Surprised there's not been discussion of the scan line issue with the X34 (unless I missed it somehow). Seems to affect everyone model and Acer haven't commented on it at all.
Sick thread. I wonder why I never came across this.
I actually have the LG curved 34" 21:9 display. Best decision I ever made. Its amazing when it comes to my workflow and immersive when it comes to gaming. Never going back to a normal display every again.
I actually chronicled my PC build which features the monitor towards the end.

Replace it! You payed for 100hz. I returned mine because I didn't like the BLB on the first and got a second, everything so far is good.
Sick build and nice music too :thumbsup
So guys. I got this job at a bank and now I have enough money for a new display.
Acer Predator X34, worth it? Or should I wait for something new?

Tried 2 x34 today
1st panel would only 95, at 100 would black screen and not work
2nd panel did 100, but very blurry and bad rainbow effect when at 100
Tomorrow I'll try a third I guess... Pretty crappy quality control for the price
Sounds like a 2nd GTX970 to me. Not again please.Tried 2 x34 today

Sounds great! Please post your impressions, and if you see the pixels due to the resolution being too small for the screen size.
Sorry, I have not been able to evaluate the Z35 closely due to deadlines at work and Star Wars taking up all my time.
Anyway, a few impressions: The display is massive. Don't assume that it will fit on your desk, because it is quite likely that it won't, especially if you are using a dual display setup. I put my second display away for the time being, but I have ordered appropriate VESA mounts to free up desk space in the future.
"Seeing the pixels" due to low PPI has not been a problem for me, but I don't think I am especially sensitive to that kind of thing. I can see past it even when I am staring at the huge relative size of the pixels on the Oculus Rift DK1 display, so I am not very objective here. That being said, while the size of pixels doesn't bother me, aliasing is very noticeable if you are running the native resolution without anti-aliasing.
You don't need to use expensive MSAA or downsampling, but some form of anti-aliasing seems pretty much obligatory with this display. It is much harder to ignore aliasing artifacts when they are presented in a huge format like this.
My backlight is a bit uneven on a completely dark screen, but this is not noticeable in practice when using the display.
I haven't tried the 200Hz overclock mode or ULMB yet.
That is pretty much it. G-sync works as advertised. It is really immersive to play games on such a huge wide screen, but be aware that you will have to tweak games individually to get good results with 21:9 resolutions more often than not.
So, I grabbed an X34 recently when they came back up hoping it was a new batch with improved QC. However, it arrived with a build date of September. So this is probably one of the first batch right?
Has there even been a second batch? Or am I just being hopeful?
If so, has anyone been lucky enough to get one?
I also noticed that some of the X34s have different box designs (both G-Sync versions, mind you...). Did the new batch come with a new design or something?
The one I ordered from Amazon has an October build date, this is what the box looked like: http://i.imgur.com/1pa6LYy.png?1
Anyway, September isn't from the first batch AFAIK, those would be the August units. Someone from another forum got a September unit with the wake on sleep issue fixed
This game.... this aspect ratio. Can't stop.... so good.
That's a sweet rack for your controllers.

Thanks for taking the time to write your impressions. Do you think that it would take up too much space if I were to replace the 16:9 monitor?

Edit: Got a measuring tape, and it turns out that it would be too much to have two 21:9 monitors :|. I think I am going to wait a bit more to see if someone else comes out with a similar monitor to compete with Acer, and then replace one of the monitors.
Thanks.
So okay, same box I got. I wonder about that other box design though.
How's your October build monitor?
Just get some VESA mounts and place your web/surf display to the side when you are playing (or vice versa). My new setup when all components arrive will be a 40" 16:9 VA (no gsync) and the 35" Z35, both attached to VESA mounts.
I ended up purchasing a VESA mount for the Benq XL2420G. I have never used one before so, it's more for experimentation. Thanks for the recommendation. I think I am going to wait for a review of the Acer Z35. And speaking of which, I had a few more questions regarding it.
How are the colors when you compare it to an IPS panel? Do you see the screens brightness? Sorry, I don't know how to explain it. When you're in a dark scene, and the dark areas are supposed to be shown as black, but you still see a bit of whiteness in the black color. I think they call it back-light, but I am not sure. How does it compare to the colors produced by an IPS panel?
Have you tried the 200hz feature that the monitor advertises? If so, how is it? Do you notice a degradation in the colors of the monitor while in 200hz? Does the monitor require you to switch from different modes? Such as switching from GSync mode to 200hz mode? Or is there no mode selection at all?
I realize that most of these questions will be answered once TFT Central publishes their review of the monitor, but since you already have it. I figured that I might as well ask you.
Sorry, I lost myself in epic Rust adventures with my new display.
Regarding the first question, the darks are a lot darker than on IPS screens. It is a very noticeable difference, especially in games that use completely dark areas. Actually, Rust has a lot of that (day/night cycle that goes close to pitch black, and dungeons that are completely dark), so I am immediately reaping the benefits of my purchase! Staring at IPS glow like I did with my XB270HU (that I will probably sell soon if I can not find a use for it) is horrible, but it is only really unbearable in games that use completely dark areas.
Regarding the paragraph that I bolded, I haven't really tried that mode yet. It is definitely something you have to activate in the display UI, though. 200Hz refresh rates are not selectable in NVIDIA control panel until you check the overclock option in the display UI. I also think you have to restart your computer (read it somewhere, but not sure if it is true) to see the change in NVIDIA control panel.
Apologize for the Steam quality images , but I am in legitimate shock that Sonic Adventure 2 plays completely fine in ultrawide. Cutscenes included. No black bars here.

The X4071UHSU-B1 from iiyama. Note that vertical alignment will not be possible with a display of this size with most desktop VESA mounts. I am very happy with my new web/work setup overall, although I have to run in 30hz mode until I invest in some new apple hardware with better output options (my 2012 mac mini failed me ...). I am thinking of buying a skylake intel nuc, using it temporarily, and transforming it into server when I finally get new apple stuff, but I have been over-zealous with mediacenter/server shopping the last couple of years, so it is probably better to just wait.
Did you never get used to more than 60hz? I was eyeing this monitor too for work, but I think I cannot stomach the 60hz. This monitor is also not flicker free and when you use the blue light reducer the backlight starts to flicker, although only noticable on camera. Still, this would cause easier eye fatigue than a monitor with more hz and flicker free. There is also a public display version to this monitor with a steel frame and no feet/stand at all.
Edit: Looking at the link it does say flicker free.. Then I was probably watching a review of the public display version.
Well I went ahead and decided to go with the lg 29um57-p got a good deal, will post updates on my setup tomorrow.
