Twenty minutes without a match. It was fine in the betas. Christ Capcom how did you fuck it up this bad?

I'm also very disappointed with the story mode. Three one-round fights with you starting with full meters so you can just rush through and see bad art. No strategy, no challenge, no nothing.

Unlocking colors is ridiculous. Why 50 wins in hard mode for each color? Why not tier it gradually, like 10, 20, 30, etc? Give a player a challenge that is progressive and gives them room to improve and make progress at least.

And worst of all, I can't even play the CPU in vs mode.

I'm literally in shock at how unfinished this game is. It's the worst game I ever spent sixty bucks on.

I really hope all this stuff is adjusted soon.

Okay, probably third time posting about absolute beginner stuff here today, but you guys have given me great answers so far without bullying me for not understanding basic stuff that Real Gamers (TM) knew 20 years ago - so I'm just gonna keep asking.

I'm in training mode just working on learning which button does what. And I play Ryu, right. I'm trying to understand the concept of cross-ups, and I think I get it (hard to deal with because opponent needs to shift block etc). But Why does crossing up with say, a(n airborne) MK and he blocks it, not allow me to throw my opponent when I land? Empty jump cross up into grab works fine, but not when I've hit his block with a MK. I can do a normal straight away, so I assume there's no such thing as landing lag in this game? And the throw comes out but it just whiffs.. Help me understand.

And again sorry for these basic questions. Literally my first day playing a 2D fighting game ever (well, aside from Smash).

Yeah, I legit can't get over how awful the art looks in the story mode. There's one shot of Chun-Li where her boobs are both bigger than her head both because they're drawn huge and her head is drawn all tiny. Looks so bad.

It's not just the art. FANG's entire store mode was "My poison doesn't hurt Bison :(" told through horrendous voice acting and 2 fights against Bison. He's a brand new character who took Sagat's spot and that's all we get.

Dumb Rashid questions; as far as I can tell from training modeLK Eagle Spike does more damage and stun as a combo ender on most of his stuff versus Spinning Mixer (with both knocking down), but I'm seeing Aris and other people sticking with Spinning Mixer. Does it build V-trigger or metre or something?

Your opponent is still in hitstun/blockstun and is throw invincible during that time. You need to throw a little later.
You can also throw your opponents tech timing off doing, for example, a light kick cross up. That lets you throw him much earlier since the hitstun/blockstun is shorter.

You're not wrong there, either. Hopefully the cinematic mode is worth the wait but I'm not so sure about that.

I'm trying to do this

st. MP, st. MP, cr. HK

But I'm only getting the first two punches to count as a combo. Is it impossible to get the "3 Hits" on the screen with this? Gootecks mentioned it in a basic combo list here and I'm just wondering if combos have to be registered on the screen as a combo to... be a combo.

(Ryu btw)
A lot of the combos there are out dated, they're based on beta 2(or before, even) and doesn't work in this version.

You mean your jump in gets blocked and you can't go immediately into a throw? That's to reward the guy that defended. Gives him a chance to punish.

Edit: Forgot about the block stun.

I'm really waiting for the side material, honestly. I doubt Capcom is going to provide anymore depth to the characters beyond that mode and the updates it gets.

Im getting sick of this bullsh*t online thing, I was on the 100 fight survival mode and got up to fight 74 (first time getting that far since I got the game last week Thursday) and bam NETWORK error and it automatically threw me to the main menu >:-|
They need to let us earn in-game stuff such as costume colours and fight money offline too, why would they not? It seems they've made this game cheekily online only...but not quite fully online only.

Don't even bother with Hell mode right now.

Also why are you doing Hell when you don't unlock colors with it?

Oh, alright, so you can't be grabbed in blockstun/hitstun. Good to know, thanks! (Can't believe so little is explained in game when the systems go so deep...).

I can forgive the lack of single player content, but the multiplayer being down is a real let down. Also everything about story mode is fucking atrocious.

I don't see why people would be disappointed, real tourney players are about that offline VS/training. That's all I need for my $60, and the training mode here is the best out.
/s of course

Yeah, you're not wrong about that either. The whole thing is pretty terrible which bums me out. Hopefully the cinematic mode will be great when it is out but I'm not holding my breath.

Online doesn't seem to work at all for me however. I can log-in and earn FM just fine with no disconnects whatsoever but Ranked, Casual or Lobbies, nothing ever finds opponents :/

Don't worry, it isn't just you. Sat in training and finished of the stories I hadn't done with Fight Request on for well over an hour and didn't get a hit. Servers are totally borked.

As someone who mainly plays casually and local only with friends I'm satisfied with my purchase so far. The block of Family Sharing is a big blow though, I can't understand the reasoning for things like that :/

And I miss Sakura dearly but Karin and I instantly clicked. The graphics and performance is great on my 7970 and the music is amazing, I also like the presentation much more than in SF IV, atleast as far as the UI and Artstyle goes. The menus do feel a bit lifeless compared to SF IV though but I guess you can't have everything.

Eh. As long as they show some effort compared to previous attempts (which were minor at best), I'll be satisfied. I wish we had some SF encyclopedia in the game that details a bit about the characters, even the supporting ones.

The worst part about survival isn't even the hard fights, it's having to do all of the stupidly easy ones again. It's such a waste of time to fight the CPU that doesn't fight back for many minutes until you can start actually playing again. I'd take 10 fights against 42 Laura over having to go through all of the boring ones first.

Hey I beat survival on easy and normal with the same character but I don't see any of the colors unlocked. Do I have to redeem it somewhere?

It might be the worst thing about the game for me so far. Because it's just terrible design and they did it on purpose, unlike the rest of these problems.

There's a strategy that cheeses most of Hell Survival. You just spam MP Shoryuken with Ken and most characters just eat it or, at best, jab you. Of course, I got wrecked by a Laura in the high 50s on Hell so it's not fool proof. Most of the CPU won't decently punish a blocked MP SRK but some will, and they'll usually do it hard.

I think I could make this strategy work if I got lucky enough but Hell Survival is such a grind I don't want to bother with it.

Edit: Nevermind, beaten

For people struggling with Survival mode, here is PowerPyx's guide to Hell mode.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcLyvS1OBTM

He basically just corner rushes every opponent with constant DPs with Ken.

One thing to consider (not an excuse, just logic) - the betas were never really to test this huge influx of players otherwise the last one would have been open, as most other final betas are (closed then open). So it's not really a surprise that they can't handle server load of this capacity because they didn't test it in the betas.

Taking a break now. Playing since launch.

Got over 300,000 fight money, got to level 200+ (lol).
Cleared all easy survival courses, cleared all story modes.
Cleared 4 normal survival (Ryu, Chun, Cammy, Ken).
Got to Cammy's 40th fight on Hard Survival and died.
Fought about 10 online matches.

Time for a break. Game is incredible fun. hopefully the server issues will be solved asap.

Points really don't matter in survival mode?
