Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

Man that outfit Guile has on with the shades in Nash's story is so damn boss, hope that's his default.

Guile should play different in this game and should be a force to be reckoned with.

Tried to get out. This morning and got 21004 or whatever the whole time. Don't understand how some people are getting on with the PC version.

Darn, I was really hoping to be able to play this for the first time after work today, but judging by what people are saying, doesn't look likely.

Argh, taking ages for me to find any matches. Also, why does the game automatically choose my favorite character when the match starts instead of going to character select?

EDIT: Oh, I see, you can set the favorite before you start searching.

Laura and Mika players are giving me trouble....with their command grab mixups. I hated invincible back dashes in SF4, but it gives me one less option in these kinds of situations.

So there is some kind of story mode out-of-the-box?

I assume that means the feature coming in June is a more fleshed out fancy one ala MK9?
Base story mode is like a really small prologue with 2D stills for cutscenes. The June one will be MK9 style, fully 3D and animated.

Some of those reviews that held off until launch are going to look real interesting if these issues persist.

Nah , guile needs to be exactly the same.

He will be legit forever.

Him and balrog has some of the best movesets in all of fighting games. They will be legit, forever.

I was thinking about writing a thread about this as I am probably not the first person on the internet with these impressions after one day of trying to learn a fighting game, but I rather just resort to one post in this thread as a sort of venting.

I have never ever touched Street Fighter. I played a bit of Tekken when I was young with my friends, mashing buttons and resorting to using "The Panda!" and "The Tiger!" because they looked funky and cool. And when I say young, I mean like, 10 years old with the original Playstation. I am too young to have experienced arcades, but it was still too early to easily find tutorials and high level play on the internet. We all gave up and moved on when the next generation of consoles came out with prettier graphics.

When the Gamecube came out me and my friends maxed out the timer on Melee over a two-year period. I think that was 999 hours or something ridiculous. Around then, broadband was relatively common and Youtube became a thing. While my friends moved on to Halo and eventually Call of Duty, I still loved Smash. I looked up Smashboards and got my mom to print out a twenty-or-so page document at her office about Falco, my favorite character. I watched games between Ken and PC Chris, the best Melee players and they were doing ridiculous things I didn't know was possible.

I am still interested in Smash and follow the scene closely. I thought this would help me in the world of Street Fighter, as I understand concepts such as spacing, hitstun, mixups, armor, anti-airs etc.

I seem to have been very wrong.

Jumping into Street Fighter V today was a wake-up call. I went into training mode and had no idea what to do. The game basically teaches you nothing. It tells you how to walk, block and that there are six buttons for attacking. So I resorted to Youtube. There are guides out there, but there are hard to find ones for absolute beginners. I guess it encourages experimenting in training mode, but I have no idea what I should be experimenting with. Online, when it worked, I got completely wrecked. I'm 15-0 (only casual matches) as I type this. I have learned some basic combos with Ryu and can practically perform shoryus ten out of ten times. But that doesn't help when I never get the opportunity to hit with my moves.

I need to learn some fundamentals, and the game does abslutely nothing to teach you the basics. What beats jumping in, what beats block, how do I counter a fireball spammer who DPs me everytime I jump over his projectiles?

The game should teach you fundamentals. But it doesn't, so how do I learn?

So I did:

16 story clears
6 survival easy clears
1 survival normal clear
3 ranked wins

Any my total FM now is 204,150.

That's pretty good start but once the one-time content Fight Money is done, it will dry up considerably.

Server seems ok now btw, been a while I don't get kicked.

Played in my first tourney ever last night GAF! :D

I believe about 30-40 were there, but only 20 some competed.

I went 4-2 before going out. Felt very solid on my Bison play. The 3 best there, Ken player, Gief player, and a Birdie player I didn't get to face up against except in casuals. Gief and I were toe to toe in casuals, final round final match.

I went out to a really solid Cammy player---dude didn't even play the betas but had his combos on lock down.

Nvidia owners.

Does GAMESTREAM co-op play work with SFV?

Had a great idea to share play the game with a friend so we don't have to out up with server issues!

Please tell me it works!

So what's up with jigglygate? Chun Li still jiggles something fierce on the 2P side. Just odd they never fixed this.

Anyway, I haven't been able to get a single online match going.

They fixed all the other female characters except for Chun Li with this bug. Chalk it up to the same reasons behind them not fixing the obvious clipping on most characters and never implementing stage destruction into any stages other than the China one.

You can still back dash out of command grabs, you don't need strike invincibility.

I would suggest learning to block low, mid and high atacks first.
Go into training mode, set the bot to using those attacks and start blocking them.

(If somebody jumps in, do a standing block, if he jumps over you for a cross-over attack, block in the other direction, if somebody blocks you all the time, throw him. Fireball spammers can be annoying but there's a V-reversal in this game you could try to learn!)

More in depth tutorials will be added in March, according to Capcom.

Hahaha yeah I noticed this too.

Was it ever fixed in any of the builds?

Yeah I know, I just find it strange since this bug has been around for ages.

They fixed all the other female characters except for Chun Li with this bug. Chalk it up to the same reasons behind them not fixing the obvious clipping on most characters and never implementing stage destruction into any stages other than the China one.

At this rate I have to assume they're working with a rather meager budget compared to SF4.

There's an Achievement for earning 1,000,000 Fight Money. Yeah...that ain't happening for me.

Got that DXGI Proxy Server Window error again after closing again. Any ideas?

I have saying this for ages unfortunately the fighting game scene is not friendly to noobs. Luckily o grew up with Street Fighter and know the fundamentals and I have always wanted some sort of in depth training mode or videos so beginners can learn. Everytime I have mentioned this in forums people just dismiss my concerns and point to YouTube or say newbies don't have the patience or learn as they get wrecked online. The lack of an in depth training mode is unfortunate and in would have loved Street Fighter to appeal to a wider audience unfortunately that is not the case and most casuals won't be able to get serious and will play this game for a month and get destroyed then sell the game while the fighting game community while big will stay the same size.

Boobs are still bouncy on P2 side? How has that not been fixed?

So i played a good view games online only with Fang , still learning him. Online connection was pretty good, but i still have a sour taste. Not in a single fighting game ever and i have been playing for over 25 years have i encountered so many rage quitters, almost every single game that i won peeps disconnected pre screen summary. So no LP or FM lol.
Seems like SF5 is filled with "cod kiddies" right now , another reason to wait a view months not to play the game until they move unto the next bug thing.

Do y'all think Rashid's butler will be a dlc character down the line? I think this so called "story mode" is just a big future dlc tease.

It seems that Azam and Zangief had the same master in the past.

Now I want SF6 to be a prequel centered on Azam and Zangief's quest for muscle power.

When you are new to a fighting game do not go online and play people, you will get wrecked and have no idea why.

Stick to single player first. Just enjoy the game, get used to the moves, the movement and just the overall pace of the game. Practice some combos and then try to do them against the CPU in real matches.

Go to Shoryuken.com and look up some resources for beginners.

After spending some time playing also look up match vids on youtube to see how other people who have more experience with the game are playing your character.

Don't rush things, take it easy and try to enjoy yourself.

Well, that's probably where the daily challenges will kick in.

My bet is its under an hour

They already said the cinematic elements are more than an hour. If there are gameplay elements, too, then it might end up being even longer.
