Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

What sucks is when someone is great their first time and then never come back. There was a dude back at AGDQ '14 that had a fantastic run of Viewtiful Joe. Just really entertaining, explained things well, and was great at the game. I followed him for a while and he mentioned he wasn't going to go back.

I remember that run, Viewtiful Joe is crazy fast at high levels, I was really impressed since he basically played it in fast forward most of the time. That game is one of my all time favorites, and that was one of my favorite speedruns to watch.

I'm friends with someone who ran a game at AGDQ and the fact of the matter is you really do go there out of the good of your heart. You receive no reimbursement or compensation for your efforts other than exposure. He raised $2000 in donations to afford going there in the first place, ran the game, partied with the other runners, and that was it. So it's taxing, requires a lot of skill, and you pay for the ability to be there out of your own pocket.

Not saying that AGDQ SHOULD be doing anything - just be mega grateful for all the people who are generous enough to sacrifice their own time and money to entertain us for the sake of charity.

Is that Nolan North?

in the game, not in the room. oh wow, they have a developer for the game right on the couch. awesome!

The tricks that always zip them to the end of the game always wow me.

I also wonder if any speedrunners have looked at the PC port to see if there's any differences for speedrun tech.
Just complete it in a certain amount of time. I think all of the speedrun cheeves have you completing it in the same amount of time
I just wasn't sure if you could finish it in under 3 hours legit without clipping through walls or other nonsense.
Time guy can't be expected to know when time for every game is.

It's always dumb when runners do the "throw away the controller" joke at the end, it just confuses people who haven't played the game.

I'm not talking about when the time guy hits time early by accident. I'm referring to when the runner says time and the clock is still ticking for another 10 seconds. I'm sure it's hard hearing them say time 100% of the time, but it can be a bit silly sometimes how long the clock kept running.

Loved that Halo4 Run; not a huge fan of the game, but I really enjoyed how he explained a lot of what he was doing any why, it made it much more interesting. I wish more of them would do that; I can't fault a single one of these guys for getting out there in front of everyone and doing it for charity, good on all of them. But some runners presentation can be a bit more awkward than others ;)

Yeah, even as someone with a very minimal interest in Halo that was a fun watch.

Oh, definitely. I've actually donated to a few streamers when they do their GDQ fundraisers.

He was on the Azure Stiker Gunvolt run a few hours ago.

On a somewhat related note, is Edobean an actual voice actor? Seems like she could be.

Yeah I caught the tail end of that which is what spurred my question. I immediately enjoy any run if he's commentating

The original Paper Mario has some of the best designs some Mario enemies have ever enjoyed. Dry Bones, Boos, Yoshis and Koopas especially. I'm not sure how to characterize the look other than slightly softer than those of its sequels (and I don't just mean lower resolution)?
