Bodied on 48. Sigh.

It's fucking awful, isn't it. Not even fun, either. I've given up on trying hard survival, the trouble I've gone through just to get to stage 48 with Chun Li and then lose isn't worth it especially when you've got to do it for both outfits, and that's just ONE character!

I'm consigned to defeat on that mode and the thought that I'll just be using fight money to buy colors if that becomes a thing. I really hope it is, because I got the season pass so I won't be using FM for characters/outfits.

Fuck survival. Fuck survival completely. Just lost on 28 on Normal, no way I'll even bother with Hard. Honestly, not going to bother with anything after Easy, it's just way too much work for stupid colors. Even if I cleared it, doing all 3 difficulties 32 times (both costumes) is absolute garbage. Doing Easy 32 times will be plenty exhausting enough.

Fuck, man.

I garauntee you'll be able to spend FM on colors because people would, and that's less FM for characters and shit. They have it figured out. "Give'em a month to struggle with it and when we open up the shop they'll be pounding at the door."

Ugh, thought matchmaking would be so much better in this game.
The beta would always match me up with someone close to my rank.

I'm so sick of fighting people 3 leagues above me with 2000 to 6000 more LP.

I hated sf4 for this and it seems like sfv is another repeat.
I'm not the greatest player, but I should be around rank 30k but every time I climb up to it I get knocked down to 60k from nothing but rank 2k+ players.

It's so aggravating.

I'm starting to play better footsies now with R. Mika. This match with Ryu I posted is a good example of my adaption:

Then I also just bodied some Birdie rookie...

I feel bad a lil'
It was interesting watching that :3
Not sure how much of this you know but:
* As someone mentioned before me, fully-charged roundhouse goes through projectiles.
* If you land the fully-charged roundhouse you can go immediately into light kick, medium punch, medium peach shooter. This will encourage them to block, like that Ryu did when you dropkicked him.
* Once you condition them to block after dropkick or if they're already primed that way, you can start mixing it up by doing command throws instead because now they won't throw out jabs or anything :P
* EX shooting peach has armour so you can also use that to go through fireballs, I've clotheslined a few Kens in the face that way :3
* You use can use slide to go under fireballs without risking jumping into someone's dragon punch. I get people with this more often than anything else.
* If you hit someone on the ground with aerial heavy punch, you can land and combo into heavy punch followed by heavy peach shooter for a whole bunch of easy damage :D Only exception to this is Zangief if you hit him too high up thanks to his height as the hitstun will wear off before you connect the landing one, but as long as you don't smack him too early it works on him just like everyone else :P

New info for me was you using hard punch to roll forward. I always avoided it because I didn't know if it was safe on block or not, but never considered using it as an approach and not connecting at all, though I'm curious how safe/effective it is when you whiff it like that? :o

I'm in this for the long haul. Fang is my dude!

At least until Guile comes out, then he's gonna have to share.

The incentive to use the other buffs is to preserve your score. Using the health boost all the time kills your score. Using the double downs boosts your score.

Remember the actual goal of survival is to get the highest score possible (even though a lot of people are only playing it for colors).

Basically, what you're saying is you want them to make it easier. But, it's supposed to be hard. That's why they label it "hard" and "hell".

It's an annoying mode, but I'm glad it's annoying. It's old school. Back in the day, games had hard challenges that rewarded you with goodies. That's what this is.

Survival modes are supposed to be grinds. That's what survival mode IS. An endurance test.

You're just salty because the mode is doing its job.

I hope they don't even sell those colors. Make them badges of honor.
The first 25 levels aren't even hard though, they're tedious. The AI doesn't even fight back and it just feels like it's put there to be a time sink, not to give challenge :/ I grew up playing arcade and NES games and none of the good ones had you run through 25 levels of empty corridor before you fought an actual enemy ¬.¬
Whether it's hyper lode runner, galaxian or whatever, they're all interesting, fun and/or challenging right off the bat, SFV's survival is mostly wasting your time.

I literally got to 26 by just using Mika's forward medium kick. I'd occassionally throw them just to break up the tedium. I was watching a youtube video on the other screen to stop me from quitting from uttter banality. If this is someone's idea of challenge, they'd really struggle with progress quest.

Yay, the matchmaking decided to work for me before calling it a night. Went from waiting 5-10 minutes per match to getting insta-connected when requeueing. "Waiting for your opponent" sometimes took strangely long (20-60 sec), but it was still great. Managed to play just enough games to start getting my MMR dialed in too. I actually got to duke it out with some fellow newblets at the end, and closed the night out with a whopping 123 LP.

Now to hope that everything doesn't implode again for friday evening. I'd like to get through Week 1 with more than 12 games. :D

So from early impressions which characters have good, safe pressure? I started with Cammy but she seems to have a lot of trouble opening up down back players except tick throws. I've heard Bison is strong in keeping pressure but his walk speed is something I can't get over.

My 12 games yesterday, 8 were like this. All of a sudden it just started working, coming in within minutes then for no reason it stopped and I couldn't get any more lol. Then I got 2 before coming to work

The trick is to use his dash I think. It goes through projectiles and during v trigger allows him to dash through the other player.

That just ain't right. The game should offer extra rewards like a small increase in health (that you can stack with points) or defense depending on how little health you lost in the previous round. As it stands this survival mode is hellish even before hell mode.

It would be less daunting if there was some consistency to the ai. It's just weird how they space the hard fights. Sometimes the harder ai will eat hits until they get to 10 percent and then their first touch will be an empire combo. Then they just set up shop half an inch from your face and react to your buttons.

Wait you have to do it for every individual costume?...I did not know this.

Every character and every individual costume. Ill just wait it out for the inevitable nerf or just outright removal of colors from the mode

Yup, you apparently only unlock the colours for the costume you wore while doing survival or something to that effect.

Another annoyance of this system is that nobody in their right mind is going to do this on a host of Tournament Setups for every character, so I hope tournie players like only having the 2 default colours unless someone finds a way to spread the unlocks via a save file or something :P

I'm running into this weird problem where I'm consistently throwing out a super when I try to DP with Necalli. I have a feeling it has to do with getting used to using a Sanwa stick versus the Hayabusa I've been using, since I think going from down to forward is registering as the first qfc motion.

I think it's different for each character

forward + plus all three punch buttons during a block stun i think

While blocking, forward + 3xp or 3xk depending on your character.
Minimum of 1 V-Gauge bar is required.

Forward and press all punches or all kicks right after a block.

Whats the timing on that? Pretty instant or a bit of leeway?

Also I think i've grown to like Ken's SFV costume.

Do you have any advice against Vega's cr.lp? I work real hard to get into range and he just does cr.lp until I'm out of range again. That cr.lp has 4f start up and +2 block.

Mika vs Vega is her WORST matchup. All his pokes just stuff her so badly. I'm trying my best to learn the matchup but I'm damn certain a good mika can lose to a crappy vega. My friend did 30 min training with vega. THIRTY mins.... and my Mika I have been maining since her debut in the beta. Sadly, I don't have any advice for ya man.

I get matches faster in Rising Thunder (which has *maybe* 10 people playing worldwide at any point in time) then in SFV. This is a joke.

SFV Server @SFVServer
Ranked/Matchmaking system has been tweaked a bit, so matches should be coming faster. Let us know if you notice the improvements!

I legit made a face. I hope someone finds some cheap stuff. No way am I doing this twice.

Being zombified sure got its perks, the hair is sharper than a knife. Need to take note of his hair rather than his arm/punch next time.
