And oh boy. People already talking about ow Jeb Bush's campaign has been reinvigorated. Sounds like desperation.

He'll come in 3rd and somehow be the winner.

Trump absolutely won tonight.

It doesn't matter that he gave zero in the way of substantive answers. He was the only one on stage who didn't look like a shill tonight, and that's mainly down to the RNC's brazenly transparent crowd engineering.

Embarrassing.

Is that really important? I don't really demand or care that foreigners sound like English is their first language.

The fact that Cruz responded in Spanish was what made him win that fight. No one voting republican actually cares how he pronounced it.

He just sounds like he is trying to come off as some native speaker when it sounds so forced and bad but yeah, anyone voting Republican don't give a shit just that he tried.

I don't know, Cruz seems like someone who has spent considerable energy trying to erase his Spanish roots. He changed his name from Rafael to Ted (at least in public), adopted tough stances against immigrants, and basically became the conservatives' conservative.

For him to say something in Spanish was out there for him, so I commend him for that. It was terrible Spanish (like someone who took 6 months of Spanish would speak), but still.

Thank you!

It doesn't hurt that he made some amazing soundbites as well.

Donald Trump basically made him realize it was a non-issue. He won Iowa, despite Trump screaming about how he wasn't a natural born citizen and will be sued. Marco Rubio doesn't need to hide how Hispanic he is, and neither does Ted.

Parties and politicans work for corporate America and thats clear to all.
Donald Trump is making the distinction between taking care of Americans and not just corporate America.

It's going to be so hard for any of them to combat that whole thing too. Forget about this primary, I think it's over and Trump has it. Look ahead, and it makes sense why Sanders has a better shot against him in the fall. If it comes down to Trump/Clinton, I can't imagine just how much stronger that entire point could get. If there is anyone more in the establishment, there aren't many more looked at that than Clinton. It could be very, very interesting.

It's going to be even more of a sticky situation since Trump is already starting to lean a bit more to the middle/left and the primary isn't even done yet. He said a bunch of stuff folks on the other side will love to death already. How can a Republican go up there and take up for saying no to the war in Iraq, speak out against Bush, and on and on? Insanity.

Trump also dropped so major truth bombs about economic policy strpping our jobs. Hence his "America is dying" bit. Also more Truth bombs on the war in Iraq, and calling out the bush administration.

The Cuban adjustment act exist folks. Neither Cruz nor Rubio care that much about immigration past that - other than the fact that it's a societal issue thus a political issue.

I'm not sure if this is going to hurt him with GOP voters, help with independents, both, or neither. The crowd was obviously there just to boo everything he said, so it's hard to get a sense of how the GOP at large will react.

Sounds a bit like a Cuban/English accent. Which makes all kinds of sense.

As a native Spanish speaker, who lived in the Cuban city of Miami, I say nah. He sounded like any other native born North American would sound after going through a Rosetta Stone module.

Still, he tried though and surprised me.

I just don't get why Jeb doesn't back down from Trump and instead focus on everyone else exclusively. He needs to flat out start ignoring Trump until he just flat out has to get mixed up in that. He is never going to come out a winner in that fight.

Fools gold, like Right to Rise!

I don't get how Ted Cruz is actually getting away with cheating Ben Carson voters. I don't understand who looks at that guy and then goes, "I can trust him in a position of power".

Someone has to take down Trump. Nobody besides Kasich is running for 2nd place.

He's a courageous consistent conservative who will look out for you and protect your liberties. Unless you are gay or a women.

The worst part about Jeb/Trump spats are Trump seems to be able to shut Jeb down in a second regardless of what is being said. Like Jeb just refuses to talk over the dude like he's doing to him.

Cruz said something like "do you really wanna do this now?" in spanish.

it was glorious
i don't understand why cruz even got mad that rubio said that. if anything his voters would likely applaud him saying he proudly doesn't know spanish.

I'm sure it will be a slight boon with undecided voters. What Trump could have pointed how is how much G.W. approval ratings tanked over the war. The American public knows it was a huge mistake, there is no way around it. The boos were a really bad look because they don't reflect the public at all and make Jeb look like a huge sellout. Jeb should be his own man, but instead doubles down as an apologist for his brother. Arguing in favor of GW's judgement but refusing to hammer one the mistake and learning from it. It's why Jeb polls so damn low. As for jobs, I don't think anyone can disagree with that issue. That get's people on both sides of the aisle.

I was surprised Trump didn't, for his closing statement, say something like "Look, I'm self-financed. I've said it 100 times, but I'm going to fix all this establishment crap. You see all these people booing me in the audience? Why do you think they're here? Who do you think put them here? They're paid for by Jeb's campaign just to sit there and boo me no matter what I say, because I'm beating him by like 40% in the polls. You put me in office and I answer to you. Not to Jeb, not to these elite donors that the establishment strategically plants in the debates to try to make me look bad. to you. Jeb sold out to these people in the audience, and I'm sitting here shouting over these million dollar boos because I answer to you, not to them, and I.. no YOU are going to Make America Great Again"

Would have killed to see that.

The idea for Jeb! is to make it seem like Trump is the terrible terrible bully but it's just making seem Jeb! look weak instead.
