Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

I'm pretty surprised the 2X speedrun is so long, before seeing the time this just seemed like a game that would be 30 minutes or so.

That is why I didn't end up liking the game.

"Boy this is fun"... "This is still sort of fun"..."This is ok I suppose"..."Fuck me how many times do I need to do exactly the same thing?"

The amount of people running recent games at AGDQ who started speed running with that game is awesome. The very first run of the marathon was by someone who started speedrunning with Splatoon. I wonder how many people are going to get into speedrunning because of that.

Ah man memories, when Fez first released it was amazing how we started to find out shit within the community I was in. Very fun game.

Edit: Amazing soundtrack too.

It isn't happening here, but the best thing with the devs skyping on GDQ is when they are floored by the starts and the skill shown, like with They Bleed Pixels last year, which looked inhuman.

Tom Happ (Axiom's developer) sounds like he's already seen dozens of speedruns of the game, which makes sense since he included an official speedrun mode. It's probably hard to have a lot of energy for it still at this point unless GVirus does something completely unheard of.

It physically hurts to watch guys. My stomach is in knots.

I haven't played the game, but is he skipping much closer save spots? I don't think GDQs are ever a place to make your "real" run attempts. Or retry a quick kill for that matter.

I feel really bad for him, though.

This happened a few times last GDQ too, especially with Castlevania 2.

He said that using a different save spot would ruin the routing.

Nothing is ever going to beat the brutality of that Pokemon run from a few years back.

Ah, I guess that makes sense. He did sequence break.

That was pretty entertaining though. I felt like he set it up before he played that it's very random. It just got... VERY random, not in his favor, hah.

This run is bad because of the shit luck the dude is having but it's made me realize this AGDQ we don't have shit Touhou games. The runners, couch crew and the games were horrible.

Supposedly the speedrun mode for Axiom Verge removes random elements, but I imagine he could get bad enemy cycles or something.

Anyone familiar with the next game coming up? Iji?

One of the earlier indie games right before it all exploded. I didn't play, but it was very popular. Kinda looks like Flashback, lets you play pacifist and stuff. By Daniel Remar, who also made Hero Core after it, I believe.

EDIT: What happened in the last 1½ years to make them so terrible at starting and stopping timers? Hah
