Getting a lot of Failed to Send Match results, win or lose.

"I still need to hunt a copy of that down just to see the tutorial mode in that. Everyone goes on about that and I'm sitting here with Guilty Gear/Blazblues going "these aren't very good.""

The best part about VF4E's tutorial is that it's not just "here's how you evade, here's how you crouch," etc. Instead it sets up real scenarios (like a Fuzzy Guard scenario, a very common one) and explains when/why you should do it.

"What game has a good training tutorial? Capcom should still attempt a decent one. But not something like GG XRD, that one is awful."

Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution

Still untouched, as far as I'm concerned.
Yaaaasssss! This and the Quest Mode are beyond Godlike.

But I always heard that there was some sort of patent issues either with Sega or Namco that prevented some of the more robust training modes from being implemented in other games. Is there any truth to this?

They fixed all the other female characters except for Chun Li with this bug. Chalk it up to the same reasons behind them not fixing the obvious clipping on most characters and never implementing stage destruction into any stages other than the China one.

Yeah, all of this seems to be caused by rushing the game out of the door in time for Capcom Cup tournaments. This is fine IF they actually take the time to fix such bugs or add the missing things in later, which they might not even do if people don't complain loudly enough.

(And no, unlike some others here, I feel such excessive jiggling doesn't have a place in SF despite Capcom's gradual attempts to increase the sexiness of this series with costumes and camera angles.)

Actually, he's the 2nd best.

you continue to baffle me with the things that youre worrying about in this game, honestly. The game is virtually on fire and unplayable for most people, and you are worried about pressing Capcom on supposed lack of more breakthrough stages and now Chun's boobies. You have the most strange priorities my friend

So real talk, I just want to hear some gaffers opinion.
I was discussing with a friend something related to this game which is the learning curve, due to us that have been playing this game for quite some time he says that this game has a really short one and he is worried that this will be a simple game.

Don't get me wrong, in my case I'm happy that the game is simple but still you have to learn your tools.
I tried to explain that but it seems he want something complicated like Blazblue, Guilty Gear or King of Fighters...
He says that the combos are limited which is true but isn't Street fighter always like this? a poke & punish game? It only changed in IV but now is back to the basics..
Maybe SFV is not for him? time will tell?
Anyway I believe is too soon to jump into conclussions maybe he is just.. an old gamer :)

I'd say I'm a pretty good player - just as a warning - anyone up for running some matches in a lounge? Was finally able to make one.

Fighter ID : DiscoShark
US East Coast

Can't play until tonight but if you don't mind kicking my ass again like in Skullgirls I'd be up to play later.

its simple like street fighter 2 was simple. Its back to being about fundamentals instead of execution.

With no punishment for disconnecting it seems probable.

Yup I had one shifty ryu do this this morning.

Also chun seems stupid good. He range on her normals is unlike the rest of the cast.

I think she will be an early contender for top tier. Her combos aren't that tough and do good damage too.

Once people get good with ryu's parry I think you will have to play totally different against him than the rest too.

A lot of people think this. Only time will tell

Finnaly playing, and I have no idea what my main will be.. Guess its time to clear all the character storys.. Hopefully will make it a little easier.

Real talk. Those story alts are trash, fuck spending fight money on those

Sorry Risottoball and Storafotter, game doesn't seem to want me to make a new battle lounge. =[

The servers seem to be stable but Battle Lounge (at least from my PC) seems to be broken. Made a battle lounge and had it up for like 10 minutes before I decided to remake and send out invites again - blocked again.

Edit ... up again but I doubt anyone's gonna be able to join. lol.

The game tells me you simply do not exist :p. I think I will take a good break until they fixed this thing. The whole point is to be able to battle people as you please but so far the only thing working well is survival mode offline :(

is the majority able to play ranked / casual matches now, just cant create lobbies (thus cant play against friends sigh), is that where we at?

im waiting for UPS to deliver my stick so I play so I dont know, I tried using lobbies a few times today on a 360 pad (lol) just to see how it worked and always failed

Finally got logged in and picked my name (same as here) etc. before leaving for work this morning.

From dicking around in training last night when I could log in, I think I'll try Chun Li first. Makes sense as I have the Chun Li stick and like her move set (both normals and specials. The lightening kick being a fireball motion now instead of mashing kick makes it more useful, as does her critical art not being a charge move like her ultra/super in IV.

Hopefully I can log in when I get home around 4:30-5 EST.

Stable so far for me on PS4.

I saw some PC folks having issues earlier still though.

And the Battle Lounge?

Only one of her Ultras was charge based.

There's no friend list on CFN, right?

I really hope they use it for future games and remakes, it could potentially be amazing.

There is, though I don't have the game open to remember how to access the list. You add people to your Favorites list by CFN ID somewhere in there.

Any Ken players here that know what they're doing who can run me through a few decent punishes/combos? Struggling a bit. I hugely miss Kens MK poke as well from 4

Are people quitting in droves when they lose in ranked? Won 3 so far and lost 1. All 3 of my wins failed to send match to server while my one loss went through fine.

No it's just server issues. You'd get a disconnect if they had left. I lost matches and still got the "failed to send match to server" messages.

Gonna start with Nacali tonight and after a while move into Karin and R.Mika. So hyped! Have never started a fighting game from day 1.

Few thoughts on the game. I'm not a super big SF fan and am quite bad at the games but I still enjoy them.

- Ken better have that tux as a costume in the future.
- I'm actually ok with the character stories just being short, simple prologues to the main story mode. Setting up where the characters are at and what they might get up to.
- I'm disappointed there isn't some little Arcade mode. I know there is Survival and it's enjoyable but I do like having a series of 1v1, best of 3 fights where each match is a clean slate.
- Fuuuuuuuuuuck the constant online connection and how it disconnected me when I was almost done with the 30 round survival. Seriously, it can die in a fire. I completely understand why it is there, Fight Money and they don't want people do cheat it, but c'mooooooon. Kicking me out of survival!
-Fuuuuuuck the picking a character before searching for a match. I understand that people have mains and only really use their favourite online and having a character select screen doesn't really add anything so why not pick before the match, but sometimes I want to play a match as Rashid, get owned and for the next one against the next random person go Ken and that is a bit of a hassle here having to back out of the online searching (if you actively search), go into the settings, change the character, confirm and then search. I mean, it's not much more time than just picking from a roster before the round starts but I still like doing that. Same with the stage thing.
-I wish I could trade the dress Chun-Li for beard Ryu.
-RA-SHI-DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

2? The first, best selling one?

Also, other game series have omitted it.

It can be redundant if there are other ways to play the CPU...which is probably why they omitted it.
The training mode VS CPU option allows for rounds, unlike SF4 or SFxT.

Do the meters start/carryover like a normal match? If not, it's a different format and not totally redundant if you can't simulate a real match format vs CPU. Does it have the have the same match start/end presentation like you would have fighting a real opponent in a series of single matches? (I don't recall)

SF2 was also one of the very first SF games on a console, with many more iterations later, so it's not really a good one to use as a standard.

I don't play arcade mode in SF anymore, so it doesn't affect me, but it really is a fair complaint.

How did i not know this about the character story mode. This sounds trash! Effing hell Capcom are you kidding....Still looking forward to playing but man, i liked to do story mode/arcade to get to grips with a character.
