Cuz I fucked up ROYALLY. Matches are gettin good.

GGs dude, I was probably getting away with a few more jump ins than I had any right to but you definitely improved as the set went on. Need to figure out an answer to Nash's V-trigger. Necalli's HP seems like the right kind of normal to blow it up in most cases but I never got a chance to try it.

How are people finding match making on ps4? I've set my connection to 3+ and don't seem to be having much luck finding matching with ranked and unranked on.

I had one successful fight in 20 minutes of training :(

Anyone else think the UI for the pre-match loading is confusing as hell? There's like 2 different levels, some LP number, then some other rank number. Seems like it would make more sense if it were just your character's rank and your total fight money earned

Rookie me with my Rookie rank and 100 LP just got matched against a Silver tier Nacali in the top 1000 with 3k LP.

Glad to see SFV's matchmaking is Marvel 3 level awful.

Oh lol Justin Wong couldn't use battle lounge during Mike Ross's stream, I missed that last night. So I guess even peeps in the states can have that issue.

Capcom... pls capcom

I gotta figure out more creative ways to use it because eventually just switching sides isn't gonna work lol. But yeah those were great, I learned alot.

Nash's Boom doesn't seem as safe at close range as I thought.

Kind of a loaded question to ask here, but I avoid playing fighting games online because I get destroyed, but I really really like Capcom fighters. I'm still not 100% sure what they're adding to the game for free and what's going to be dlc. Any decent single player stuff?

Finally won some games as Chun Li, with scrubby as fuck play against a Karin that had no idea how to do anti-air anything. All those hours training combos mattered not one iota, didn't pull that shit off even once lol.

Well, the largest portion of the userbase has never been on PC, and user reviews aren't typically very highly regarded. So I doubt it the 'mixed' rating will be especially consequential to the games long-term performance.

Critical reviews position the game fairly well, and I anticipate that we will see reiterations at the end of the year, with a new bout of headlines and reviews. Capcom are better at promoting and supporting their games long-term now, and I believe SFV will be a good example of that.

Not that this necessarily makes this the best experience for consumers, but I think this game is going to have a good amount of hype surrounding it for the rest of the year.

We'll see. Usually games lose their "hype factor" as time goes on, outside of the hardcore fanbase.

Single-player is so bad there might as well not be anything there. You're probably best avoiding this game until later on in the year.

No decent single player stuff now, no. Some in March, more in June. Both for free.

What determines Mika's different forward throw? It just says it changes with opponent's state in the command list.

Edit: Oh wait, it's just crouching. Duh.

So I won a Street Fighter V tournament at my University today...

£10 and a toblerone. Not bad!

30~ entrants, about 10 of them were decent, most of the good players just had solid fundamentals. An idea of what was safe and what wasn't, but many of them seemed to have the will to learn and get better at the game, which is great. Either way I had loads of fun. One of the most enjoyable experience I have had on a video game, I would say. Met loads of great people.

If you can, make sure you attend your locals, it's a load of fun and a great way to level up at the game.

*jumps in on wakeup*
gets DPed

*stands far away and try to HP on wakeup*
DPed

*stands besides them and bait it out*
no DP this time

*jumps to crossup*
ex DP in the face

jesus christ this is annoying

You need to make your approaches ambiguous. If you make even 50% of your jump ins safe jumps (where you hit the ground and block right before they can DP) then you will force them to guess. They will either

a) DP every time and get punished for it half of the time, and hit you half of the time, but you will win this trade, as eating an SRK doesn't do anywhere near as much damage as eating a full BNB after you whif one
b) Stop DP on wakeup and take a more considered approach

If you're doing stuff that's unsafe all the time, ultimately you can't blame the for punishing you for it. Mix it up and confuse them. It's like, sometimes I hit bad players with wakeup Ultra (the reversal with Rashid). Doing something like that, you often get remarks like 'Wow, wakeup ultra? you're terrible' but at the end of the day, when they do the same thing every time with no ambiguity, then the risk is removed and suddenly, wakeup SRK stops being the stupid thing to do.

If they're doing it in a way that feels ambiguous, then just up your ratio of 'safe jumps etc' to meaty approaches. If they're DPing randomly independent of your pattern of behaviour, then just keep playing safe and catch them out.

Ultimately, what I'm saying is that its your behavior that needs to change and not theirs, but you probably know that already. It will be there turn to adapt if they're still doing wakeup SRKs after you're mixing it up with safer approaches, but for now, they're actually the ones playing smart.

Think it changes depending on if they're crouching or standing.

Also, I can't get any matches tonight. Every time I find one it takes forever to load and disconnects :/

Now this game is disconnecting me from my own lounge.

Fuck you game! Despite your best intentions, I actually had some fun this evening. Fucker!

This game really should save your lounge settings, and your training settings for that matter.

Yep, not saving training settings is probably my major gripe right now.

What's the next big tournament coming up that will have 5?

I've been having fun with Nash right now but I need to try out some other characters. What are the best rushdown characters in 5? I was a Rufus player in 4 if that helps.

Did you actually manage to get a lounge working with someone finally?

What's screwed up is that it DID save your training settings in Beta 1.

lose two matches vs people a league higher than me, servers are fine

win a match against someone two leagues up, server fails to send

fuck this game

Sounds pretty awesome, wish I had that kind of scene around here.

Does the game not take LP into consideration at all when finding matches? I'm getting nothing but with with <100 lp and I'm at like 1400. Does your level with your selected character matter at all?

Your level doesn't matter. I think LP does factor in but it'll give up on that if it can't find you an appropriate opponent.

I made it with some friends at the University. We've been building up to SFV and this has been our first tournament.

If you have any opportunity to do so, get people together and get a venue. It really amplifies the experience, in my opinion. The guy that came second in the tournament actually said "Wow, I've been playing for four years but never had this much fun!" after he lost. He hadn't been to tournaments before (always a spectator though) and just began to realise how valuable it is to play locally.

Can you explain a frame trap. Using RYU as an example please :)

Frametrap is essentially doing an attack straight after the recovery of previous one. So say I do Ryu's crounching lp and the opponent is blocking, you get like 3 frame advantage to do another move with fast start up like ryu's st/cr MP.

Lol...

The server kicked me off while I was going through character story mode. I was robbed of 4,000. It kicked me off during the loading screen was while the FN was being added. I went back and I'm sitting at 156k with 100% completed story for all characters...

Did this happen to anyone else?

You can cancel normal moves into a command grab to beat parries:

It did.

But not anymore. It disconnects me from my own lounge after 10 seconds.

That qas the first time you managed to get it working tho right? Progress!

Theres hope for me yet ;_;
