I actually had the same thought, that they are just trying to build up their youtube channels, there is no way they believe this stuff.

But after listening to a couple of the older podcasts I am not so sure, highlights included:

The CPUs themselves are effectively identical. The Bone's is clocked a bit higher which should give it a clear, if small advantage, but see above. The "multi-OS stuff" is in reference to the fact that Bone runs an XBox OS as a virtual machine, but it's also running Windows in another VM, and there's a third OS that makes all of that happen. That creates a lot of overhead on the system that makes it less performant than PS4, even at a slightly higher clock.

But haven't Microsoft made some noises about 'fixing' this, by making the Bone run an XBox-ified version of Windows 10 natively instead of the aforementioned unholy trinity? That should (theoretically) decrease some of the overhead. Mind you, not enough to bring any semblance of parity with the PS4, but enough to be noticeable.

Or have I understood the statements incorrectly?

I've no doubt that they tune the system to improve performance, but I hadn't heard about them replacing the entire setup. I just assumed they replaced the W8 kernel with the W10 one. Do you happen to have any recent links on the subject I can peruse? <3

Also a good point. It's easy to claim MS are the experts here, having INVENTED purchased DirectX, but remember they're the same guys who designed the system now playing catch-up to Sony's (which is basically just FreeBSD, to be fair).
