Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

Love the shader for the most part, but this...

Her hair looks like a badly dithered 256 color image from the early 90s, but the watercolor approach to the outfit is good.

Now they need to make the curse look like actual glass instead of marker.

is spot on. That hair...

Anyone catch that update?

Looking good, Miriam!

I like that she looks to have a rim light that will make her stand out against the background.

Is this official art? If so, fucking Christ with the gigantic boobs. I mean, I guess I should be glad she isn't wearing Ivy-esque scraps of clothing but come on.

Honestly, this isn't quite what I expected:

I sure hope they improve the lighting and shaders a lot until release. This has a bit of a dollhouse feel - Not quite what I expected a next-gen Symphony of the Night to look like.

Its kind of weird, the concept are showed a more slender figure like Shanoa in Order of Ecclesia but now she has the assets of Carmilla from Castlevania: Judgment.

Of course they would ruin having a badass female character by having her entire tit hanging out.
The costume is the same from the campaign though...

Looks fantastic. Really need to see it zoomed out against backgrounds though, but I have faith they're going to make it look good.

It's from Inti Creates that is also making Mighty No 9. What else did you expect :)

This looks like Dracula x chronicles. Wouldn't that have had a smaller budget?

That is what I'm more worried about. Her design is fine.

Good thing they got a lot of time to work on it and I hope they use it to make the game look less like Dracula X Chronicles since that was the biggest fear for me when I found out they were going with this style.

yeah feel the same

New shader looks pretty good, just needs some anti-aliasing in there I think.

#TeamShowLessBoob, jeez.

yeah omg, what were they thinking??? it's almost porn

I think it could be to help show off the crystal "tattoo" in the distanced, 40 foot perspective. It's still completely unknown how often they will use the in-game models for a zoomed-in close up. Her boobs don't look so big in that far off shot.

Looks amateurish at best. But hey, those guys are behind Mighty No.9 so it might end up looking like some kind of HD N64 title or something.

Everyone focuses on the character but no one points out the more important issue here...

That they made a watercolor shader in Unreal Engine!

Sorry, personal pet peeve of mine when I see so many claim Unreal can only do "brown" and "roided up characters".

I keep wanting to not remember that these are the Mighty No. 9 guys. Fucking yuck.
It's like their work on other games (from the Mega Man Zero games to Azure Striker Gunvolt
to the Gal*Gun games
) doesn't matter?

It's a bit weird, though... the game is early in development so a lot of things still need to come together, but the issues people raise now are much more pertinent than they would be when development is wrapping up and things can't really be changed.

Personally, I'm not too worried about the look of the game right now, but I'm not a fan of how busty they made her look in-game (although that might be due to how she looks with a zoomed out camera, or other considerations).

That's not an issue with UE4 anymore, as developers have control over the lighting in the engine and can do pretty much whatever they want. And even with UE3, not every game had that similar look. <insert screenshot of GGXrd *here*>

Eh yeah they need to make that tattoo more glass looking, but the design isn't too bothersome really heh. I got reminded of this women from Order of Ecclesia with all this talk:

Sure quite packing it too.

I like big boobs.

I like small boobs.

I like covered boobs and uncovered boobs.

If big, uncovered boobs bother some people and they find it problematic I think they should say something and I would hope that Iga would see enough people feeling uncomfortable or put out by that design decision in the current video game climate and make a change that will push less people out and make it feel more enjoyable for a wider swath of the population and especially for women who were excited at the prospect of a strong, non-sexualized female character.

I won't mourn the loss of a design I like (see above, big uncovered boobs are swell to me) if it infringes on other people's ability to enjoy a game. Go ahead and change it. I fully support this initiative.

Nobody still says this. Especially since the new Guilty Gear was first shown.

Her bust size in general is pretty inconsistent from the artwork released by them, but I don't really see an issue with it in general since they can do whatever they like with their character designs.

The lighting is the only thing that looks a bit wonky at the moment, but I imagine that's not something entirely static and such.
