Online matches are going to be the slowest way to earn FM since it is the only one that is endlessly repeatable. You get a lot more from the one-time FM purses from Story and Survival, as well as the character level-ups. Next month's update that brings new modes will likely also have similar FM opportunities, including the daily challenges.

I'm getting scared that the daily challenges might not be daily, but instead one time only like story mode.

They look static and per character. Hope I'm wrong though and it rotates per day.

What's the best way to get in on Dhalsim with Ryu ? I always have trouble against those players.
Dhalsim I seems crazy good.
When I win against him it feels the hardest.
Knowing how to get around his fireballs like dashing at opportune moments, whiff punishing, utilizing high-priority moves to either trade or cleanly beat his limbs.

I wrote some general pointers (#1, #2) in the Fighting game newbie thread if it'll help you.

I find it kind of annoying to have that stuff pop up but I couldn't care less about the LCS. Capcom Pro Tour stuff I would actually want to check out at times.
Can't say I cared about the overexposure in League's client either, but it is what it is.

On PS4, you can look at their profile, see their PSN ID and then find and message them through there.
Steam is shit out of luck though even when it's PC vs PC, and an in-game system is necessary due to cross-platform play.

Great news about your DL speed, but it's because, and I'm paraphrasing what someone else said in this thread, is that Wi-Fi is half duplex meaning you can either send data or receive data at once which becomes a problem if there is more stuff to be sent than just the game stuff i.e downloads or videos or browsing. With LAN, you can do both at the same time.

I see

Played about 3-4 matches now, and nope, it's still laggy as hell. I hope it doesn't stay like this for longer :(

Can someone explain to me how people are already on so much Fight Money. I've played about 36 Ranked/Casual matches, of which I've won 29 and I'm currently on about 9,000 FM.

Haven't touched any of the other modes just yet as I haven't had time, but I will this weekend.

I have 277000 fm atm.

Cleared all storys and all easy survivals and 2 normal survival and like 10 rated wins. Just clear story and survival if you got nothing better to do, takes like 1-2h or so.

Man, M Bison's V Trigger is almost criminal, lol. I stole so many rounds by just the amount of pure damage it can do.

It's so good it makes me not want to play other characters. When they added normal cancels to the no-charge function it just made it nuts. It also makes me wish his V-Skill was more useful across all match-ups just to try and build gauge faster.

I don't know what it is about him, but FANG has made me realize there is a bit of a trollish side to me.

I always pick the yellow color to make him look like a banana and I'll taunt if the opponent is poisoned and I have a life lead. Actively dodging their attacks with the command grab and then taunting is so much fun.

I may be driving people away from this game.

i rage so hard when i see his win animation after a fight lol

I'm guessing those are the challenges, but when Haunts posted about them in the blog it sounded like they would only makes a few of those types of things available each day and they would award FM:

This was back at the end of October but I doubt plans have changed. It serves their interests much more if those are not all available simultaneously.

Dang mayne, SFV Metacritic score down to 79. Pretty bad look for CAPCOM. While I'm happy to play the game sooner rather than later despite it's lack of content and features, I really wonder how much it's really going to hurt them in trying to grow what is an already tiny community.

Lol, just counted how many bookmarks of Street Fighter V tips and stuff I have gotten since this thread started, and it's at 54. So much to learn!

Just remember to try and implement each thing you learn into real matches. From experience, I can tell you that learning a bunch of stuff at once and then trying to implement them at once rarely ends well.

That's good to see, missed that article, thanks.

Yeah, should take it a step at a time, and then do it over and over in real matches.

need good blockstrings for Chun - who got em?

got her nomarls down, got a few short bnbs i can do semi-reliably, can open an opponent up into CA if i need to

still need to get some nice blockstrings for pressure though

Damn, was on an 18 win streak and lost it to a Karin, it was a good game but I felt I could win it, the first round was totally me going ham and then in the second round I just wanted to get the super so badly I didn't punish obvious jump ins :(

Is there any sort of rhyme or reasoning to how the matchmaking works?

I'm not that great at the game and my LP fluctuates between the 120-240LP range. But I seem to frequently get matched to players who are 1,000LP+. These people definitely destroy me with ease. While I'm fine with playing people who are better than me, it would be nice if I were at least getting matched to more people around my LP range. I'm not expecting to be matched to people who I can beat, but it would make the game much more enjoyable if I were able to get matched to people around my same skill level rather than much better players I don't even stand a chance of landing a hit on.

I'm kinda liking R. Mika, but her V-Skill and V-Trigger seem kinda useless.

V-Skill is funny, but I can't imagine you'd really actually have time to use it in most matches.

V-Trigger is basically a projectile that you can only use once per full meter. Seems like a waste of meter to me.

Am I missing something that makes these moves good?

Hey man did you manage to change your connection to NAT2?

V-skill fills up her V meter. the longer you let her talk to more meter she'll build.

I do the same thing, for example with chun on the second round im like " okay lemme try to CA his fireball" then I only think about that and lose.

Then im like " im such an idiot" lol

Whelp, I'm so bad. Decided to go into casual match. Got dominated by a Ryu who kept jumping over me. I can't defend cross-ups at all.

For new and intermediate alike, watch Gootecks series. It explains a ton of fundamentals to help improve your game at the most basic level. I've linked offense, but he has episodes for defense, and throwing. More to come, I presume.

Play against my Nash and you'll feel he's the easiest character to beat in the game lol.

I'm not discouraged though. It's very interesting learning stuff, and I also appreciate the training with Reizu Ryuu, hopefully we can get the Steam chat going next time.

Eh wow, I should practice this combo.

That combo does not work anymore and it is too dependent on having meter to be viable in your overall gameplan IMO. It is good to know though in case the situation ever pops up.

Here are two quick videos I made of some sample combos that you can change around and dissect as they work in separate parts and don't need EX meter or CA use.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sGa60HzmS4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVu8nKcF82s

All these combos can be trimmed down to just the soft knockdown and can be combo from crossup and cr.mp. Using cr.mp is is better to use st. b+mk to cancel into assualt to steal meter or use cr.mp>st.mp>EX Scythe for damage.

My overall advice is to learn the basic 3-5 hit combos and get those down in real matched before you try stuff like this or else you will end up wasting meter on stuff that doesn't connect.
