Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

Damn when this netcode is good this netcode IS good, but it's inconsistent as fuck. I played a guy against Mexico without a hitch but someone from Canada rolled back to hell and forth.

That's Fourwude in the driver's seat, and I didn't even have a lot of matches to choose from because he plays other characters besides just Zangief.

(at the time of posting, some of the videos are still processing, so please excuse any crummy quality)

Yeah, I've been waiting for this!

Punish whiffed moves with the safest damage whenever possible (aka don't bother with her command grab because they crouch jab all day). Her st.HP is a good anti air, j.lk makes everyone fall for standing grab, EX command dash+shoulder (followed by qcb.HK or EX version) will make them start tossing out hadoukens, qcf.HP+Sweep lets you punish them and connecting her qcb.HK special (or EX version) after cr.MK is of utmost importance. I usually fall back on the lk version as a pad player, but the extra damage and knockdown can sometimes mean the difference between life and death. Ken players can be really mashy in my experience. Karin's best V-Trigger move against him is her sweep and command grab which you can use as bait to punish them with her EX DP. Her V-Trigger left-right and overhead game gets stuffed by their mashy jabs.

Karin has a command grab?

ex shooting peach or whatever it's called.

Woooot? Karin's QCB K beats it?

Thanks for the tip

That move doesn't work on wakeup because it doesn't have armor on the first frame. Anything will beat it out meaty.

Mika has no wake up options, at all.

hence why it's only semi decent, it can work some of the time if your opponent isn't super precise with their pressure on wakeup.

But yeah. It's fuck stupid how useless she is on wakeup

Hopefully once she does complete shit in the pro scene they'll have to buff her

btw how do you know it;s not armored on the first frame? is there a site that tells you these things?

Wondering bc now I want to know if Gief's EX RBG is armored on first frame or not

Not that it particularly matters, but I wonder how this game is going to review. It doesn't ship with a ton of content or characters, nor does it do anything explicitly new.

Complaining that you actually have to block on wake-up is some scrubquotes-tier stuff, bro.

V Frames Android app or there's a spreadsheet with some frame data. Most of the stuff i still preliminary.

Tbh reversals in general are weaker in this game. You don't like blocking, you're kinda stuck with playing a shoto or cammy or necalli

There are V-Reversals. Use that bar.

I always forget these. How do you perform them again?

But with those you do need meter, which is another tale of reversals in this game. I'm not complaining though, just gotta get used to it.

Semi-related, how do you tech rise? It's not two buttons like in SFIV I think.

Judging from my fight money I won 16 matches in the beta, I reckon I lost about 20-25.
Learning to use a stick so I'm happy enough with that record.

Gonna be a long couple of weeks!

I am definitely setting the connection to 5 and filtering to my region. If they let me id filter it to just my block.

VReversals are F+3K or F+3P during block

Quick Rise, hit 3P or down on knockdown
Rollback hit 3K or back on knockdown

Yeah that's why I feel that I lose the matches that I do. If I have the momentum with her I clutch it out, but if someone knocks me down and keeps jumping around and crossing me up I don't know how to answer other than maybe an EX Shooting Peach.

Hey guys, interested in jumping in and getting a stick that works on PS4 and PC - what is recommended? I'm looking for 250 or less.

But just keep blocking! then they'll surely stop pressure eventually!

"so having litterally no valid option on wakeup other than "block" is fine in your oppinion?"

Some of us play characters with no wakeup options all the time in various games.

"But just keep blocking! then they'll surely stop pressure eventually!"

If you can't make the right read without a DP you won't make the right read with one.

Beta's been pretty good. I had a few hiccups in matches for the most part, it's been good. I even had a couple of rage quits happen, one or two with Cammy and one with Mika. I just wish those guys got penalized for that shit.

No pressure is infinite. They get pushed out and you find your hole. Or they don't have perfect blockstrings and you find your hole with ex peach.

It's not a great situation but this is no reversal boyz life and many have to deal with it in this game. For example, at least you're not Sim lol

Except the hundreds of time where I've known for certain that the player is gonna do something that I could punish if I had the option you mean ?

But whatever, clearly I'm in the wrong judging by how people react to what I'm saying..

You've just got to plan around these things unfortunately. I know it sucks, but if you're in that position with a char without an option to deal with it you have to not be in that position

I feel your pain. Bipson has no invincible reversal. Try playing this game when in the previous game you had an excellent invincible reversal that only a few characters could punish :).

That being said, they are right. Just block and get used to throw range / pay attention to what their tendencies are. Learn frame data when the game comes out so you know what to punish with.
