Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

Man...this rollback is brutal. I'm having matches where I clearly connect and the game goes NOPE! and then I'm being hit by their special.

That's nutso.

Yea I see all these people saying rollback is so amazing but i don't get it, normal lag sucks but at least then I don't have people teleporting all over the screen and suddenly getting unhit by my moves.

Put in some time after waking up this morning and managed to get to 1500 LP with Necalli. I should probably start trying some other characters tonight.

This is the tradeoff, you can have teleports and virtually no frame delay or you can feel like you're playing underwater sometimes. Ideally they'd retrofit the game by allowing you to pick your frame delay based on your ping with your opponent (ala Skullgirls) but I much prefer rollback style netcode to the alternative.

Setting the network option to find only 4-5 bar connections fixes the majority of issues I have with teleporters though.

Because in good connections rollback plays much better.

Lag is lag, whether they are teleporting in rollback or the game halts to a freeze in delay it's unplayable so I'm not gonna account for how a netcode plays when it goes to shit.

Thank You very much. Seems Laura isn`t a combo character, so she depends on the set ups and in banking every chance she get.

Very different from what I have been playing, but I will try. Thanks a lot.

She certainly has them, and she has good damage too. But...yeah. You're likely going to get set-ups more often than not off of confirms.

Anyone else keep hitting the home button the on the Dualshock 4? My finger occasionly slips during matches and its getting a little irritating. Got a launch controller so my analogue sticks aren't in the best condition.

When rollback netcode goes bad and shit hits the fan, it feels like all these different universes are struggling to come out on top: A universe when your hit connected, another one where it was blocked, a different one where your opponent hit you and a totally unrelated one where your opponent was on the other side all along.

Oh man. The Mika vs Bison match up is ROUGH. I had no idea they made Bison so completely defensive. Getting in on him is real real tough.

Yeah. 11 9/11's, Psychic spider people, the best ice cream in the world, your online win.

It's never good when the connection is bad, and fighting games are always going to expose bad connections more than almost any other game.

I guess I take rollback over dropped inputs. Or characters reacting late.

Yeah R. Mika's V-Skill needs something. People can just jump in and punish you easily.

I was using it as a way to bait people to jump and by the time they react to think they punished it I already recovered and either ex air grab or block, I don't do this that often, but it catches people off guard.. I still think it's kind of an iffy v-skill overall, but it has some weird stuff you can do with it like competing with Ryu's fireball game and gaining v-trigger super fast.

I did a cross up body splash with Mika and a Birdie did a super (the wrong way) at the apex of my jump. It somehow caught me. That shit strong.

How come when I turn off fight request I still get challengers in training? Is it supposed to be like that?

Take control of the dummy and start recording actions, you can practice as much as you want.

No one will challenge you as long as you're recording.

I had people reacting with DP to Karin's QCB+P right when I hit them it's ridiculous. Capcpom said to change the connection to 3-5 but that made me play people from Canada and Mexico.

A legit question why are people playing so lame? I've played several matches of people hitting me and running away with practically full health lol I just rushed them down and body them.. I hope no one here plays like that. If you so scared and hoping for a timer scam go outside and walk your dog.

I had the beta on Steam a while back but deleted it after Beta 3. Now I can't see it to install it for this beta. Anyone have this issue? I have the PS4 beta but I'd rather play it on PC if possible.

Got in a few more games. Did Rashid's roll to go under Ryu's super fireball which was neat.

Finally faced a Dhalsim, and I think Rashid will be rough for him. Took him way too long to realize that you absolutely can't use fireball against me, easily react with Rashid's fullscreen kick special.

Whatever works. If they've had success with that strategy before then I can see why they would do so.

It really feels like a mistake to play lame in this game though. Damage is so high and so many counter hit chances. Matches swing pretty quickly.

Won like 6 in a row with Cammy. Lots of scrubs though.

This would make for a cool win quote.

Fuck this rollback God dammit how did my command grab fail to register the animation started christ

If it got them wins before then deviating from the norm would be a scary strategy. I'm not saying that it's a great strategy :y

Does no one online know how to fight birdie? I've been having a grand time killing everyone with baby setups
I've fought him two or three times and I think I've got a handle on him. First you curl up into a ball and then you cry irl.

There

That setting gives me matches as far as Finland. Luckily they're pretty smooth.

They def improved Cammy from the last beta. A less than great connection led to what seemed like no recovery between a blocked arrow and a spike. This is exactly why I play defensively :-\

I keep fighting the same characters over and over again. Karin, Ryu, Cammy, and Mika. Ken army is dead.
Yeah, I'm honestly amazed to see as many Karin and Mika players as Ken. It is a refreshing change of pace. Punishing the crap out of Ken DP spammers is a wonderful thing coming from SFIV, though.
His confirms are so ridiculously easy, thanks capcom

Also I just beat rayray. I'm still a fraud but at least I can beat someone famous once
I know the feeling. Nothing like a new game to let us bums feel like pros for a little while lmao.

Anyone know how cross play between PC and ps4 is supposed to work?

Want PC, friend is going for ps4.

Everything's handled through Capcom's own service, Capcom Fighters Network. Once you log in for the first time you make a CFN user name. All you would need to do is get your friend's CFN user name and invite him to your lobby. Doesn't matter what system.

When you fight someone who has no idea what they're doing, it feels like you can crush them so much harder than in SF4/
I think a lot of that has to do with how much faster/easier it is to stun someone in this game. I feel like a lot of people don't know when to back off yet because they're way more used to SF4's slower pace.

Awesome, thanks for the reply!
