You can't "know the timings," you have to know precisely when somebody will do something. Full screen projectiles are easy to parry, but knowing when your opponent will do something else is not a thing you always know.

It has startup and recovery. so even if you do parry something, the follow up you get might not be worth the risk to do it.

It leaves you in counter hit state, so if you get miss a parry, you take as much damage as you would a whiffed srk.

Ah, I get it. So it needs to something you've already anticipated (outside of projectiles) in order to effectively parry.

Noobie here: so what makes Ryu's parry not super broken in the hands of a skilled player who knows the timings inside and out for every matchup?

Because it's not like the 3S parry, a parry doesn't guarantee a punish due to it's recovery frames. That also means it can be punished if it's whiffed, unlike 3S.

F.A.N.G. Is a cheap ass. That cross up set up with the poison he does is sooo tricky. Anyone know how to not fall for it? Good God, I just got obliterated.

If you're talking about his V-Skill projectile, just take the poison. I see very little downside in just dashing right through it to pressure him.

Guys i need your help on purchasing a fighting stick. I do not want to pay more than $80-90 , so will the bellow one work?
71Sq8VL2TTL._SL1500_.jpg

I definitely don't recommend that stick at all. There are often deals for Hori RAP4 Kai for $100 so if you can find at that price definitely worth it. Venom stick is also pretty decent and should go for under $100. Also if you are only using it for SFV you could always buy a good PS3 stick for fairly cheap.

Maybe you need to check NAT or port forwarding on your router?

Or maybe the servers are still wack.

Never had any NAT issues of this sort. Shit I just played 3rd Strike Online yesterday and it worked flawlessly on all counts on NAT 3 LOL.

I'm playing SFV on PC. Do I really need to do port forwarding?

I know before Bronze it was roughly +65LP for a win and -24LP for a loss.

Anywhere got a breakdown of point earning and losses by league? From posts like yours and others it changes by league.

Not entirely true. If I'm not mistaken, the amount of LP you lose depends on your league vs your opponents. i.e. if you are ultra bronze and your opponent is rookie, you'll lose 99 LPs. If your opponent is the same league, you may lose 66 LPs. If you lose to an opponent who is 2+ leagues ahead of you, you may lose 25-35 LPs. I don't have exact numbers, but you get the gist.

Anyone? Pretty please?

Seems to be running well enough
Online seems to have stabilised
Hmm dunno, the game does have a "low spec" option when you launch it, but I'm sitting on a 4670k/290tri-x; 1440p 60fps maxed out and it's reporting 1200MB VRAM being used.
SP content is barely there, survival is garbage, story is barebones, there's no vs cpu.
Other than that it's a lot of fun.

You do know that her QCB+P can go above fireballs right? And crouch jab beats out tatsu.
It's not so much that, it's the constant jumping HK/tatsu that for some reason I couldn't do anything about.

My friend has put up around 10-20h in USF4 and kept getting frustrated because he says he sucks. He bought sfv and a 200$ stick but everytime he plays he gets discouraged and tells himself he sucks and that all the time he spends in training is useless. I try to teach him new stuff, but the problem is that IMO his fundamentals are pretty bad. He watched and read all of those begginers start videos but it doesn't looks like its helping him...

You guys have any good tips I could give him? I try to help but im not that good either so it's hard :/

I told him to start with Ryu to learn the bases

You should probably help him practice in more targeted manner. Just getting into a match and trying to explain what he did wrong doesn't help if he doesn't know why it's wrong and how he should practice to fill in that gap.

If he's eating jump-ins -> practice AAs against opponents. can't do move to AA well -> practice move timing. etc etc

God, I fucking HATE Cammy with a passion. I just want to throw my boot right into her face everytime I fight her. I can deal with everyone else but the way she can dart around and cross-up super easy just annoys the living fuck out of me,

Cool whats your fighting ID so I can find you?

Precisely. :)

Played for a long time yesterday. Got absolutely bodied by a friend's necalli. Played like 10 ft3s and I lost all of them.

Took a break, had some time to think about the matchup, and then I won the next set. Then he left to get food. :(

Fucking amazing ass game.

Stop trying to press buttons after EX Cannon Strike.

Anyone? Pretty please?

Running on PC using an xbox one controller. I had a similiar setup than you except I have an r9 280x 3gb.

Game runs great. I got home late last night and played casual after casual match with no issue.

Having a blast I recommend it.

Now I just need to buy a good entry level fight stick.

No vs. CPU, are you serious? Is there a training mode at least?

I've decided that using the PS4 controller just won't do it for me. I don't feel like I can pull off the moves nearly fast enough compared to the people I'm playing online.

Now I'm trying to decide between a Fight Pad or a Fight Stick.

I've seen Fight Pads going for around $50-$60 and the Mad Catz Alpha Fight Stick is around $70

Should I just spend the few extra bucks and get the Alpha Fight Stick?

Yes, there's training mode, and you can fight the CPU in it. If you set it so it has normal amounts of health/meter etc you basically have an endless match bc after each round it restarts immediately

There's also survival...but eh

Thats always been her character ,dumb annoying as hell. Its especially worse if its a teleporting cammy. Just be on point with your AA game. The scrubs will Always try to get in with that.

Karin's AA game isnt too strong , so you might wanna stick with laura.

Anyone? Pretty please?

In general, the impression I get is that the game seems to be fairly generous about giving decent performance for modest hardware.

I found a post from a guy on Steam who managed to get 60fps on low with a 6850
https://steamcommunity.com/app/310950/discussions/0/483368526575384462/#c483368526578095460
Core 2 Quad Q9550
Radeon HD 6850
8GB RAM

Able to play at 1680 x 1050 with low settings at stable 60fps. low settings look good too, I tested high settings and my frames drop to like 45-55, but it really doesn't look that much better than low. You could even lower the resolution scale to below 100% and probably get more performance but then the game really starts to look terrible. I'm surprise I could play it on my system and keep 60fps at my native resolution.

Not sure how processor-heavy the game is, but yours probably runs circles around that guy's. Seems like it'd be tight depending on the resolution you want to run it at? You definitely want a no-compromise 60 fps lock when playing this game.

Servers were better for me yesterday a bit, but I still had some trouble getting online during US prime time.

Anybody else using this Fight Commander?

Got mine on order arriving next Week; Seemed exactly what I wanted.

New to this stuff, and trying to decide between ordering one of these or the mini HORI pads. Both have decent reviews, but I'm not sure which would make inputs easier.

totally, this. don't be afraid of fundamentals, they're the atoms of street fighter

A "story" mode which is 1 round fully stocked against braindead AI, a survival mode where the AI is on braindead mode for most of it until (SURPRISE) it suddenly jumps up 6 levels, or you activate the AI in training mode. In training mode you can set the options in a way that kind of resembles a match, but here's no way to have a straight up 2/3 round fight against the AI.

Na stick with the cheap hori mini 4, or get one of the hori fight pads.

8 win streak

im now in bronze. time to finally get bopped for realsies probably?

I'm using one right now. I like it way better than the DS4. Dpad is much better and having R1 and R2 on the face is way easier for me.

Fucking yes. My biggest problem with Fighting games is whiffing inputs. Not anymore it seems. My Ryu can only get better.

In the meantime I'm trying to find the best mapping for a DS4. Got the standard face buttons and got KKK and PPP on R1 & R2. If I've got meter I'm spending it!

Thanks for the additional info, guys!

Oh, that sounds promising. I should be able to run it at 1080p then. All I know is that USF4 runs at 60fps at 1080p with everything maxed out, but then it's old.

The Ken that I've been struggling against several times got matched up with me again.

I beat him 2-0 and took his 4 game win streak. Revenge is sweet.
