Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

I thought this was gonna be a lame run since it wasn't a race, but I had I forgotten about the lava rooms. This was insanely nerve-wracking. My props to Straevaras! Some crazy strats.

Missed all of today. Sucks to hear that the Bloodborne run was so bad, they really should have just gone for a different category.

Were the animals saved for Super Metroid?

the last metrod is the one at the start that Ridley steals.
I guess I never realized what happened to it. I thought it came back in adult form or something.

*edit* So yeah, if I was right and that IS the Metroid, I just watched it get blown up. How is it in captivity for the galaxy to be at peace?

Great run, shame about the dead couch though.

Oh for... It was at peace until Ridley stole it and the cloning program began. Then it wasn't.

In Metroid 2 Samus goes to SR388, the planet that Metroids originated from, and exterminates every last Metroid save for a baby she finds right after killing the Metroid Queen (ie the final boss,) who thinks Samus is its mother and follows her back to her ship, and she takes it to the science facility we see at the start of Super to be studied.

Super Metroid picks up after Metroid II where Samus goes to SR-388 to kill all the Metroids. At the end of the game you find a baby Metroid and it follows Samus back to the ship. It's not so much there is a Metroid in captivity but rather the rest are all dead.

It's late so I need to sleep but AGDQ 2016 was good, I was worried that this one was going to be sour due to the events running up to it but it turns out well, some issues with games and such but it always happens.

Maybe next time we can get the safer, more entertaining runs to finish up!

Yeah I got it now, I just forgot the quote was from the start. Sorry!

I'm not sure why people are saying today was weak. I thought it was a great final day. Mario Galaxy was great. The Ratchet/Jak/Crash/Spyro block was great. Shovel Knight was great. Zelda was great. Super Metroid may have had some deaths, but it was interesting to see the game played like that, and that dude has balls to even attempt something like that during a live marathon.

Bloodborne was the only run that kinda sucked, but that's not enough to ruin the whole day.

Have there been any awesome cringe moments this year? I am looking for something like the infamous Crash Bandicoot 2 and Tomba 2 runs.

One of MK8's commentators was basically Mirroed 2.0 and the ALttP RBO race had a nasty incident where Andy accidentally resets his opponent's console but forgets to apologize for it.

It seems like such an odd choice to end the marathon with, IMO.

They usually end with a popular RPG. This is actually the second time they end with FF4, first was back in 2011, which I believe was the first time I started watching these things.
