Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Just to check, but can you buy the costumes you unlock through character stories day one or do you have to wait for the store in March?

This article doesn't mention a single thing about 1P vs CPU other than a Challenge Tower like CPU fight with unique bosses.

Got it.

Got it earlier today too :)

I've always loved Vega but disliked charge moves. I'm in serious heaven with this iteration. Like, I don't know why they changed him but I feel like it was just for me lol.
Rashid is sweet as hell too. I think I'm going to main these two.

Has anyone been able to test if the wireless MadCatz FightPad for PS3 works with Street Fighter V yet? I've got one lying around and a good price on a second sealed one just came up, but don't want to waste the cash if it won't connect.

I haven't seen a single streamer with a non-default costume yet except for pre-order bonus ones, so my guess is not at the moment.

You have to wait until March, yes.

C'mon Capcom, don't do this to me. Don't give me the ability to earn costumes and then NOT let me unlock them. Christ, I'm thinking this game should have just come out in March with Alex and all these game modes. This is an absolute fucking joke.

Beating a survival difficulty seems to give FM as well?

Saw it confirmed earlier in the thread that you get FM for the first time each character completes Survival Mode on Easy. Whether you get a second amount for doing it again on Normal, I'm unsure.

Wondering if ordering the edition with the season pass on PSN was a mistake if you can unlock one dlc-character with a few days worth of play.

On the bright side, it does mean that all the FM you get now will keep on building up and you might well have enough to just unlock the second round of DLC characters when they come along without having to pay.

Fang's animations are like fully tailored to make people salty lol I love this character.

Stream I was watching beat it on normal and got 5000 FM for it.

Yeah, the online store in the game launches in March with Alex, so you can't "buy" your costumes you've unlocked until then. I wonder if this is going to affect review scores.

Good goddamn this game is lacking content wise. I've seen everything this game has to offer in less than an hour. The placeholder story mode is absolute trash. And there's no arcade mode.

The gameplay is fun and all if a bit too simple. If you're going to play alone there's really not much. They should have waited another 6 months. If you can afford to wait a bit, I suggest you do.

Wait, what the fuck? Really? Why the hell would they do that? Argh, that's stupid!! The costumes are in the game!

This is fucking ridiculous. Capcom should be fucking ashamed to release this game at this stage at full price. What an utter fucking joke.

Really praying that one of these stores like Target will drop it Monday on accident. I figure if they fuck up, it'll be the big one downtown that seems like they give no fucks anyway.

Maybe they didn't want to have individual things you could spend your fight money on before the character came out, that way people can't complain that they spent their money on costumes because they weren't aware that a character was coming so soon after launch?

Not defending, because it's stupid as fuck and the game should have just launched in March, but it could be a possible reason.

Probably because those costumes can possibly be bought with Zenny as well so they want to make sure no one can complain the game has day one DLC?

I dunno, makes no sense to me either lol

I wonder if PC players can mod to unlock those costumes... I mean, they are already there. Chances are it'll be a reason for banning, though.

No, people who want all this content of they're planning to play alone can wait just fine. There are lots of us who just can't wait to get our hands on the new characters and start learning the game.

No one's gonna get banned for modding character models unless they use a trainer or some shit to actually unlock the costumes for anyone other than themselves to see.

This game'll get trashed in reviews. And sadly, it'll deserve it.

We will see. Splatoon took some hits but it swerved and was on many a list of GOTY. While SFV is launching barebones as fuck, Capcom has laid out a roadmap prior to release, and called this game a service. While I don't agree with things like locking out costumes until March, I don't think it's too detestable to treat the game as such.

Additionally, the base game is there. Reviewers don't give a shit about how balanced and playable a fighter is, so it'll get smashed regardless, but it'd be nice if one decided to get a hardcore fighting game fan and a casual for both crowds. Some hardcore fans care about extra additions, and some casual fans care about how the game will play from a hardcore perspective since they plan to get to that level.

And lol people are still calling the game simple. People are playing Ken wrong. This game is gonna take months to get in the groove.

I honestly hope all these complaints show up in reviews and that the game is scored harshly. Only way that Capcom is going to actually acknowledge the lack of content and some of the more weird decisions they've made.

Makes no sense that the damn store isn't going to be up.

Dude, the game is probably the simplest Street Fighter I've ever played. Learning the characters doesn't take much, and I'm by no means a pro SF player. My style can be best described as synchronized button mashing.

I'm sorry, but people are going to have to draw the line somwhere. 1P vs CPU I can live without, but having the costumes they've been showing off here and there for less than a month now unuseable until March is fucking inexcusable. I know people are going to jump in and defend Capcom, but this is fucking appalling to ask full price for the game at this point.

What is acknowledging the lack of content gonna help with when they already have free content lined up? All they're gonna say is "but March patch"

SF4 was "simple" on release. Then people found new tech, new updates dropped, and so on.

SFV isn't simple in the first place. Learning three combos doesn't mean you've mastered the buttons or know how to or when to apply those things, or the optimal way to use meter over going for a CA. There is less overall mechanics than Ultra, but that's because they removed bullshit things like FADC and easy backdashing.

I'm also really, really annoyed there's no arcade mode. That would have been enough for me to play through the game over and over till more content shows up. But man is the beta basically the full game you get at launch. This is absolutely appalling.

EDIT: vanilla SF4 had a lot more than this. A lot more. I played the shit out of SF4 at launch.

The game isn't even out. People will start finding new stuff from Day 1 and forward, it always happens. Also, new characters will be added periodically. If you don't care about learning how to properly play the game, that's fine, you can just wait and not even get the game cheaper down the line.

haha word, you already got that shit figured out, huh

I mean, all the content complaints are valid. I never intend to actually defend Capcom, I just don't give a shit about anything other than offline and online versus.
You're right, I know but someone has to call them out on some of this shit.
Reviews will point it out 100%, but the roadmap thing is surely gonna lessen the blow, specially when review websites are fiddling their hands on the whole "iterative review" thing.

I expect a whole lot of "this game is worth a 7 right now but I'm gonna give it an 8 anyways because shit is coming in March".

And that's completely fine, but I just can't wrap my head around locking the costumes they showed off days ago away until March.

Not really getting the complaints, everything that's missing drops next Month including the first dlc character. As long as the performance is the same or better than the last beta then the game will be amazing. If vs cpu mode and costumes are must haves just pick the game up at a later date. Personally I'm going to do the same thing I did with umvc3 and sit in the lab for a month or two while playing the random online match and attending locals. Will be a while before I touch the actual single player stuff but that cinematic story mode with the beefed up shadowloo characters looks damn good. Betting Akuma shows up unannounced also.

*hugs*

We'll get through this.

It happened again, this time from a different company. And then again as a letter got posted through the door.

This is not fun, but I've come to terms with not being able to play SFV this weekend.

Edit: WAIT CAN I NOT REDEEM THE PREORDER COSTUME I GET UNTIL MARCH?! If so, fuck me that's a bit ridiculous. Is there any reason that costumes are not in till March yet they've been touted about leading to the release?

I agree there, the lack of costumes is BS and I really thought we were going to be able to have them day 1, but, personally, I won't even notice after a few days and by March I'll probably have enjoyed and played for a hundred hours already. I spent hours playing the Beta and I just want to keep doing that.

Splatoon wasn't really a mess on launch, though. Here, we have plenty of modes that pretty much all fighting games have had for years inexplicably missing, and things like unlocking costumes you can't use until a month from launch because the store you have to buy them in isn't there yet. I can imagine serious fighting game players are going to notice the game's offering on launch being weirdly sporadic.

Oh yeah, totally. Disregard my comments just because I'm not a seasoned player of a game I just bought. Didn't say I have the gameplay completely figured out, but man am I already decently familiar with most of the roster quickly. SF4 had way more of a learning curve.

I'm down for more content and more characters down the line, definitely. I bought the game and expect my money's worth. As it stands, at launch this is very much unfinished. They should have waited.

Nah I have already seen at least one dude rocking preorder M. Bison.

Isn't that a good thing? lol

Lower skill floor does not make a game simpler, it just makes the game easier to get into.

I'm willing to bet you know very little of the depth you can get out of it if that's how you describe your play style. There's more than you think.

Pre-order costumes are available day one, at least.

At least I can use Hot Ryu until the costumes they promised come out next month.

But hey, tournaments!!!!!!!!!!!!
