Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

this is all on the original game. It's really broken.

They're far apart because the run is hard as fuck and tricks can cost lots of time, and skuj's console was reset by andy in a great fit of giggley rage

Also, Skuj took a slight detour to get the level 4 sword/silver arrows for safety, basically hoping Andy would die more than him due to his riskier route. They wound up dying about as often, though, on top of the accidental reset.

Pretty entertaining runners & commentators. Those false "get ready on time," "now is a good time for donations," and sarcastic "hype" shouts were pretty good.

I just logged in after a break and all I see is a bunch of broken mess on the left. wtf.

That's what happens when you mess with VRAM on sprites-and-tiles consoles. SNES is especially suffering to this due to crazy pattern layout, NES is especially resistant to this due to most games using VROM on the carts instead.

Props to skuj for sticking with it. He was very chill during the whole run even after the reset incident.

Can't wait for Bloodborne, even if it's the wrong category.

It goes without mentioning that this is the initial Japanese release version of the game.

Despite Nintendo games having the reputation of being polished on release, so many players spend so much time playing them for speedrunning efforts that glitches and skips are found all the time and runs are improved. A lot of the time these can only be replicated on the initial releases, specifically the Japanese versions, because later cartridges that were produced would have these issues resolved.

Yeah Skuj is always chilled so it's "good" that it happened to him and not someone else who may have just stopped playing altogether.

Loved this part

What's the goal of the Houlihan run? Wasn't paying attention when it started.

Glitch into the "dev room" and collect all the coins.

It's a room that you randomly spawn into when going into that little hole on the right side of Hyrule Castle. It was a reward for a contest in Nintendo Power way back in the day.

I don't know why I thought Santzo was playing Bloodborne. I dunno who FatB is, but it should still be interesting I guess.

Super Metroid will be super late here. Not sure I will watch this live.
Can't wait to go back to a somewhat normal sleep cycle when the event is over.

What? Of course you can.

Well here's my question about Halo 4, must have accidentally posted in another castle:

Was there not a turret/mech sequence in the first mission? They didn't even mention skipping it lol. Maybe I misremembered

In the first mission? Not that I recall. I just remember using the warthog mainly.

lol no, the first real mission only had a Warthog. There's only 2 places in the campaign where you get to use the Mech.
