Fire Emblem Fates Releases in NA Feb. 19th; $80 Special Edition Announced

Lol, this isn't going to arrive tomorrow.

I know it's not, but the fact that you haven't gotten a ship notice doesn't mean it's not shipping today still.

Best Buy has seriously screwed up. They keep updating us with what turns out to be BS. The email said my order would ship today (along with everyone else), and it's still not shipped and doesn't look like it will today. This is already the 2nd or third update that was wrong. At this point I have zero faith in anything they say.

Read what I posted. Just like Amazon, Best Buy can still ship super late. I've had notifications at really late at night and it still arrived hours later.

Fair enough, but that doesn't excuse Best Buy's lack of communication about it on all fronts.

What? They've sent tweets, posts on their forum and e-mails out telling people that there was a mistake in the delayed e-mails. They've even given people $20 for their trouble. I don't know how you can say that's a lack of communication.

Wonderful! Thank you!

If you don't mind one more stupid/noob question: what will be the benefit to me (if any) for owning both games?
There is not benefit to owning a physical copy of Birthright and Conquest. I believe there is some kind of new game plus feature though when you purchase the other version as dlc though, which is why they advise you to do that rather than buy two copies.

What are the odds they make more copies of the special edition for people who actually want it all on one cartridge. I wanted to get this for my gf but I don't want her to have to deal with a bunch of DLC bullshit.

edit: And I don't mean in a week, I mean like within the next 6 months.

Of which I have received none of those emails. I haven't received any communication from Best Buy regarding my order at all (and yes, I've checked all my folders). I've called multiple times and have not been given any information about it. I sent an email to CS and have not received any response. I understand BB as a whole seems to be rectifying their mistake, but they've done absolutely nothing for me yet.

Sorry, but I'm not OK with the way Best Buy has handled this. If you are fine, but no need to tell me how I should feel.

How about the fact that the little communication we have had had been completely inaccurate. From emails telling us they are delayed until March 14th to saying the item will ship today?

I didn't tell you how you should feel. I told you the facts. The fact is Best Buy, like Amazon ships packages well into the evening and early morning. That is a fact. The fact that you haven't been notified of it being shipped yet doesn't mean it's not shipping today.

You have to understand how these systems work though. That was an auto generated notification when it didn't ship by release date like it normally would. Amazon also does similar auto generated notifications as well as a lot of other online stores like Target and Walmart.

That's great. Know when it should have shipped? Two days ago.

When you said read what I just wrote...why you just wrote started with "Relax".

The bottom line is a lot of us pre-ordered this and Best Buy did not hold their end of the bargain. On top of that a lot of people have not received any communication while others have received inaccurate communications regardless of whether it ships today.

Actually it should have shipped yesterday not two days ago as it's par for the course of how Best Buy and Amazon typically handle release date shipping. The fact that Amazon is having trouble with this too seems to tell me it's not just a Best Buy screw up but likely a distribution issue from Nintendo. It wouldn't surprise me that Nintendo delivered product later than under normal circumstance which is why there's been an issue of getting them out on time. This isn't the first time Nintendo has screwed up limited items and how they handled distribution.

When I talked to customer support today, they assured me that once it's in "preparing for shipping", that means that it will ship out. I can't say I'm happy about the delay, but there's little I can do other than keep my fingers crossed that it'll ship out tomorrow. At this point, I doubt there will be any more updates today.

What frustrates me more is that orders were placed on ebay where some people were able to get shipped/store pickup today. Different distribution centers, yes, but still frustrating nonetheless.

I've pre-ordered tons of items from Best Buy and Amazon and almost always have release date shipping.

Why are you defended them so vigorously?

Honestly, the entire situation is frustrating. Opening, and shipping additional orders when pre-orders weren't filled. It's a complete mess and I'm not sure why people are defending them.

Yesterday is still not today, which was my point. How do you defend Best Buy selling even more copies on eBay last night and those already being shipped? You can make excuses about it all night, but Best Buy fucked up the situation royally, and until my order gets fulfilled and I receive some sort of compensation like others have received, I'm not going to be even close to feeling happy about how they handled this situation.

Everything has a defense force on here, strangely enough.

I've pre-ordered tons of items from Best Buy and Amazon and almost always have release date shipping.

Why are you defended them so vigorously?

Because I know how this stuff works and there's really no point to keep hitting F5 for the rest of the night. Refreshing or staring at your inbox isn't going to make them ship it out any faster and they haven't finished shipping for the night. There's nothing you can do at this point so it's irrational to sit there and try to will it to happen faster. The best thing you can do is forget about it, go do something else and then wake up in the morning to see if anything has changed. Anything else really is a waste of effort and time. It's not about defending them; it's about being rational and logical about the situation while pointing out facts such as they ship really late so nothing says it's not shipping out today at this point.

And really, like you said, you've ordered a ton from both and they almost always arrive on time. Now sudden with this one game, not just Best Buy but both Amazon and Best Buy are having problem getting the game out on time. Now what makes more sense given that history; Amazon and Best Buy just suck and messed up today especially with Best Buy which wasn't just some orders but every single order, or that there was late distribution from Nintendo which caused Amazon and Best Buy to not get things out on time like they do almost every other time.

I can understand if Best Buy fucked up a few orders, but every single order at multiple distribution centers all were messed up for one single product and nothing else? Logic should tell you that this goes beyond Best Buy and Amazon.

I feel for all of you who expected their SE copies to arrive in the mail today. Wish I could say that was the cause of my bitterness right now.

Missed out on the initial preorders at Amazon, Gamestop, and Bestbuy thanks to work. Walmart's phone customer service failed me multiple times during its online debacle. Camped out at my local Fry's today only to learn that there was 6 copies altogether; I was seventh in line.... Apparently some SE's were sold/held early for employees but who knows. Local Targets and Fred Meyers had nothing. One Bestbuy across town had one copy but I was the fourth person to ask for it by the time I made it over.

So, now that I've finally gotten off work and have a copy of Conquest in my hands, I just can't bring myself to play it. I'm dead tired and I'll wake up to a second print run in the morning.

Wish there was a way to show Nintendo my disappointment in how this entire release has been handled but not buying the dlc only punishes myself.

Oh, okay.

Those aren't conflicting statements. I didn't tell you then. Now I'm telling you there's nothing you can do about it at this point. Just let it be because anything else is a waste of effort that accomplishes nothing.

I never said they were, I just found it hilarious that you decided to do it after all.

You can post the same thing ad nauseum, but you've somehow managed to ignore my point entirely, which is that Best Buy has had zero communication with me about the situation and that's unacceptable business practice. I know the damn thing isn't going to be here tomorrow (even though that's bullshit to begin with). I'm upset that Best Buy hasn't made any attempt to contact me to rectify the situtation at all.

I guess Nintendo forced Best Buy to open orders and ship those before pre-orders? I guess Nintendo also forced Best Buy into poor communication or inaccurate information?

Oh yeah, this too. Giving priority to new orders is fucking asinine and is yet another example of why the whole situation infuriates me.

You've been saying this since this morning willfully and blatantly ignoring all of us that received our copies of FE SE from Amazon today. Yes they had some unfortunate glitches with a couple orders in this thread, which happens, but stop throwing around blanket statements like that when I and many others are sitting here enjoying our games that were delivered today.

I never said they were, I just found it hilarious that you decided to do it after all.

Hey, you're still welcome to throw a tantrum, stomp your feet, yell at your screen and break your F5 key if you want. So I'm still not telling you how to feel. Just throwing it out there that if you want to think about it rationally, doing all that doesn't fix or improve anything and only affects you in a negative way. So what's the point in doing all that now?

You can post the same thing ad nauseum, but you've somehow managed to ignore my point entirely, which is that Best Buy has had zero communication with me about the situation and that's unacceptable business practice. I know the damn thing isn't going to be here tomorrow (even though that's bullshit to begin with). I'm upset that Best Buy hasn't made any attempt to contact me to rectify the situtation at all.

It sucks that they haven't personally contacted you, but these things go out in waves sometime. And so what if they contact you telling you that it's not delayed until March, and it will ship soon. You know this info already as it's all over the net and in this thread so you'll learn nothing new. You'll get your $20 too. If you really want to talk to them about it, have you tried their forum? Have you tried calling them?

I guess Nintendo forced Best Buy to open orders and ship those before pre-orders? I guess Nintendo also forced Best Buy into poor communication or inaccurate information?

What you don't seem to understand is there is no linear line that this goes through. There are multiple distribution centers, different allocations, and so forth. In fact, you want them to be setting aside preorders separate from remaining allocation so that your copy gets set aside instead of sold. Sure be upset if someone takes your actual copy and you end up with nothing, but that hasn't happened yet. I'm not going to fault them for opening up orders when they have additional stock that is unspoken for. They're in different groups of inventory and likely physical location. Why would I get upset if they sold the rest of their inventory if mine gets shipped the same day?

As for inaccurate info. If Nintendo delivered their inventory late, then yes I'd blame Nintendo for the inaccurate shipping info because that's out of Best Buy's control. I'm not going to fault Best Buy for an auto generated notification that happens when something doesn't ship out on time. Every major online presence has automated systems because it would be a huge pain in the ass if all that stuff was manually done. So sure, you can get pissy about auto generated messages, but they often help more than they hurt. Since such systems are pretty much everywhere, I'm not really going to make a big deal about Best Buy or any other retailer having those types of mistakes. They're expected if you've done any decent amount of online shopping.

Sounds like excuses.

It's up to Best Buy to hold up their end of the pre-order and when they don't people are rightfully going to get upset. Especially when there is no communication or inaccurate information.

As someone who claims to be speaking in facts, the main fact that matters is release day is basically over and not only do we not have the item we pre-ordered, it's not shipped. Best Buy has provided some customers with updates, only those updates have mostly been inaccurate. Other customers haven't received an update.

While that may be rational, I think there is an argument for venting about upsetting things with upset people. Consoling and saying good luck is one thing, but confronting an angry person with "stop throwing a tantrum" is less effective.

Regardless of how late they ship they did not ship it today as it is now Saturday here.

Exactly. Voicing our displeasure with the situation in a civil manner should be somewhat expected.

-No Walmarts here got the SE
-Only one best buy got a copy of the SE, and they got literally ONE copy of it
-Gamestop got no preorders for it, so they ordered none
-Fred Meyers isn't carrying the SE
-Same for Target

Today sucked, Best Buy canceled my preorder so I was already irritated. Then all this crap happened.

Game is fun, I know because I caved and bought both copies separately.

Whats the numbers of who didn't have theres ship today or yesterday or the day before? Can you verify they had release date shipping? Can you verify the distribution center theory? Why some but not the others if its NOA's fault? I'm all for holding companies accountable, i've earned the ire of many Nintendo fans, Sony fans and MS fans alike for holding them accountable but i'm just not getting the blame shifting towards NOA in this case. Yes they ultimately should have had more LE's available, but past that all of todays horror stories sound exactly like resellers screwing up or having glitches. Which does happen, but with a highly anticipated, rare LE and anxiety and panicking on high just amplifying issues. For instance, everyone was freaking out this morning because BB wasn't shipping their orders first thing this morning. Do they have a set release date delivery system? Did everyone have it checked or is the more likely case people were freaking out wanting a game before the weekend not realizing how shipping works. I'm pretty confident in thinking the majority of Amazon release date deliveries went out fine given the ratio of posts received in this thread alone. Havent heard many if any horror stories of Gamestop preorders not getting their in stores (which are all over the US). Take out the confusion over retailers shipping out games with normal delivery options in the cheapest way for them coming up on weekend with actual release date deliveries and the math doesn't add up being a NOA supply problem.

The extra annoying thing is that I don't really care for it as a collector's piece, I just want the games in one package. I don't want to download stuff or have to buy two separate games.

Why did you buy both? There is literally no benefit to going with 2 physical copies because the extra features are tied in with the dlc versions of the games.

EXACTLY!!!!! I was also excited for the bag, since I'm getting that pokemon bundle next week.

What? I just wanted to play both? I dunno what you are talking about.

When you get one version, you can get the other version as dlc for cheaper than a physical or eShop copy, and it gives you access to extra features. When you buy two separate copies, you lose out on that stuff. So it's better to buy Birthright with Conquest dlc or Conquest with Birthright dlc than it is to buy separate copies of Birthright and Conquest.

I think it's a safe bet that this is ultimately on NoA, since issues are not retailer specific. When everyone is having problems, it's a good sign that the problem is likely caused by the common source. In this case, Nintendo.

That's definitely not to say that the other companies have handled the situation well though. While I'm happy my Best Buy order worked out (shipped + $20 credit), it's still irritating that things played out like they did - poor communication on top of things like the Ebay sales (which mostly seemed to be canceled anyway) and the fact some people still haven't been updated after a rep said everything should be handled "today" (quickly becoming "yesterday" across the country). Despite being prodded they still haven't given any details as to what the actual problem was. I wouldn't expect a detailed account of everything, but "we received insufficient quantities to fulfill our orders, but we are getting more soon" is a whole lot better than effective silence.

Also keeping in mind that Amazon did the same: put a few more on sale at 4AMEST and apparently was even shipping some.

"Everyone" in this case, is Best Buy and Amazon only at the moment; which were the only two that allowed, sold, shipped new orders and are in this mess.

Gamestop, Wal-Mart, Fry's and even Best Buy's own stores went smoothly; outside the usual "only enough for preorders" and "employee sold a preordered copy".

Maybe it was the "sold a preorder" thing, but I've seen people mention that their Gamestops and Best Buys didn't have copies to fulfill preorders. Not sure about Walmart or Fry's, but I thought people were saying some Fry's didn't get it at all.

Edit: Actually there was a poster here last night talking about their Walmart order not shipping, but I don't know how that turned out today. Someone mentioned theirs was supposed to arrive Thursday though.
