There were a few deaths in Bloodborne, in a category that ran a patch with minute long loading screens.
The MK8 commentary was pretty rough. Bloodborne was a category that people don't really find interesting.
Edit: On the plus side, I was pleasantly surprised by and really enjoyed the Ratchet run this morning.

It's abit of an overreaction to be honest, today has been fantastic. TASbot alone makes it amazing.
Been super rough day sadly.
Just got back from Star Wars (pretty damned entertaining) in time for a very dull Bloodborne ending and this Metroid run, which is nowhere near as exciting as I hoped it would be.
This is a game that seems best done as a race.
On the MK8 discussion, I agree the commentary was getting super overkill on that one. I had actually donated a pretty hefty chunk of cash and was surprised they didn't read it (or they read it after I left, but probably not). Guy was talking nonstop and not even saying interesting things, just talking to talk.
Sounds like TASBot was good though.

Bloodborne was played to the point where he died about 6 times and the game was the launch version so 50 second load times, and the speedrun has quite a few warps in it.
Super Metroid has had two deaths so far but the start of RBO is tricky, just a shame that everyone is rather quiet.

I think the "HE DIED ONCE SPEEDRUNNING IS RUINED FOREVER" and similar negative posts here are fucking stupid, but I'd say that it would have been better for 2p1c to be tonight's run and this one to be the bonus for the other day.

I think that talk is stupid too, but I think that combined with boring commentary is really killing this Super Metriod run, so people are getting bored/frustrated.

It's not diehard%, so it won't feature any stairs walking, but it will probably feature a battle where they farm a respawning enemy to level up some characters.

AGDQ and SGDQ's animal bidding wars each made $360k last year. Wouldn't surprise me if this one hit that mark too in the last hour, especially if there's a last minute troll snipe like there was at both of last year's runs.
That's another good point...if it's a non-legitimate (loading a backup save), weird category Super Metroid run that's going to be slow and not worried about world record time anyway (wouldn't be legitimate plus deaths thus far), why would people want the animals killed? They only cost a tiny bit of time even if it were a legitimate, close-to-record run, which it isn't.
And if the couch and viewers don't like the run, I would think there wouldn't be as much investment into it. But, I guess people didn't realize it would be this way?

It's a great run, but it requires great execution.
I'm honestly amazed there have been so many botches.
As soon as he gets past Norfair it's smooth sailing. It's the hardest part of the run.

And there's another death. I heard one of the couch comms say that this wasn't a very marathon-friendly run. So why even have it?

Because Super Metroid is played as the grand finale at every GDQ, so they feel the need to do something each time to make it different from previous GDQs, be it a race or a weird condition.
Like I said earlier, 2p1c would probably have been better for this slot, but I get why they're doing this here.

Yeah I'm still really enjoying it. It isn't really about the records after all, I trust this guy can shave some seconds off.

I don't believe Super Metroid was the grand finale at any GDQ. It usually is among the last few games, but I'm struggling to remember any GDQ where it was the final game.
