I legit laughed when he lost to HHH at Wrestlemania with the old ass NWO coming out to help him. Not only was it 12 years too late but it also made no sense storyline wise if it happened even 12 years earlier. If you ever needed anymore proof that vince never watched anything outside the WWE product, that was it.
To the point, however. I don't think they can afford to sign guys and give their history the silent treatment. They should treat incoming talent like WCW used to, with the announce booth touting their previous accomplishments. Make them dangerous, they have to be. AJ is too old to be a "newcomer". He needs to be a WHC threat from the get-go.

At least the schedule will be lighter for them, that is the only positive thing about this.
They don't have a problem referencing NJPW. Vince (rightfully) doesn't see it as direct competition.

lol. Other way around, dude. New Japan has a more physical style but they give their roster breaks between tours and book a shitload of six man tags on smaller shows. WWE, on the other hand, puts them on the road all year around.
Anyway, losing Nakamura and AJ sucks for New Japan and they'll be hard to replace. Worst part is, it'll probably end up sucking for them too, once the WWE inevitably turns them into jokes.
Karl Anderson and Gallows though, eh. Anderson can be great but it's been kinda hard to care about him eer since he helped form the Bullet Club, as he's been stuck in that number two slot behind Devitt and then AJ ever since and had Gallows as a tag team partner.
They fucked up Sting, they'll fuck this up too.

There's so much potential here. They can do an amazing invasion angle with Balor. At the very least, they can just show up and start fucking people up like the Radicals did all those years ago.
But there is literally a 0% chance they get this right. The most we can hope for is AJ and Nakamura getting an extended run in NXT ala Balor and Joe.

Yeah, they'd make a total clown of Nakamura before eventually jobbing him out. Even if they try, they don't know how to sustain a character like him as a competitor.
Nakamura will be nowhere near as cool in the WWE. Won't have a cool entrance theme/titantron. Same with Styles. Nakamura will get like traditional Japanese music with shamisen and flutes. Styles will get like emo/metalcore butt rock. And they'll have their move set neutered. AJ Style's new finisher will be a punch or a boot to the face.

Nakamura and Styles are cool but Omega is really the diamond of Japan. Has the wrestling talent AND can cut a promo. Can cut a promo better than Styles and Nakamura, and the entire WWE roster. Look at this motherfucker:
