Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

No lobbies is fucking terrible for a casual like myself. Lobbies is where I spend about 75% of my time.

I am still getting day one, but I'm pretty bummed.

I'm not sure if I'm late with this, I just woke up.

oh my god, that's litterally what I thought they would do with his design.

Looks very easy compared to SFIV/SSFIV. Bit of a grind too, though most willcome naturally overtime.

I think there are lobbies but no spectating at launch. MvC3 all over again.

They are hella short so you're spoiling a big chunk of the game if you're buying for the sp stuff (at launch) only skimmed like one or two vids myself.

Thanks. That's OK. I'd only be watching these once in between the matches anyway, and I've seen plenty of matches, so the format doesn't matter to me :)

I was watching the dhalsim story mode and Holy shit
Oro!!

Maybe in the future, how awesome would that be

BTW, Dhalsim's firebay looks much faster than before.

If no spectator mode at launch means no spectating at launch, there'd better be simultaneous matches. Really, there should be simultaneous matches in every single fighting game lobby. Namco came correct when they first implemented that in Gundam Extreme Vs.
Indeed, no argument there. I'm hoping the "x and y have started a match" notification may imply as much, but that's going out on a limb there given it's Capcom.

It's coming in march.
I think that Capcom released it early so people get some time before EVO.

Of course this is the reason. For once, a modern game company has the hardcores in mind first. Getting the base game in the hands of the community is a good thing. Yeah, it sucks the fluff isn't there, but I certainly don't mind as long as it's coming soon. Which, it is.

And at least we don't have to grind arcade mode to unlock characters this time around. That was such a chore with Vanilla SF4.

Love Karin's new dress :) and glad that she mostly manages to escape the sexualisation all the other girls get

edit: I feel like they really ramped up Gief's gay bait this game lmao

His alt is... interesting

Yeah definitely the Capcom Pro tour played a huge part in the game releasing right now.

Agreed she's a classy gal :).

Damm whole game's getting leaked days before release. It's making the wait even harder :(
Gonna ask my friend if his store already got copies, maybe I can score one :D

I wonder how the Shadaloo grunts work. Do they have their own basic moveset, or are they like the smash Fighting Teams, where they're just based on the other characters?

Evo isn't the reason its releasing early. Fiscal year and CPT are the more likely reasons.

nor should they, no game should get preferential treatment. A review (while i dont use them personally) should tell it like it is

And what if telling it like it is is "single player content in fighting games is fluff, sucks it isn't here yet, but that means little"? Does every reviewer have to obey this belief some have that fighting games NEED stuff like story mode?

Yeah, that wouldn't be surprising, but it is pretty clear why it wasn't delayed (tourney schedule/CPT) not to mention it's an evolving product, aka game as a service. MKX has DLC, but it's not really a service model like this or KI. Sadly, people won't take it all into context.

Nor should they be expected to. Granted, I don't give a shit about story mode these days but the game is very obviously shipping in beta status, and that is in stark opposition to everything Ono has been preaching about wanting to turn over a new leaf and be pro consumer (especially pro casual). They are probably going to get rightly roasted for releasing the most barebones SF game since the 16-bit era at full price.

SFV marketing to casuals: Hey guys, we learned our lesson from last time! No more hyper ultra super alpha final 2020 versions, all updates will be free w/ your initial $60 purchase! We heard you loud and clear and want to deliver a product you will feel justifies your initial financial investment! Fine print:
But for the first month you'll get even less, which is okay because future balance updates will be free. Free!

they don't need it but considering fighting games have a history of having this in there its valid criticism

Hmm, best way to describe them is Juri was rocking her alt 2 with a purple heart eye patch

And Rog was rocking alt 1 but had more gold on the inside part and the sleeves cut off.

Again only saw them briefly, I could be wrong -_- Bad short term memory.

Juri with an eyepatch sounds good, to be honest. Works well with her attitude.

Fuck, I want to spoil myself so bad.

just got my copy
let's the training begins!

The one thing I hate about being part of PCMasterRace™ is that we can't go to a mom and pop shop and get early release. Have to wait on Steam to unlock. Apparently, this won't even be a midnight release on Steam, have to wait until 9am PST.

The history of fighting games is a simplistic arcade mode where you just fight every character one after another and then get a quick ending segment.

If you want cutscenes, they're in there (character stories). If you just want to fight a bunch of characters solo, it's in there (survival).

What's not in there is the cinematic story mode, something still new compared to the life of the genre so far.

I already have the game pre-ordered on PSN.

And there are dudes selling the game for about 55$ and they'll even deliver to my door within a few hours.

God Help Me.

I was talking about single player content, if theres a lack of it at launch, every reviewer if they feel it has a lack of said content has the right to bring this up, SF5 nor any game should be given preferential treatment. Also games evolve over time if a reviewer feels that a game does not live up to the standard set by it's competition they have the right to say that too.

If they're evaluating or reviewing a product it would certainly be prudent to mention the model of how the game is going to be handled as a service. That's important to know. If they simply say, no story mode, and leave it at that, it's doing a poor job of evaluating what people are/will be getting. Whether they score it up or down because of it is irrelevant, but it should be taken into context regardless.

I thought by "people" you meant consumers, not reviewers. I definitely agree that the reviewers should disclose that, but if they do they should still grade the product they currently have as they see fit.
