Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Do you still have your FM?

If you mean from the Beta periods, no. That's all been wiped as far as I know.

If you mean from being disconnected, then there's no way to tell until the servers come back up as it's not displayed on the menu while the servers are offline.

I'd guess so, though.

Edit: Oh yeah, I got disconnected a while ago prior to this and reconnected and my fight money was still there, so unless there's a specific reason, hopefully Capcom won't opt to wipe the fight money and ranks of anyone who got it a little early. Especially since I really don't want to slog through the story mode again.

Guess it's safe to say this game is server dependent all your FM is tied up to it, even offline modes are tied to it it seems

To those that have the Game LE steelbook edition, does Hot Ryu come in the case or was it an emailed code?

Mine will be here Monday or Tuesday.

Fuck everything. Was in story mode and servers kicked me and lost progress. Not like it's a big deal but still. I guess if I continue on with story mode, my fight money won't get recorded because the servers seem to be down

The servers are down right when I'm probably gonna get the game!? I wish Fight Money weren't tied to their servers. Seems pretty online dependent if you get kicked out of Survival as well.

It really seems like this game requires an online connection to work.

What I'm getting from these posts are that you cannot play the game if your PS4/ PC is disconnected from the internet? Is that so?
People get disconnected from Story mode and kicked out of Survival because of the servers going down; two single player modes. Make of that what you will.

Yeah. This game seems very online-dependent, so I hope Capcom are up to the task of keeping their servers up, which, when considering that the game isn't officially out yet and the servers already seem to be facing difficulties...

You actively miss out on both fight money and experience if you play offline and I'm assuming it's not retroactively rewarded to you if you connect back online, so those large amounts of fight money for stories might be lost if you complete them offline. Unless if you complete them again online you get rewarded the fight money you should've gotten the first time.

Regardless, it's self-depriving to play the single player content this game offline if you have any intent of buying characters or costumes with fight money.

I don't get why you have to pay for the costumes since they're supposed to be a reward for beating the mode with a character. I smell something fishy.

Having to buy the stuff that you unlock is dumb, but not even being able to access the stuff you unlock yet is fucking WHAT.

What happens if you play the game with no internet connection?
I'm not sure... I played a few story modes without a connection and then when I reconnected my fight money had been added but I didn't get any pop ups saying I earned it while playing, unlike when I played story mode while online.

I'm in two minds whether I should be salty or not I don't have the game yet. Even though I have the season pass on order, I'd be pissed if I lost my over 100k FM because of server resets.

Game's not even supposed to be out yet, so servers going offline before release shouldn't be a massive cirtiique... or not?

How would one lose so much FM during a session anyway? A complete reset of FM should be the way to go.

This is exactly what I was afraid of, but one of the reasons I love SF so much, is because of the story lines in addition to deep gameplay. It sucks that I have to consider not playing story right now because my FM won't be counted, and I'd have to pay extra for Alex.

Can you still earn fight money in story mode after the first time you beat it with a certain character?

You mean farm FM by beating the story repeatly with the same character? I doubt it. I think there's a set amount of FM you get by completing the story mode after that I don't think you can earn more.

The fact that you can't earn FM and other rewards from Story or Survival unless logged in is pretty silly. I imagine most people will only go into those modes specifically when the network (Capcom's or Sony's) is down, looking to earn some currency while waiting for online battles again.

I don't think it is.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Capcom are turning them off until Tuesday.

It's to prevent hacking/scamming the system, though, isn't it? Don't they need to log your earnings on their server?
I dunno, it seems reasonable to me if that's the reason.

All those complaints regarding no VS CPU indicate otherwise. :P

It's probably to combat cheaters. It would be nice to be able to play that stuff offline, but you gotta understand this is basically money Capcom is giving out to a certain extent. I can understand why they would have to have it under a certian lock and key.

If it makes you feel any better, the story mode in this game is straight-up garbage. Most characters get 2-3 battles against pre-set characters after a series of images that have a good style but look like animation blending frames that aren't meant to be seen outside of motion, qualitatively.

Hopefully the cinematic story in a few months makes up for it.

I can't speak for certain on the fight money situation since Garrett Hawke a few posts up mentions getting fight money added after reconnecting, but in my experience when playing offline, it states something like "You won't earn fight money or experience while playing offline" in a pop-up box.

I'm afraid to start it up, as this will be the first time I'll try get into Street Fighter and it seems overwhelming. I don't know what to start with. I guess I could complete Story mode with all the characters to get a feel for them and then practice my Nash or Ken in Training mode to learn combos?

But if I lose my fight money on Tuesday due to a reset, then that will demotivate me.

Lol true. Not most then, but surely many.

And yes, I know it's likely to avoid scamming but honestly it should be entirely possible to track players specific progress while offline and once logged in sync up to the server to give the appropriate rewards.

If I were you, just stick to training mode.

Fight money has to be tied to capcoms servers , can you imagine how quick the new characters would get hacked in if you FM stayed offline ?

I'm not going to say I love the decision but I get it.

Ono on the cinematic story mode

"We have two approaches that we're actually taking," said Ono. "First and foremost, there are the character stories, which are really serving as a prologue in terms of getting people up to speed with what's happening in Street Fighter 5, and it's very similar to what you see in other Street Fighter titles--it has still screenshots, conversations, and banter between characters."

Describing the upcoming expansion, Ono added: "This is not going to be typical illustrations; this is going to have in-game models, everything will happen in real time, and it's also going to have an hour plus of cinematic content. To be very clear: we're going to give [this story expansion] out for free. So anybody who has purchased the disc and has the game will be getting this content for free via an update coming in June."

Ono also shared insight into the Street Fighter timeline at large, and how Street Fighter 5 connects to Street Fighter III: "I haven't talked about this previously, but in terms of where Street Fighter 5 is placed in the SF universe timeline, it's placed between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III. With Street Fighter 5, the concept that we're trying to accomplish is to wrap everything together--all six titles of Street Fighter together--cohesively."

And there's a possibility that they'll continue to expand on the cinematic story if there's demand for it

"There's a possibility of that; we don't have anything planned just yet as we're just working on the first expansion, which is already very ambitious. But time will tell, if there's a lot of fan demand for things. There could be a likelihood in the long-term."

How could that actually be done while still preventing hacking?
