You can also learn by watching other players, or even watching what your opponent does.

There should also be some beginner-level videos popping up on Youtube right around now.

Yeah, I can do

Jump in Ryu, mp,lk hurricane, critical art

I mean they're doable, but like with Ken, I'm just trying to link something after b+mp, hp instead of a critical art or ex shoryuken.

I like Laura, but again it's all about resources. I would like to connect more than I'm connecting. Bison is the same way, combo drops after 2 hits. FANG is fun but with HK it just drops and drops.

You can't keep your eyes on the combo counter lol or you'll just get depressed

Fireball spammers are the most pedictable bunch of players you'll ever encounter.. Fireballs spam into a DP is their style and very easy to punish.. Dashing forward and baiting will knock them off theor game.. Just have to learn the nuances of your Characters and figure out their gap closers.

Is there anyone NOT experience extreme 20-30 second long load times after an online match ends? Even if I choose to go back to the main menu, IT TAKES FUCKING FOREVER.

I choose PC over PS4 primarily for load times. Is it this bad on PS4?

Man, never in my gaming life have I felt such a disparity between myself and my competition. It's actually quite astounding and humbling. Like I am no where near some of the opponents skill in casual match alone. This is going to be a serious deal if I ever get decent at this game. At least I won 2 casual matches today haha

Should capcom handout 500k FM to all accounts from launch and apologize to their consumers? I think they should it's a good PR move imo. Didn't ubisoft did something similar for AC unity like hand out free dlc?

It's kind of funny to be right on the borderlines of a new level. I've been stuck in the 2k range for the past hour and I keep leveling up and down repeatedly because I can't get a win streak going.

I got it, if enemy is in corner just finish him off, I will remember that.
Never should have said anything really, sorry I will getting better and then I have nothing to bother about anymore.

I think the word you're looking for is "honorable," not "fairness." In truth, you can certainly play honor-bound matches based on non-spoken or house rules just fine. This is exactly how my best friend and I have always played fighting games (you were pretty much the scum of the Earth if you went for a cheap ring out).

The problem is your random player isn't going to play by these rules and to expect them to will only end in frustration. My advice is to find a group of players who enjoy the actual fight more so than the thrill of victory. You may find yourself enjoying the game a whole helluva lot more.

That's just the servers being weird. It should load back to the main menu faster than that.

I've only played 3 games tonight and all quit after they lost. I'm normally pretty whatever about that, at least they stuck around for the whole game, but this is getting ridiculous. Maybe they shouldn't have tied achievements to ranks.

So you're suggesting they give away enough fight money so that basically nobody has to buy the season pass?
lol

Yeah, I know, seems the topic fairness hasn't a place in fighting games it seems, so you have to become ruthless and well "unfair" it seems.

Someone described it as this in a guide I read.

When you play against a person, they want to take you down. Drop all your hp to 0. If you were an AI, you wouldn't think about it. You'd just be programmed to execute these maneuvers to give them a challenge but eventually lose.

But you're a person, and moreover, your goal is the same as the other guy's, which you can't carry out very well if you're dead. So really, you are basically programming an AI in real time (your character) to stop the other player from beating and winning against you. And you want to win, so you'll make it the most challenging programming possible, and unlike any actual game designer, you don't want to allow a victory condition.

Playing a fighting game (for reals reals) is essentially about being the most unfair, cheap, brutally sadistic game level designer possible. That's why fairness doesn't come into it; it's literally not in the game design.

Hm, yeah, I think it took the wrong term, honorable fits more I guess. Bad on my end. I mostly enjoy those games you've described, but as you said most people do not play by those rules, guess it was naive to think it would be that way. One of the reasons I prefer training with people here on GAF.

@mbpm
That makes sense all right, so fighting games are made for the ruthless part, any means to win the fight even if using cheap tactics.

But nobody on gaf would play like you are describing. Like getting you to the corner and then what? According to you the other person is supposed to walk back to the center, wait for you to go back to the center, and then resume?

Thanks, trying this tomorrow. Might have to kiss you if it works.

I'm trying it out on training right now and apparently cr mk xx orochi doesn't combo. I'm pretty sure that used to work in some beta build.

Well at least you can use to combo into orochi from mp or whatever then.

Edit: Well, uh, if you do cr mk, qcf, df, k~p it makes it easy to do jfl from cr mk(at least for me it does).

Basically. People think Dark Souls is hard, but you want to make them think Dark Souls is Scribblenauts.

It's not a bad thing to not be into that, really. Just know that this is kind of the way things will go, and don't take it too seriously. Games are games.

This is true nobody would nor should they. I've played against a few gaffers and it's all in good fun and not for sport (I hope) but we were all playing our best to win.

Sure I would be up for some rounds.

@Rhaknar
Yes exactly this, but as I've gathered here this is just perfect world thinking so I will try to change my play style accordingly.

If someone did that shit to me I would be offended

lol
That's still not even enough for the one set of costumes already in the game. Giving a significant one-time bonus to the early adopters who had to deal with all this shit for 60 bucks is a drop in the bucket if this game has legs

Yeah, I've gathered that if I'm offline it loads everything way faster, but of course I can't do a direct comparison of the load times after an online match if I'm not playing online. I'm just trying to figure out if maybe something is also wrong with my specific setup.

Thank you for the insight, and I never took games seriously especially fighting games, if you lose against someone it has a reason why you lose, so you have to become better than them.

@Rhaknar
You are talking about you, somebody else wouldn't but that debate could go on for eternity.

I'm experiencing this as well, glad I'm not the only one. Wondering if this is a Server issue or just PC. Hope it's just sever.

I thought this was a feature of the game tbh, it's so prevalent.

I hate it.

Gonna watch that Mike stream again to get some Birdie pointers

You have to stop sweating it, dog, it's not you. It's CFN. Some games take unreasonably long to load and, in my experience, that happens on both platforms.

At this rate with the kind of reception the game has got us early adopters might be the only thing this game gets unless a bunch of people on Steam reverse their reviews lol.
