Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

Why does the PS4 version of this game have weird black lines textured in the character models? It's hard to explain and it's fairly subtle but it just looks weird. It looks really noticeable on R. Mika.

Concessions they apparently had to make for the PS4 version. PC version doesn't have it.

Quick question if anybody can help me. Every time I launch the SFV Beta app from my PS4 it gives me this error - "Not Enough Storage Space". I currently have over 25GB of empty storage space. Anyway to resolve this issue?

I've had that problem a few times. Restarting the console did the trick for me.

Which is weird since the game is not even that great visually. The background stages are low poly as hell

Yeah this is not even the best looking fighter out, this is less of a concession since this game is not pushing the ps4 and more of resources being allocated to fighting mechanics over looks. I think this game is being pushed out pretty quickly and that's one of the negatives is slightly crappy visuals

not only is forgotten waterfall ugly as shit (even on PC), but the lighting on the characters on that stage is also way less appealing than some of the other stages. the disparity with that stage is confusing me. it's just hard to look at MKX or T7 stages and not feel a bit underwhelmed with some of the SFV (some are really great though). I also feel like Marvel and Xrd did a pretty decent job in having a lot of stuff/characters going on in the background without it seeming so... intrusive?

So, I'm curious, is the competition that great on the beta? I saw on here that it was live, so i went ahead and jumped on into training just to see how it looks. I'm at work on my laptop, so I figure i can at least just mess around with the movement and stuff using the keyboard. Then i get thrown into a match (i didn't realize matchmaking is on).

I actually pull a draw using the the wasd controls, then actually win like 2 more matches out of the next four, and none of them were very one sided.

There is NO way should have won ANY round using a keyboard. Much to my surprise pulling off combos and supers weren't too hard (it was set to put in as ryu every time, which probably worked in my favor, since he's pretty cookie cutter for sf).

So yeah. Just wondering if I just got lucky and got some newbies.

Yeah, while the character models look pretty decent for 60fps, the backgrounds are utter fucking garbage. I can't believe these were released in a current-gen game. They truly look hardly any better than those seen in SFIV seven years ago.

Yeah the models are pretty good (though some faces need work), but some of the backgrounds are just bad. The one with the waterfall especially.

Graphics are obviously low priority for them. The fact that after all this time, the VS screen animation for Birdie has his chain continuously clipping through his necklace makes this pretty clear.

I notice a lot of weird dots on characters. I don't know what the technical term for it is, but it's weird looking.

Finally reached 1000 LP. The rollback in the beta is killing me. Command throws always works against me. I do a Ex Genocide Cutter and get regular SPD from max range I get counter hit by Cammy's pressure while doing an EX SPD.

Rollback netcode takes a ton of processing power to do correctly.

Also, God damn I can't believe I'm running into Rage quitters in a beta.

Nah, you da GOAT
Tech will not save you :(

:mjcry:

Yeah it's like dots or lines, it's really weird. I don't know the technical term and I have no idea how that would free up resources. It's not a deal breaker but I hope it isn't in the actual copy of the game.

On my phone's tiny screen SFV looks amazing, the characters have this perfect plastic kind of look to them, like action figures (I imagine that's what they were going for since it's not hyper realism)... It's very aesthetically pleasing ...

But when blown up on my 55" TV there's a lot of little things that stick out...weird texturing here and there... And the clipping is the absolute worst.
Ken's hair coming through his shoulder? Come on. I thought we got past that with PBR in this gen...

I wish they would have taken some time to iron that kind of stuff out... And keep the 60fps.
Drop it down to 900p, I don't care, but give me some better fidelity...

I believe it's called dithering. Really common artifact on transparencies in Saturn and PSP games.

If you turn down shadow quality in the PC version you can get the same effect IIRC

The two rage quitters I saw also had quite a few LP, I hope they don't get to keep them. Capcom pls.

Dithering, AMD is pretty bad with it.

I only just realized you don't get Fight Money from losses anymore.

The grind is real

salty edit: fuck this rollback and fuck this ds4

Silly question but do you need a plus subscription to play the beta? Mine lapse a few weeks back and I was planning to hold out until release

I believe this is the first time I've ever actually noticed it. Haven't really had much experience with the Saturn and PSP.

You're gonna get FM from single player stuff too. Capcom said that beating all Character Stories when the game launches will give you enough money to buy the first DLC character at release.

So, I guess jumping in on a Rashid who is knocked down with full meter is a no-no?

Yes. Jumping is out when Rashid has full meter. Same with Bison, I think.

I've said before, slowdown is better than rollback. I know rollback is better for a good connection, but Capcom's matchmaking is never up to snuff.

That long term grind tho

I already bought the season pass, but I'm just saying

Hopefully Capcom fucks up and leaves some sort of exploit in day 1 that allows you to accumulate a ton of fight money.

No fight money on loss is pretty stupid. Something like this could really discourage casual players. You should get something, even if some pity points.

Yeah, it's dumb.

Really screws over players who don't win much (which I'm sure is a lot).

With proper match-making (and a sufficiently large community), you should still be winning ~50% of your matches, even if you are terrible at the game. The larger community thanks to cross-play will hopefully help make that happen.
