Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

what i've been doing so far after irish whip is ex peach if you're not in the corner and if you're in the corner, hold st. hk until full charge and then ex airplane. probably not optimal but it's a simple hit confirm.

You can wall bump them even mid screen. Do the rope toss, then back dash quickly. It causes the screen to scroll into them, they bounce into it. Then you can dash forward and do a qcf+k because they're considered airborne in that state.

edit: Or charged HK into ex air.

They nerfed the damage on Mika's mic buff, didn't they? I've been landing buffed throws that I thought should kill that haven't been. Haven't been following the changes, but that kinda sucks.

Broke 1000 LP with Necalli, time for a break. It's taken some getting used to, but I'm finally getting the hang of using his charge moves in combos to get more knockdowns.

Ok, finally got to get in on the beta. 2 mins in training and I get challenged- even though I turned that off as well as put 'ask' on fight confirmation- have NO idea what I'm doing since this is my first time playing Mika since SFA3. Went from 0 points to 66 points (apparently I know how to block decently) then back to 0.

Anywhere I can get the details on Mika? A bit LTTP on this. No paradise hold?! Only one version of shooting peach? What kind of bizzaro world is this?! And whats with the mp hold/whip thing? What am I supposed to do follow up on that?

meterless mid-screen combo after rope throw:
dash back, wait for opponent to wall bounce, dash forward, QCF+HK (staggered opponents count as airborne for some reason)

meterless corner combo after rope throw:
fHP, QCF+HK (or cMP or other buttons for resets instead of damage)

You can link into the rope throw from a normal sMP (not a target combo sMP), so that's often the normal to fish with when you're in range or looking for a punish. jLK (cross-up) also links into sMP.

EX Peach has 1 hit of armor.
QCF+K is an air-throw if you didn't already know, but a lot of things beat it out unless you use EX version.

A quick tap of the mic gives a 25% boost to all throws (including critical art) until you either use/whiff a throw or get hit.

They cut the damage boost from beta 2 to beta 3. It used to give a 50% boost from even the shortest charge.

I don't know what the fuck to do as Bison v.s. Mika. She gets in my face and command throws me all day. Every Mika I've fought has stunned me, but I haven't been perfected. If I neutral jump I guess wrong and just get hit by some normal, I've tried reversals, I just don't know.

Please send help.

Yeah I feel like her mic performance was fair before because it's still hard to get a good amount of time using it now that people know what's happening when you do it.

Overall I feel like Mika was maybe nerfed too much in some respects. I can't tell if it's my play or not, sometimes I body people other times I get bodied. A lot of matches come down to the wire though and losing those feels so salty. Might just be the nature of the game.

That explains it. I dunno, it felt nuts when you landed a throw while buffed, but it kinda felt fair for how weak the actual move is and how easy it is to lose the charge? I find myself avoiding the mic now.

So only about 10% of matches are without lag/teleporting/rollback or delay, this is the worst online beta experience yet. I've never been soooo sour

Game settings
  • My pc is far above the recommended settings and my connection is fine.
  • Even though ping'ing is not a 100% true indicator of network performance:
  • I ping 8ms-11ms to google/yahoo/youtube servers, 25-30ms to Capcoms SFV servers.
  • In CS:GO I typically have the lowest latency of any player in the game (15ms) without any lag issues.
  • Playing 3rd strike on Fightcade = almost flawless (I even play people in Japan no prob)
  • After Beta 2 I switched network providers from Cable to DSL since I felt my street was highly congested with everyone on cable. Now I'm on a dedicated DSL line getting way better performance in every other game/internet experience.
  • Setting network connections to 5 bars doesn't solve it. It does stop me from playing 100% teleporting matches, but now the gameplay is inconsistent. Stutters/input delays/teleporting off and on
  • I also end up waiting 5-8 minutes per match.
  • NA player, I've still been connected to players in Mexico, UK and Asia. Teleport city.
  • Setting to PC only, the game does not obey this setting
  • I have an SSD and fast pc but still long load times and still white screen of blinding death waiting for opponents to load
  • Network-wise beta 3 was better after the first day, I was level 22+ Nash with 2000 LP
  • Now I cannot break 1000 LP, it lags, teleports, rolls-back, so I give up and put my stick down

Time to go get some mcnuggets to go with all my salt and sweet'n'sour.

This is my 2nd time playing the beta and I'm having the same issue as before. Game starts out at 60fps and after about 2mins of playing it dips to 30 and below. Feels like I'm playing in slow motion. Anyone know of a fix? I googled and saw that people were experiencing the same issue, but this was back in October and I can't find a solution. My PC should be able to run this with no problem.

24 matches with several different characters and I can't even win a single round...

I really want to get into this, but it looks like I might be better off saving my $50+. Yikes

I gotta say, this beta's the smoothest it's been for me, having just started ~30 minutes ago. I'm finding all of my matches within seconds. All of them are lag free. Really pleasant experience all around, compared to all of the other ones.

Caved in and having fun with the beta, despite my terrible play. Quick question for anyone , I see slight pixelation on either the character outlines or the shadows ... not sure which. It's especially prominent in character select. This normal or is this tv messed up?

In general it is smooth for me because I set it to 5 bars only. But then for some reason it gives me Canadians that cause rollback all over the place. I live in freaking Texas!

It definitely feels like they changed something for the worse. I played beta 3 against both PC and PS4 players for about 30+ matches and only had 1 or 2 bad ones. Tonight I played maybe 20 games, where I'd say 5-7 were unplayable lag (so much rollback that we were teleporting and I had no idea what was going on), another 5-7 where I noticed some minor rollback, 1 outright disconnect at the start, and then the rest were fine.

The worst thing is, even if I somehow manage to win one of those unplayable teleporting matches, it doesn't even feel good. I learned nothing, got lucky, and would rather have just not played it at all.

All of this is with connections set to 5.

I've been playing Street Fighter my entire life, and I consider myself to be an above average player competitively. I cannot win a SINGLE match in this game. What the FUCK is up with this? I don't understand what is happening. Everything feels so slow with a bazillion frames of recovery.
Slow? Games seems fast paced to me.

Yeah that's a good way to put it. Same stuff here man, glad to know I'm not the only one.

Yeah agreed about winning or losing with a bad connection. It doesn't feel good either way. Losing with someone who is on a bad connection really hurts though.

I've tried Ryu, Bison, Dhalism, Birdie, Rashid and Chun Li to see which was the smoothest for me. I've stuck with Chun Li currently as she seems my "best." Getting slightly better, but still getting rocked. At least the game is fun hahaha

I'd say Chun is a good pick. Godlike normals, abuse them.
