Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

I never played MM2 so I didn't realize how much shovel knight takes from it when I played through it. I guess I should finally play megaman but this shit looks hard

There are definitely harder NES games, but the classic MMs get their reputation for being extremely punishing. The Anniversary collection comes out either this month or next month.

Duckfist is killing it, always great to watch.

So is Gyre, too bad about that FF run. Man, I've never seen the stair skip failed, especially twice in a row.

YachtClub loves Mega Man. They do an entire "Mega May" where they play every Mega Man game.

BTW will there not be a Super Metroid 4-way race tomorrow?

I was wondering why you said this, then I checked the schedule and... why is there only one person listed by Super Metroid? That's a good question. Is it not going to be a race this year?

I didn't understand the "frame rule" stuff :(
Certain events happen on a looping timer, like say there's a timer that goes from 1-10, an enemy might be programmed to throw a fireball every time the timer hits 3 and 6, for example and then the timer resets.

Sweet ass runs. Loved the Pokemon runs, liked the Diablo ones. Awesome Mega Man and SMB runs! lol at the FF glitch that didn't work which is a shame because it would have been funny to see it live.

Also, fuck yes on Blechy being on for commentary, shame that it seems he is gone for SMB2.

SMB1 only checks whether or not it's time to move on to the next level every 21 frames. So two people could finish a level at slightly different times but if they finish within the same 21 frame "frame rule" they'd be on equal footing by the time the next level starts.

Alternatively, two people could finish a stage with only a few frames of difference but end in different frame rules and are 21 frames apart when the next level starts.

Nintendo doesn't remix the overworld from Mario Bros 2 enough. It's a great song, but I can't really recall any real remix of it appearing in a game, besides All Stars.

Schedule blocks are so long this year. Now for two games across almost 8 hours. Nice if you're into a series, but surely it also makes viewer counts go up and down a lot instead of having some stick around when one or two games inbetween disinterest them?
