Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

I'm glad this MK64 run is almost over. It's kind of a boring game to watch.

Can't wait for TASBot. That's always a highlight of the event.

I think I'm convinced that SMK is the most fun Mario Kart to watch, it's so fast and such great cornering. That race from the other day was great too.

Just reading some of the legit feedback on this AGDQ (waiting for this MK run to be over) and some of this stuff seems hella shady.

Sounds like a legit complaint:

Final Fantasy Any% (JP) was pure fail. They lost count 2-3 times and couldn't show off the glitch. They had to cut the run after 12:20.

At times like these, I'm asking myself why NES Open Tournament Golf got rejected.

Blindfolded Punch Out was great...
Still haven't beaten Mike Tyson even though I tried it as a kid in the late 80's and they do it blindfolded :)

Stop. Don't.

99% of that bullshit is from the god fucking awful speedrun community that exists to manufacture drama, complain about political correctness and SJWs and spam GRILL in chat. They have no fucking idea what they are talking about.

There are legitimate complaints and a couple obviously poor treatments of runners or situations but almost all of what's on that list is fucking garbage from awful people who aren't worth pretending they have anything to say.

Also, read on reddit the guy that wanted to see it at AGDQ (BigJohn) is banned from ever running because at a past event he flashed the cart on stream wtf.

rumors were confirmed that gdq staff gets paid over 6 figures ($167,500) to organize an event while runners had to fight for free attendance. all paid members are still anonymous despite the first paid members were open to the community.

Wait... each one of them gets that?

Yeah I've read that too, I found that hilarious, and someone like Stiv was accepted again, for his wife steal thing and behaving like an idiot.

- the increased inclusion of games that are not good speedruns while other games which are much better speedruns are rejected. example: mario maker and step mania.

Mad about Mario Maker and Step Mania, despite both being popular segments this year?

Edit: oh, this was added before the runs. lol

He was sitting on the back couch for a megaman game..

check his twitter, there was a misunderstanding with security.

reddit has become a cesspool for awful "GDQ Drama" it's all garbage.

I get tasbot just records commands etc. But they are playing on a live console, how do the random airand other elements not mess it up? Or is it literally just like replaying a video.

Ah ok cheers for clearing shit up. I was just reading these speed run threads after checking the sub forum out when it was linked in this very thread.

Unlike the other poster saying I have an agenda that is not true at all where do you expect people to think re speed running shit and coming across all this drama sort of shit on reddit.

It's replaying the inputs but it is finely tuned to running on a console and is prone to getting out of sync. I think with the Sonic Advance TAS run at SGDQ last year they had to manually connect the controller, pin to pin to get it synced.

The game has ways to manipulate stuff, and it works every time.

Not every game is like this BTW

I haven't seen the TAS Blocks from previous GDQ's. Were they just not as good as this was?

yeah, SGDQ showed off some Mega Man TASBot stuff that basically involved glitching through the levels and it didn't look cool or showy and just kinda sucked, unlike this Mario Kart that actually is fun to watch
