Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

So it turns out Zen was actually a character considered by Capcom.

Looks like a KOF reject.

Pray tell, if you can, how many stages were there? Is the Shadaloo airport one the last one they've added and if so, is the stage select screen actually asymmetrical then in terms of the no. of stages on both sides?

Shadaloo Airport was indeed there, and there was nothing new beyond that. Balance of stages on both sides of the random select was off, due to the number of options, which bugged me because I'm anal about that kind of thing. *heh*

I don't offhand remember much about transitions, though, because I was concentrating on trying to win the tournament most of the time. :D

This really is the go-to insult for a Street Fighter character design that someone doesn't like. I've seen it applied to Remy, C. Viper, and Juri. It doesn't even make sense to me given how intrinsically linked the two series are. You could draw any popular Street Fighter character in the KOF style and they'd fit right in with the KOF cast and vice versa.

So how disappointed are people going to be when Urien plays nothing like 3S

Well he can't play like 3S anyway because he was defined by the Aegis and how meter building worked in that game.

They have done a pretty good job of refreshing character gameplay so far though so I wouldn't worry.

I have a feeling they aren't in the game :( , Only the first stage got one and then they scrapped the idea.

I wish an interviewer asked about them. I have a vague recollection of a Capcom employee talking about "Easter eggs" locked in current builds which I assumed was referring to stage transitions. Can't remember where this was said, though.

Zen looks really boring. Gonna give my thanks once again to Capcom for giving us F.A.N.G, who is pretty much the best Street Fighter character to come out in years.

I see you got the joke.

I'm remember reading something like that too. More specifically, that they wanted to save some sort of surprise for release so they didn't show them off.

Super ugly. Is that supposed to be chest hair? It's not even a triangle.

I would be a bit upset. Minus unblockables I think his 3s design fits well into SFV. If he's not in a banana hammock that too will be upsetting.
He's probably gonna be in a cloak, right? I know Capcom mislabeled the season pass silhouettes but the first one is clearly Balrog, Balrog is probably coming first, and the one they labeled as Balrog has an illuminate symbol and a cloak.

There seems to be this undercurrent of doubt around SF5 for some reason. It's really weird to me. Like, there is zero chance this doesn't make its target for the fiscal and get to year two.

Even SFxT got an update and that game bombed. I
I'm okay so long as we get Alex, Ibuki and Urien. Q and Makoto will rest in pieces, though...

Yeah, I'm sure SFV will do very well. Good word of mouth will help as well.

That Zen looks awful, so hopefully not back without a major redesign.

Anyway. Since this game is confirmed to have a robust storymore that will continually be updated and seemingly be the lead in to the 3 era, I think both Sean and Oro have a high chance of being future DLC.

*Nods*

I don't know, I thought they did a good job with every 3S character in 4. Despite the slower speed and no parries in 4 they still translated well.

People shouldn't be so upset, I mean right off the bat you can expect it to be different than 3S since Urien probably won't be a juggle character. V-reversals are a thing and they can't just let you dummy your opponent completely negating that defense ability.
F U C K Y U N.
No one who actually plays Urien and follows the SF series will think there will be an Aegis reflector popping out every 20-30 seconds in SFV. We might not get double tackle into headbutt but his normals, dash and throw will probably still be good.

Well, that dlc poster wasn't even promo art. It was placeholder for promo art. So who knows how far along any of the dlc characters are.

That's....quite heartbreaking to be honest. To me at least. I mean, really Capcom, an asymmetrical stage select screen? Jeez.

I can only hope that this implies that they've already been planning to roll out more stages (as DLC or free updates) over time, perhaps so that every piece of character art actually ends up connecting to (part of) a stage. Fang's stage was even teased in a small screenshot somewhere I think, and the story mode trailer also showed a few backgrounds not currently seen in a stage yet. I also think both Necalli and Rashid deserve their own stage as well, not just Laura and Fang (if that one ends up being real).

I can't lie that this actually dampens my enthusiasm quite a bit despite liking the game overall, especially since I'd been holding out hope that we simply hadn't seen all of them yet...

Let's hope so. As said earlier, I really want them to try and create a new character based on The Raid and The Raid 2's kick-ass Pencak Silat fighter disguised as a bum as played by Yayan Ruhian, who actually helped do the fight choreography for the new Star Wars movie and had a small cameo in it as well. I wish I could whisper his name in the ear of Combofiend himself, if that would help him be considered.

I hope that there's a bundle pack available to buy all the premium content that excludes all of the actual unlockable content in the game. I'd like to most like buy the premium content in bulk, if I like the majority of the outfits (and stages, if they make this a premium content item, which they totally should), but I want to truly earn all the unlockable ones on my own. I don't care what the grind requirements are, as I'm sure I"ll play the game long enough and heavily enough to acquire them pretty quickly.

They should have some Elite level unlockables as well, that you can't buy with real money even and only can earn them by doing whatever it takes to unlock them.

Do you really, honestly think Capcom mislabelled the silhouettes? The silhouettes were revealed a while ago and they're probably labelled correctly. And how would you even know they mislabelled them?

And that's not the Illuminati symbol on the cloak on Balrog's silhouette.

Pretty sure Urien's V-trigger will be Aegis, so he might still have those chariot tackle juggles in the corner (then use Aegis). I wonder what his v-skill will be though (maybe tackle or headbutt, or another stupid anti-projectile move?)

What were sals leaks?
He called every newcomer except Robin (who Chrom was replaced with), Bowser Jr., & Duck Hunt. Chrom & the Chorus Kids were both planned to be included at the time Sal got his info, but obviously fell through since then. Chrom was swapped for Robin, & the Chorus Kids' franchise emblem (Rhythm Heaven) was left in the game's files after being scrapped for an unknown reason.

That's a very specific request. Why not though.

If Rashid with his moveset gets a tornado that lasts half an hour in the middle of the screen, I see no reason why Urien shouldnt have aegis.

I think Rashid's VT is very similar to aegis.

My predictions for DLC character move list

Guile
V Skill - Upside Down Kick (can dodge projectiles)
V Trigger - Sonic Hurricane (can move for 3 secs while Projectile is thrown)
CA - Triple Flash Kick

Balrog
V Skill - Duck Uppercut (Similar to Kazuyas move and can dodge projectiles)
V Trigger - Buffalo Charge (all charge moves are multi hit with armour)
CA - Buffalo Rush Combo

Ibuki
V Skill 1 - Dash
V Skill 2 - Jump Over (can add a shrike after jumping over opponent)
V Trigger - Teleport Attack (Ibuki disappears, then stroked from the air)
CA - That grab move with the fireball forgot the name

Urien
V Skill - Earth's Power (Taunt from 3rd Strike, the ground pount, but with a energy burst that surrounds Urien, good for Anti air as well as blocking projectiles)
V Trigger - Aegis Reflector (Power up, V Bar depletes slowly like Zangief V Trigger, and depletes fast as you do a Aegis Reflector move, can do up to 2 Aegis Reflectors)
CA - The Projectile move, SA3 from Third Strike

Juri
V Skill - Teleport Counter (3 versions depending on what direction you move the D Pad)
V Trigger - Sheng....Engine
CA - Super from SF4 not the Ultra

Alex
V Skill - Jump Grab Move (Quarter Circle Back Kick move from 3rd Strike, evades projectiles, can be blocked)
V Trigger - Stun Gun Headbutt
CA - Hyper Bomb

I have to say it looks so cool when Zangief and Birdie KO with their Critical Art and the opponent's body is just stuck vertically in the ground with the rubble cracked open. Looks so damn awesome but why doesn't R. Mika's CA do that as well? Given what happens it would seem to make sense, but it probably has something to do with R. Mika and Nadeshiko's models being in the area where the rubble would be. I hope they patch that in or makes it into the final game.
