Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

Seriously. If you have a run that's dependent on getting the correct number of stair climbs, you should have a consistent way of counting.

As a big FF1 fan, my secondhand embarrassment is real right now.

I think the worst part is not that the stairs method is so boring, but that actually speedrunning the game is an incredibly fun and entertaining endeavor because there's so much RNG involved. Everyone would have loved watching a full speedrun of the game (which goes around 2-3 hours).

I know the point is to finish the game as quickly as possible but I don't see the point of showing something that requires nothing but basic skill and A LOT of repetition. That was really boring.

Yeah... I was looking forward to the run when I didn't realize it was credits warp. I'm both disappointed and embarrassed right now, especially since it was a donation incentive.

We probably won't see actual FF1 runs at GDQ now because of this. :/

Well that was disappointing.

I don't know what Buster is, but I'm looking forward to the Mega Man Classic block! I've never seen MM10 speedrun before.

What happened? Sounds like something embarrassing so I'm too scared to watch.

They were trying to show off a FF1 credits warp that required climbing up and down stairs for about 3 minutes to setup, but ended up fucking up twice.

This is what would have happened if it didn't crash btw.

It had a 8min estimate, I don't think anyone should have expected anything remotely similar to a normal run.

A jist of it

edit:beaten climbing up the stairs
So all you have to do is to walk up and down some stairs a bunch of times and then you beat the game? Sounds like a fun run.

And how do you fuck it up if that is all you need to do? Lol.

Why does this have Goldeneye Dam music lol?

Also, was the Halo 4 run any good? Like tricks/sequence break or insane strats, or was it just somebody who's really good at Halo 4.

Like a lot of these warps, it involves first filling the buffer (climbing the stairs) so you can start overwriting code through precise inputs.

I thought Buster was going to be a Megaman derivative given its placement on the schedule.

Sounds like FF was a disaster.

SoBayed WHERE ARE YOU NOW ONODERA FANSHITS SoBayed YOU THINK SHE IS THE PROMISED GIRL HUH SoBayed RAKU IS BANG ING CHITOGE NOW SoBayed

I don't see how it's any worse than the Mario World or OoT glitch warps.

While I generally agree with you, it's worth stating that there is a major difference between those runs. The OOT and Mario World runs have constant movement and interesting things happening that go into their credit warp. This run was about as repetitive and uninteresting (as far as the actual execution) as you can get.

The end result may be the same, but the meat of the other runs were way more fun to watch.
