slur to ignore interesting games like Velocity 2X.
