And then your take away is contemplating suicide and that corporate jobs are evil? You're a trip, OP.
Can't say I can give him shit for this, depression isn't something predictable or rational.
The rest though, LOOOOL
And then your take away is contemplating suicide and that corporate jobs are evil? You're a trip, OP.
You're making some pretty wild assumptions about what I have and haven't been through. O:
"Have you ever literally had NOTHING to do at work? Because I have. It's fucking torture."
What corporate jobs are there that are not boring or slow?
And for everyone saying not to list this job on my resume: of course I won't. Lol. I have previous jobs where I've worked for multiple years that are on my resume. Why would I put one that I've been at for a few hours on there?

Ok?
Never mind the fact that the OP mentioned they are battling depression, surely it's only because of the job.
Yeah, my boss said that I can have the rest of the week off and I can come back next Monday. He'll just count it as vacation days (good thing I racked up about a month's worth).
It's okay. I've been hearing it from my mom nonstop so this is nothing.
And don't worry, I won't actually kill anyone. She just gets to me sometimes.
I have learned from this, thankfully, and realize that corporate jobs fucking suck. I know I can be making more money than I do now but damn, if this is the way the world works, I don't want to be a part of it. That's kind of how the whole "killing myself" thing festered its way into my head.

I was just about to go insane when he showed up with the part.
I need to know your entire life history to respond to the following statement?:
I make no assumptions about you, I'm simply saying downtime at a job isn't torture. Make the best of it and get paid. That's life.

Depends on your definition of "boring or slow".
Any "fixer" working in a corporate environment has perhaps the least boring and slow job of that type.
Code:class Millennial extends Person implements Neurosis, Entitlement, Narcissism { public void freakout() { System.out.println("I quit!"); } }
I mean I've willingly laid down in a pitch black cave for a few hours and enjoyed it. It was incredibly relaxing. If I could chill outside where the antelope roam during downtime, I'd be pretty grateful.
Yea, despite being raised around farm work all my life, I'm kinda bored with the outdoors. This wind turbine was in the middle of BFE New Mexico about 60 miles from any source of artificial light (besides the warning lights on the turbines) and 250ft above the ground. The milky way was clearly visible in the night sky and I probably counted 25 shooting stars in those 3 hours.
I was bored out of my mind.

if this happened nowadays with modern cellphones that sounds like a dream.Yea, despite being raised around farm work all my life, I'm kinda bored with the outdoors. It's important to remember that a job needs to fit you just as much as you need to fit it.
Seems like they don't respect their people. Sounds like you made a lucky escape.
Keep looking. You will find somewhere that values you.
I would argue that almost any position above entry level, like what the OP walked into, is nowhere near "boring or slow." Hit management and you will forget what those words even mean.

I also have depression and have dealt with long periods of being unemployed. So screw you for using it at as an excuse.
I would have loved to get a comfy job like that.
This is most definitely not the lesson to learn from this whole experience. I am worried that you think this.

Glad you have a job to go back to, but your corporate wisdom based off of literally doing nothing is not exactly a life lessonYeah, my boss said that I can have the rest of the week off and I can come back next Monday. Apologies if this has been answered already, but how old are you OP?
I can't imagine someone older than 17 just flipping out at their first job behind a desk after 2 hours of down time.
Code:class Millennial extends Person implements Neurosis, Entitlement, Narcissism { public void freakout() { System.out.println("I quit!"); } }
Did you fuck up? Yeah. You sound like someone that's never held a job in their life.
Did you fuck up your life? No. If you got this job you'll be able to get another job. Just... never mention this experience in any capacity whatsoever at future job interviews.
God forbid anyone's experience of mental illness might differ from your own. Fuck em.
I have depression. I would never in a million years blame someone else for my mistakes. It isn't a get-out-of-jail-free card.
