Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Yeah, me and FANG are going to get along real nice.

That command dash being DP motion means you can keep down charge while using it by using the shortcut input I think.

Should be able to, same as SF4 Bison keeping down charge during teleport,

Alex looks pretty rad, but his bandana-scarf-hip thing is a little much.

All the redesigns for SFV so far have been great, so I expected the same for Alex. But honestly, at first glance at least, I think he's one of the worst ones. But not that he's actually bad at all. I just kinda hate that bandana-scarf-hip thing.
Subjectivity yadda yadda, but with R. Mika, FrankenNash and Birdie existing, I wouldn't put Alex' redesign in the same league of awfulness.

You find R. Mika's redesign notable enough to be considered awful? Like. I get Birdie and Nash, I am good with both redesigns, but I get it. I prefer how R. Mika looks in Alpha 3, but it isn't a huge change or anything.

We will have to see how Alex looks in the game (the playable model, not the background prop). I really can't decide if that looks like a good design or not. That being said, I certainly am not devastated by it. So that is a beginning.

True, her redesign isn't major. Still a horrendous aesthetic she carries though.

Birdie's design might be the best in the game. What's wrong with you?
It's his animations that bring him to life more than anything. Second only to Dhalsim. The redesign itself is only a marginal improvement of his already tacky Alpha design.

The rest of the costumes can be found in the link along with other info.

So what did they show, in summary?

New Alex concept (that I like).
Night version of Waterfall stage (and I hope other stages unseen so far).
NPC battles (totally unexpected but could be cool).
Alt costumes for Fang, Karin, and a few others.

Anything I missed? I haven't watched the stream so I'm going by what you guys are mentioning.

The actual concept art is quite good. Tight dress with reasonable length, showing butt line

wtf happened to the skirt length? Did she wear the wrong size?

Given how much her skirt reveals due to cloth physics, it was probably a bit to scandalous at mini-dress length, given she's not wearing tights with that costume.

Guess it's something that can happen, when you have different artists - each one with their unique artstyle - all working at the same time without one solid design guidance. As much as I like this Mr. Kiki artwork, his concepts (assuming they are actually from him, and not just illustrations) work well on his character designs, but once you translate them in game, well, in my opinion they lose some flair for the most part.

If I recall correctly, Alex's shoulder scars in the SFIII games came from the fact that he wore his suspenders too much without a shirt (hence why you see them hanging by Alex's waist in the SFIII games). So Alex having suspenders in this game, which is supposedly about a few years before the SFIII games (probably 3 years away from 3rd Strike), makes tons of sense.

Huh, I didn't know that. That's awesome attention to detail. I'm glad you shared that, Neoxon.

I'd say we're about 2 years away from Second Impact (New Generation isn't canon, right?). Mel's about a year old in SFV and he's 3 in SF3 so I'm guessing we're around 2 years away from catching up with SF3.

Someone on EventHubs pointed out the fact, so I did some digging on the subject. It's weird, I always thought that was red paint when I was a kid (much like Alex's eye paint).

And isn't Sean 16 in this game & 19 in Third Strike? That's where I gathered the 3-year gap from. Not sure about Second Impact, but you're probably right about the 2-year gap between SFV & Second Impact.
