GAF, I've made a huge mistake. (Job related.)

This is so weird to me.

Sitting around at my cushy corporate job doing nothing (while getting paid) is the best part of my job.

I mean I'm not crazy about it but I just try to work through it. There are always online learning courses I can watch during downtime.

Or I can clean up some documentation. But the notion of just walking out for no valid reason other than some idealistic notion that I am entitled to be living the dream at all times is fucking ignorant. I wish I could be that coddled to be that ignorant as a grown ass adult.

Well said. We do what we can do in order to survive and provide. My vision sucks, so I can't be a fighter pilot. I'm not particularly handsome, so I'm not a Hollywood actor. I'm not extremely bright, so I'm not an engineer for NASA.

I am, however, pretty darn good at making spreadsheets regarding and analyzing company financials. Soooo...I do that. It pays enough to live and have a little extra fun from time to time, and I can relax on the weekends. This is how life is done for the majority of people...we just have to embrace the good parts.

Word. My dream was to be a game designer or producer. But I found the industry to be too volatile. Lay offs from company after company. It was fun getting my start as an assistant producer but getting laid off on your vacation along with half the company isn't too fucking fun when you want to start a family.

So I left. That's life. We can't all live the perfect dream. It's called adulthood. Some fucking people really gotta learn to cope.

Wow. I still think that thread about the guy walking out of the interview for having to wait was dumb. But this? What the hell?

OP why did you insist on going home? That is the silliest thing I ever heard. It was 2.5 hours and instead of asking to be trained you complained and then told the worker you are going home even after she was nice about it. You complained to them first day on the job and the left.

Why? Anyone should be thankful for the job they get if they are serious about it.

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
Is this a parody thread?

I am serious.

No offense OP, but you are moron if what you said is what happened.

Eh we got no confirmation either way and since the OP talked about a boyfriend I just naturally think it's a she.

Well, not important either way.

I just can't believe anyone could be so self-entitled like that, and it seemed like reading from the updates she's trying to do whatever she could to blame anyone or anything but herself. Geezz.

Damn I feel salty, getting a job is so hard these days and the OP just goes "Screw you guys, I'm going home". Arrrrgh.

Yes, this is what angered me somewhat. Such a "fuck it, I am the center of the world" attitude.

Ah well...

This is what are you going to do:

-Find therapy as soon as possible for those panic attacks and thoughts.
-Explain calmly to your parents the situation and apologize.
-Get your old job back for now you need it if thats what you want and need to pay rent.
-evalue why are you having these feelings towards corporate desk jobs and yourself so that hopefully with medicine and therapy you can feel better.

This is what you are NOT going to do:

-Kill yourself
-Kill your mom
-Mention this job ever again,
-Leave after two and a half hours (give yourself the goal to last at least a week before quitting)

OP's story is crazy unprofessional, no offense. It's no wonder you were let go. If it bothered you that much, why didn't you take some initiative and seek out your manager (after determining who that would be) or HR and ask for some guidance or any required paperwork to pass the time?

That job sounds like shit. Ya, you messed up if you need money, but mentally that job sounds like a drain on your existence. The fact that they let you sit there for 2.5 hours on the first day shows how badly run the company is.

Your comment makes it seem like you have never worked any sort of corporate office job. This is a textbook first day. That company is probably run just fine.

Damn, so you started a new job and you are at a place that you get paid and do nothing. You would have got paid for 2-3 weeks easy of sitting around and playing on your phone, and instead that you told them to piss off and lack organization?

Damn, just damn.

How do you not get up off your ass and see whats up if you sitting there for 2.5 hours?

OP is 28.

One of my colleagues just sent a training video to one of our new grads. She's a millennial. She said she wasn't going to watch it as it was too long at 86 minutes. I asked her if she'd like a summary in 140 characters or less.
