Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

I'm really not looking forward to that empty feeling when this thing ends. It always happens. I know there's literally days worth of stuff I still haven't seen in the archives, but... it's not the same.

Yeah, controlling the number of steps you take is a method of controlling the game's random factors. They're not manually counting on the fly, mind you, they just know the paths to walk to make the number of steps they need to make. They were talking earlier about how the dwarf castle can be pretty scary because the walking paths of NPCs can force you to throw off your step count.
 
I'm not a fan of ending things off with an RPG, either. Super Metroid seemingly brings in the most donations, so they should ideally end with that.

Does anyone know if there will be a "bonus" stream, like the previous years?
 
Sorry I know this has been asked many times in this thread, but which runs are worth watching this year? I've only seen the Mario Maker race and that was a lot of fun. Any other recommendations?
 
I was jumping around the past broadcasts on the GDQ twitch page and caught a bit of the Super Mario Galaxy run, and I was surprised that the runner complained about how the controls lock to whatever direction that you hold when on the small planetoids, making Mario and Luigi run around them forever, calling it bad controls. You'd think he'd appreciate the design decision behind that
 
Another year, another AGDQ finished.

Only the people who joined Gaf Chat are the true heroes of this run. Will never forget.

Thankfully now that this over I get to finally play video games.
 
It's always bittersweet watching these events come to an end. Awesome year for AGDQ. The schedule was packed and they managed to recapture some of the cozy home-y feel that's been missing from the last few years. Most importantly, though, a lot of money was raised for a good cause.
 
I remember one year at SGDQ I think where the stream continued for like a week after the even ended with people just coming on and playing random games. It was really fun! Whatever happened to that? Just too expensive to get the hotel for all that extra time?

Bonus streams usually start the day after GDQ from what I remember. Unless they specifically said they weren't doing a bonus stream this year?
