So if the arcade story mode ends up being canon
Gouken is still alive, meaning he either beat Akuma or drove him away somehow at the end of Ultra 4. Remember, the deal was whoever won got Ryu, so I guess Gouken is training Ryu to use that nothingness power.

Probably how he'll defeat Necaili.

And Ed might be the kid that Balrog saved but I'm not sure. I think that kid was a girl in the first place.

Also LOL at beating someone in the arcade mode but still losing to them. I guess they want everything to be linked up and not messy.

Gouken was weird because he wasn't there when Laura fought Ryu but he was there when Rashid fought Ryu. There was no explanation as to why he was there. He was just there.

Ed was really weird. It kinda came out of nowhere. He was short, had blonde hair and wore a white hoodie. He was following Charlie, but was caught. Charlie grabbed Ed by his hood but Ed touched Nash, causing Nash to back away. Ed's hand was glowing purple and he had the Shadaloo symbol burned/embedded into his hand. Then FANG turned up but the guy from GAME started talking to me so I missed the rest, unfortunately.

Judging from your comments the game is looking thin on the ground. Is this honestly worth the £40?

I think I might wait on this.

If you are interested in the story, wait a few months. The real story mode is releasing after launch.

On that note, I'm curious to see how Capcom will update this game. The Shadow AI stuff in KI3 seems neat, so I hope they put that in at some point.

Ah, so it is the same person from Balrog's ending. I guess that's what he meant by his meal ticket or whatever.

Well, I'm getting the game no matter what, but if you're only after one game and you don't care about replay value then you might want to wait. Personally speaking there's enough for me but it is a little thin in terms of game modes.

Yeah, FANG name-dropped Balrog but I missed what happened next.

EDIT: Just checked out Balrog's ending in SSF4:

Ed is DEFINITELY the kid from Rog's SSF4 ending. Ed looked much older in Nash's story though. Like he was in mid teens. His voice was deeper too.

Great, looks like they won't be retreading all of SF4 then.

On a different note, I'm really debating getting the Collector's Edition. I want it, but I'm afraid it won't come in time, i.e. day of release. Maybe I'll just pick up the Whatever Box Japanese version down the line.

I just got back from my local GAME store where they were doing the tournament with the full retail release version of the game. I was the only one there so after I did the first round the guy from GAME running it allowed me to mess around with the rest of the game. I jumped straight onto Character Stories and did a few. I managed to take pictures but I got caught out at the end and wasn't allowed to take any more. I played Ken's, Laura's, Rashid's, Nash's and Necalli's stories so if any of you have questions feel free to ask.

The first story I went on was Laura's to see if Sean was there and lo and behold:

Then I went onto Nash's expecting to see Urien or Gill but they weren't there. Instead was the mystery woman from the cinematic trailer, called Helen. I assume she finds Nash and takes him in:

The last photo I took is a bit blurry (this is when I got found out) so sorry about that. I think this is Guile's new look:

If you guys have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Mind if I ask what state do you live in? and were they selling copies?

I'm from the UK but I won't say what city I live in because I don't want to get the guys from GAME in trouble. They were gracious enough to let me explore the rest of the game even though they could have said no, so I'm not going to snitch on them. I hope you understand.

They weren't selling the game though. There's been a tournament in the UK in GAME stores across the country this weekend and they're using the retail copy of the game. When I went there today I happened to be the only customer there so that's how I managed to take pictures and look at the character stories.

Does anyone think they'll do a season 2 story mode? Basically an anual story mode update every year with the new characters.

Ono has said they're doing a second season of DLC characters so a story mode is certainly plausible.

Oh I understand and thanks. I live In USA and im going to get the game in a few days anyway. I really plan on Playing this game on the highest level and I even took 2 weeks off of work to get started so sorry if I came off as a fiend, But without exaggeration, I literally think of this game at least 5 times of day since the first beta and I just cant wait to start this journey. Ill be ass in the beginning, but I want to be great in SFV!

It's fine, you don't sound like a fiend haha. And yeah, I've been thinking a lot about this game as well. I can't wait for it to come out.

I can't believe I missed this. I would love to have bodied people with my Birdie at my local store.

Anyways launch is incoming. When I get my hands on the game km probably going to avoid online for the first 2 days I'm sure it will be a mess. I'm going to rinse through all the offline content such as story and survival mode this way I'd get a feel of all the characters properly for match up reasons before I go online.

SFIV had a larger launch in terms of media coverage. It was like reliving SF2 in many ways. I'm excited for SFV, but I have no idea what they're doing for it. Arcades weren't completely torn down when SFIV came out and GameStop had that tournament for it. I have it digitally and the season pass.

Agh. They white washed him.

I'll be the first to jump on white-washing, but in this case, I don't think it's true.

Many of Bengus' story mode drawings have washed out color palettes.

I mean look at Laura, her face is dark, but her arm is bright. There's a random light source on her arm, and everything around it is lit up (including Sean's face).
She has a blue light source on her stomach. I'm not sure you can call this white washing...more like blue-washing.

I feel like those 4 massive, worldwide beta tests were way bigger than anything SF4 did in terms of promotion...

I hope balrogs story is a continuation of his last games

" This shadowloo shit is about to go under. I'm about to steal as much untraceable money and potential money as I possibly can before this shit falls apart, hide out and train some blond kid to box ,b. And there is this Illuminati they got some blond guy who's half blue and red, who even does that?! fuck this shit i'm out. "

That's true. They were very enjoyable. I'm not trying to sound negative at all and we did get to play the game as if we were at a con or an event. I've never been to a large scale tournament besides the GameStop one and one at the arcade (that took place around a group of people).

You can get people interested by the online mode, but the arcade more or story mode can get a lot of people in too. I remember the times talking to people at GameStop about it and the biggest part for them was the final boss. Seth was really exciting for them and then you had people who probably hadn't played SF since SF2 was out were at the arcades checking it out and playing it.

Capcom did an amazing job because I got to play characters like Ken, Laura, and Rashid and I was thinking I'd never get to play them. I didn't go to a Con or an event.

I hope it does incredibly well. It feels fun and I wanted to play more. There were a few connection problems at the beginning, but Capcom increased those. I felt like we had more time with the Beta than anything else. I'd sign on and see the beta was still going strong.

I guess I'm more exposed to the online store because that's where I buy my games. When SFIV was announced I was working at GameStop. It was a big announcement that I got to talk about with people at work. Then I went to the arcade and so forth when it came out.

This has been a very nice launch and it feels great. I guess SFIV had that revelation again in the domestic market with people reliving their memories and then their best with each character. Now a days its kinda easy to run into someone who is gonna just beat you without any effort.

What I was kinda looking for was a reason they're giving people to play with friends and family. There's one there, but honestly I'm looking forward to each character and what's going on with story mode. I'm also interested in how advanced the tech is gonna be.

I kinda got sad seeing those lengthy Chun Li and Zangief combos, but that was because I start out doing smaller combos to see what connects first.

One thing with fighting games is that you know you're gonna get beat by someone and that's not a huge deal. That's also a reason why story mode and arcade mode are so important. The game is incredibly fun playing offline. I use to love the arcade mode and then when someone came up to the machine it was setting the mood just right. I guess going straight to multiplayer is hard. You gotta have that time to practice.

Why are people continuously ignoring the fact Laura has been 'whitewashed' in the same pic when she looks nothing like that in game..

She looks much lighter than Sean ever did in the actual game too though. She was white washed since the beginning. I've come to accept it. Believe me, I complained a lot about it at Laura's reveal. I took a lot of shit for it.

How can she be white washed if she never existed before SFV?

I'm black and lighter than my brother. My sisters are lighter than I am.

You sound very ignorant right now.
