Nobody put their body on the line for the love of this business quite like Foley.

That one still takes my breath away to this day.

Mick has paid the price for all the crazy shit he's done.

May as well ban the Diving Headbutt.
I was always suprised wasn't outright banned after the Benoit stuff. It was always pointed too as one of the main factors in his brain damage.

It went away for a few years after but then came back into the WWE move lexicon.

TBH, I was expecting it to be banned way back in 2001 after Benoit was put out by his neck problems since it was a clear contributor to them.

Yea I never liked seeing someone do it after everything that happened, unless you miss it's a direct connection straight to the head, can't be good for you at all.

This has to be work. I expect Kane to come out after DB's speech and tombstone him on the announce table to start their Mania feud.

If its real...well then the wwe just lost their most talented guy outside of Lesnar :( :( :(

If this is a work, I fully expect CM Punk to come out and GTS him. I can't see how it's not real, and I'm slowly coming to terms with that.

I'll always love and respect Mick Foley for what he did, but damn, it's so unfortunate yet unsurprising his body is a mess. HiaC isn't a technical classic but goddamn it told an amazing story. Wrestlers are insanely tough people.

In today's WWE, the most disappointing outcome is invariably the one to expect.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
The top of the cage wasn't supposed to collapse.

I don't believe that for a second. Look at how the ring reacts when he lands. It wouldn't do that if it wasn't set upfor it.

It's pretty amazing that Taker and Foley went through with the chokeslam spot even though the zip ties (!!!) holding the cell together were literally snapping off just from them walking around on top.

Also amazing: Vince sending Mick back out there to do his spot in the main event that night.

Yes it was. You're thinking of the 1998 HIAC, where it was meant to tear open to let Foley slip through slowly, but ended up completely collapsing and sending him plummeting into the ring.
The 2000 HIAC spot was definitely planned that way, hence why the ring collapses like that.

What also didn't help him was taking all those chairshots to the head without putting his hands up and him doing that stupid spot where his knees went hard into the steps.

Hoping for this to be work at this point is pretty delusional but man... I was expecting him to be in the ring any day by now. :(

Nah, WWE has a ton of talented guys. Brock Lesnar is very agile for a rather big guy but just look at NXT.

Foley should have stopped, but bad money deals made him wrestle in TNA/Impact.

I seriously don't wanna re-watch those matches he and flair had in impact.... It was just sad to see these two....

Didn't it take him like 3 attempts to get Shane through the glass? First time he landed on his head.
If anything, that spot was worse than the glass shattering because it wasn't planned. Could have literally landed on his neck. Such a completely reckless and unnecessary spot.

Fuck everyone in this thread and in the community thread trying to guilt trip anyone who hopes or hoped this was a work as if they actually want Bryan to get brain damage. Part of the reason I've been hoping this isn't real is not just because Bryan is my favorite wrestler and I want to see more matches from him, but because if it's a work it means his injuries would not be nearly as severe as it was being made out to be. If they really are that bad then hell no I don't want to see him come back and I think the same test needs to be handed out across the board too.

Foley was my favorite back in the day too and I really regret seeing how he turned out. If Bryan has to retire now and can then live a healthy rest of his life then good for him.

Considering Angle dropped him on his head with a failed first attempt to do this, yes it was.
For those that haven't seen the botched spot where the KOR sign no-sold Shane's bump...

What a terrible idea this was.

There are reasons why this won't happen that I'm sure you're aware of.
The prospects of a John Cena or Roman Reigns of the world failing that test... well, the WWE isn't prepared to deal with those.

Yup.

Honestly that whole match was incredible. Shane can actually work a match very well out there. He got plexed back OUT more glass too. Okay they tried but he again bounced off the glass inside and got thrown back out. Thats 3 wall plexes then rammed through the stuff. Fun fact, it was supposed to be sugar glass but the wrong glass was ordered. It was PLEXI-glass. There wasn't even supposed to be pyro that night because they were worried it'd break the glass. Shane kept telling Kurt to do the plex too. It was his match and whatever Shane said, Kurt would do. It was pretty nuts.

Check this interview on it. It was pretty interesting to hear this and later Kurt revisited it in other interviews. Story never changes. It was just rough.

I understand that, I'm just talking about from an ethical and moral perspective.

You know if this had been said on friggin' TV I doubt there would have been the same level of outcry for Bryan to win the Rumble last year :p
