Ha this is getting ridiculous, every new poster in this thread has really no idea what this thread is about.![]()
It's like groundhog day we need to keep repeating since they only see the thread title and never read any post it is baffling seeing this.

Because it's attached to an email that no longer exists. Besides, why should I be forced to use a specific Windows account to access the Xbox service? They're essentially telling me to reinstall all my shit for no good reason whatsoever.
I forgot about this part. It would be sensible for them to re-evaluate their stance here since every other service on PC does it for free. They would also have to make it free on Xbox though by nature of the account system... :/I was in the same situation with their shitty account system with links to a fuck load of other accounts making a huge web of permanent links with paid name changes and limitations all over.
I deleted my Microsoft account and all accounts linked to it and said fuck it.
Yes, and I would like those things too, but I can't see it from the perspective that those things trump the game itself when it comes to considering a purchase. I see it like a server browser vs. matchmaking. I would prefer both but it's not enough to decide a game for me as it has no bearing on the actual gameplay. The gameplay itself is 90% of my decision on whether or not I buy a game.

So, say goodbye to
- Performance analysis overlays.
- Graphics injectors.
- Integration of useful external applications like Mumble.
- Community fixes or feature extensions.
- Freesync.
- In-depth modding.
- Support for popular peripherals like the Steam controller. (!)
- Some GPU features such as SLI or adapter switching.
- Actual exclusive full screen mode.
Even someone who bleeds green through and through as a legitamate gamer, would not say half the things in here that were being said, lol.
It is like MisterMedia shit out a plethora of alts.
Like, some of the anti-consumer comments being made are truly scary, because if they are, on the payroll, they are echoing how the culture of the company still thinks.
Well... Origin is an exclusive place for EA games. So that's not open either. Blizzard does the same thing. There's no rule that says your store on an open platform has to also be open. I think the real kicker is the whole universal app thing.
If this is to be the future of MS games on PC then I'll get the Xbox One versions instead or just not bother. Even if the PC versions do offer higher resolutions and framerates, and a bigger choice of control schemes, I'm not supporting crap like this:

Newell said:"There's a strong temptation to close the platform," he said, "because they look at what they can accomplish when they limit the competitors' access to the platform, and they say, 'That's really exciting.'"
I'm not sure this aspect of it was done with malice, though. It is the nature of how the app system works for every modern store, which is unfortunate, but that's the path we're on.Well, yeah, that was my entire point! The universal apps make it as a closed system as it can be. This doesn't happen with any of the other stores on PC.
I guess they are actually reading every bit of info but they have an interest in bringing back confusing "facts" because ... you know... reasons.
Smart guy.
Oh, the Windows Tablet App Store is getting products designed for desktop PCs now? Cool, get back to me in about five years if it hasn't been deleted or repurposed and I'll consider tying software purchases to it.
This thread should have a poll about who cares and who doesn't
Hey guys, why are you all whining. Lol, entitled PC master race. MS needs the money, don´t you know? Ea has a store, so it´s the same. Just be thankful that your PC will become the new "All in one entertainment system ©"
/s
I think they see random words and shitpost for no reason without understanding what is really going on.
Malice? Of course not. Greed? Absolutely.I'm not sure this aspect of it was done with malice, though. It is the nature of how the app system works for every modern store, which is unfortunate, but that's the path we're on.
I think they would have been better off going the Uplay route. Buy the game from Steam or Windows Store, both use Xbox app and account system. We'll see how it goes...
The opinion of those who don't see this as a big deal are no less valid than those who are turned off by it. If anything is happening in this thread it's the latter group who are trying to convince everyone this is terrible and there's no two ways about it.
Well, fuck. Gordon Gekko, right.Malice? Of course not. Greed? Absolutely.

... now think about the money an Android like pc store could make where the majority of all pc software sales would happen.
Valve/Steam is the only competitor for this and Ms can't loose this battle.
I think the apps obey driver level settings on nvidia at least though right? Think I read that several pages back. If you can use something like nvidiainspector to enforce fps caps at a driver level it may work? There's work to be done here and I imagine some of these basics will eventually work. But yes it sucks for now.The restrictions on Windows 10 apps are pretty bad. I got Rise of the Tomb Raider through that Ukrainian price exploit and it's pretty crazy what you can't do. Still rather play Quantum Break than not, so I'll still be buying it. But will definitely be trying to get it as cheaply as possible. My low price of entry with Tomb Raider is the only thing that makes all the Windows 10 app restrictions tolerable. After playing, well pretty much anything else on PC, it was insane to not be able to do things like smooth out frame pacing with RTSS, or monitor shit using an overlay.
Yes. Please forgive us for not wanting our PCs to turn into consoles.
The person that quote chain started from was the zillionth "It's just another store" thing which is factually incorrect. If that's your opinion, it is indeed less valid because it isn't informed.
I bet Richard Stallman would get a hearty laugh out of this thread. Either that, or a brain aneurysm.
Well I don't care what MS cares or doesn't care about. I'm just saying I'm not buying the games for PC for the reason I stated. What PC gamer who cares about the platform and its future would do so?Why would they care where you bought it? W10 or Xb1, it's all the same to them.
If this is to be the future of MS games on PC then I'll get the Xbox One versions instead or just not bother. Even if the PC versions do offer higher resolutions and framerates, and a bigger choice of control schemes, I'm not supporting crap like this:
I have been reported that SLI does indeed work with Rise of the Tomb Raider UWA edition after last patch. So it is not an issue of UWA.
And a separate poll about who read the thread and who didn't.This thread should have a poll about who cares and who doesn't
So does it now support exclusive full screen?
So you're suggesting that the use of Windows Store somehow negates the use of Windows 10 to do all the other things the OS does, including continuing to run your Steam, GoG, Origin games, etc. just the same as they always have..
I'm on the csail mailing list and the guy gets triggered by the smallest things, I'm going to go with brain aneurysm. They were giving out Amazon gift cards as incentives to students to do presentations and he went on a rant against Amazon and how it was a bad incentive. Another time someone just posted that a company was hiring and he went off that company may be involved in things he disagrees with but would have to check. He lets NOTHING get by him lol.I bet Richard Stallman would get a hearty laugh out of this thread. Either that, or a brain aneurysm.
OK well thanks for correcting. All I ever see is EA games, but I never dug that deep. I guess that leaves Blizzard?Origin isn't exclusive to EA games.
Example:
https://www.origin.com/en-gb/store/buy/assassins-creed-syndicate/pc-download/base-game/gold-edition
Looks like we can take one off the list then. No, SLI works in Windowed mode.
Perhaps we can assume it will improve one day as everything does. But as of right now, sure. It might be the case.Oh it does, but what I remember with my SLI rigs, not as well or as consistently as with exclusive full screen.
No, SLI works in Windowed mode.
This thread should have a poll about who cares and who doesn't
This is exactly what will happen if they get any traction. Maybe Windows 11 goes the full UWA route.
So you're suggesting that the use of Windows Store somehow negates the use of Windows 10 to do all the other things the OS does, including continuing to run your Steam, GoG, Origin games, etc. just the same as they always have? You don't have to buy anything from it ever if you're entrenched in the idea that you must be able to mod. That's your choice and nobody is telling you otherwise.
What I don't buy is this silly notion that PC gaming is ONLY about being able to mod.
To them it is just another store. You seem to be of the impression that everyone values that list of items Durante keeps posting.
