SFV Server @SFVServer
Matchmaking should be finding better opponents now (skill-wise). Winstreaks should be harder to maintain.

Harder to maintain? But they just pull the plug

Capcompls...plscapcom stop tweeting pls :p

I used to feel like this until I did some reading and experimenting and now I feel her pokes aren't too bad, but dear sweet heck is fighting Zangief a struggle. All his normals beat hers and you can't really go in on a good gief because they live for the SPD, so it just turns into a really long slog fest of you prodding at him and hoping to heck he doesn't press a button that beats what you're up to :P

some general tips though: Crouching light kick has a fairly surprising range and comes out pretty quick, at certain distances you can even do light kick into standing jab into jab peach-shooter :3 While not a combo I've seen some people do light crouching kick -> medium crouching kick -> command grab, which is an entertaining bit of cheek XD

Jab is her fastest attack and stuffs out a lot of things you wouldn't expect, plus you can do jab -> jab -> jab peach-shooter.

Medium punch (not holding forward), while not on the same scale as her medium kick, still has some decent reach and is a lot safer, plus it combos great, going right into forward medium punch for the passion press if you're close enough, while if you're further away you can either do medium punch -> medium punch -> medium peach-shooter, or even medium punch -> fierce punch -> fierce peach-shooter :D

A fully charged roundhouse should be terror incarnate for pretty anyone as you have the advantage on block, so you can mix them up by either doing light kick into combo if it connects or command grabs. Just don't miss with it completely or you might be in trouble :s

Seeing as this somewhat relates to fireballs, if someone is getting projectile happy it's actually surprisingly easy to just slide kick under them (I have a lot of practice at this from my ibuki days admittedly :3 ) and if they're daft enough to do it too close, EX peach shooter is armoured and has much more step-forward than most people realise. I've clotheslined several kens right through their fireball this way :P

It's REALLY worth knowing that rainbow typhoon (half circle back, punch) has a much, much better reach and damage than brimstone (half circle back, kick), especially the EX version. Had one local player going "what the heck is the range on that???"

If you get a chance to breathe, it's always worth just doing an instant mic drop if you can as just activating the v-skill without even charging it still grants a damage bonus to all of your throws.

Not sure how much of this is stuff you already know, but I figured i'd drop it here in case it helped anyone else :3
Thanks for the tips good sir

After playing Story mode, I appreciate the English VO way more. They're all great. Birdie's VO is amazing. But everyone was great. Makes me excited for the real story mode and all the characters we saw as cameos.

Ryu's English VA makes me sick and anyone that doesn't change it to Japanese also makes me sick. Oh and Chun.

Other than that the English VA's are ok.

FYI, there are some amazing shots of this game in the PC Image thread. Some choice ones:

Thanks a lot for the tips! I know most of this but I will definitely remember to use ex peach against fireballs if I see it. I think the worst happens to me when I panic during a fight. Like getting a CC and forgetting to do the cart wheel grab. :(

So I bought a mad catz ssfIV arcade stick thinking that it would improve my game. It does not. I am going to stick with the ds4. If anyone is interested pm me. Thanks.

So due to the busted matchmaking I was knocked down to 0LP and STILL had to fight people in Silver. Just tried some ranked after their tweet about fixing the matchmaking and I have to say it's working great! Two matches so far and they were rookies with sub 200LP. Glad they finally made Ranked not horrifying.

edit - make that 4 matches. It's fixed alright! Thanks Capcom.

I bought the 360 TE stick for SF4 launch, but quickly resorted to pad.
For SF5, I'm determined to get better with stick. It's taking some time to learn, but I can see progress, and definitely notice how there are combinations available on stick that I just wouldn't be able to perform on pad.

To each their own though.

So... I am considering getting this on PC but a few questions!

I haven't played a lot of street fighter but I feel there should be more characters, why are there so few characters?

I am going to probabally just use a PS4 controller on PC for this but if I get serious enough into it I might get a fight stick. Is there a stick that works for both PC and PS4?

I actually don't mind English Ryu here. Take it or leave it. But I really liked Chun Li's English VO in the story. The VA was actually pretty good. She's not as special during the intro of the fights but actually impressed me in her story.

All of a sudden after Capcom updated the servers I'm winning a lot more matches with the ranking. I've gotten a lil better with Ken, love this. Feels like I'm where I need to be for a bit. Besides that, I've taken a few of Max's Ken tips.

Is he? Not my cup of tea but more power to the guy.

Just depends on what he does for me. Some I agree others I think "come on dude" but ah well, we'll see.

first thing i do is changing voices to japanese. can't really have everyone shouting moves weirdly. english story mode is surprisingly decent though. from the few samples i've heard.

Glad they fixed up Ranked. Climbing the ranks really is one of biggest factors for me personally. I like getting higher and finding strong opponents near my level. (That and cause Lobbies have been broken for me unless I'm playing people on GAF for some reason)

Why do you guys find Necalli to be difficult? I feel like his normals are super stubby, even among the SFV cast.

It is stubby and you can out-footsie him, but I played a set against some Necallis in sets and if your character doesn't really have any invincible reversals, he can be really hard to get off you. Even then, players can try to bait out reversals like any character. It only takes a good dash or jump/divekick to get in and his normals work great up close. If he knocks you down, he can do stuff like meaty stomps, which grant him lots of frame advantage, and even in block strings, trying to jab out them can be quite risky if they mix up stomps. I believe in some block strings, ending in he light one might land a counter hit if you jab out, while you can jab out of the heavier stomps due to slower startup, they will grant him more frame advantage if you don't want to risk it and just block it. Which of course means chip and always the threat of that command throw game. Doing v-reversals you have to keep in mind he has a command throw, smart players can bait it out and throw you. In V-Trigger his dash is pretty good too, and he has better frame advantage on normals. He does have weaknesses but his strengths do very well when played right.

edit: I do find my Dhalsim manages Necalli well. My Fang doesn't like Necalli though, but I admit my Fang isn't up to standard. Since the charge goes through one projectile, just laying the poison mist on the ground isn't much of a deterrent and of course any angled projectiles mean they can get a dash closer. Also he has a decent reversal, so you have to respect him to a degree when pressuring him.

I find necalli to be a rather slow character without much momentum great music though

I see this every once in a while. By all reasonable measures Necalli is one of the fastest characters in the game, and the combination of quick normals, a command grab, invincible non-ex uppercut and a 3s-esque dash means he's also one of the better characters as maintaining momentum.

He plays extremely reactive until he tags you, then extremely proactive. Despite his simple moveset he has an almost binary playstyle. His normals are stubby but his character isn't designed to win prolonged footsie battles.

This game's playerbase is gonna be dead and gone before capcom makes these fucking servers playable.

Also the PC port is trash.

What's wrong with it? Performance issues?

My major gripe is the inability to uncap the backround character framerate and the lack of direct input arcade stick support

How is it trash? It's the best version of the game by far. No D Input and keyboard bindings kinda sucks, but the former is easily fixed. I play on stick no problem.

Liking Karin, I tried her out a bit because I recall liking her in SFA3. Starting to win a bit online and feeling OK, but I know I'm still learning. Casual fighting fan with no real intention of committing hard, but I like the core gameplay here more than SFIV so far.

How have the fight money piles been for people? Anyone have enough for 2 characters get?

Agreed. Then again, I always have a preference for English voice acting in games. I can never willingly listen to the Japanese VO.

Necali has solid neutral. Good movement speed, dash, jump buttons, good enough ground buttons, high reward, consistent AA in DP, divekick, seismos etc. He gets a lot of reward out of taking those risks or just getting one call out, then he can create more really high reward situations up close with low risk.

I think he's strong and a lot of good players think so too. Idk if he'll stay as strong as he is right now where he fights the top tier well enough, but he'll at least be pretty good prolly.

I dont think anyone can top capcom themselves in tarnishing the reception of this game.

I've got 240K or so. That's from beating all story modes, Easy survivals on all characters and two Normal survivals. And online matches.

That's enough for a bunch of outfits. How much to characters cost?

Really depends where.you are. I'm in UK and been finding matches since the start very quickly (every 1-2 mins).

Also the PC port is great. Got it 1080 60fps on my alpha.

Anyone who would insult Laura Bailey is someone I cannot respect!

I don't think she's bad, and Ryu either, but there's something about hearing both of those characters in English that just sounds shitty to me. Ryu pretty much just yells Japanese things, put him in Japanese!

100k for Characters, 40k for costumes I think.

Another day, another 2 survival losses to round 27 Gief..fuck this guy.

Maybe played about 20 matches tonight. No lag. I only got disconnected when I searched for matches. Then I changed my battle settings for other players to find me. The longest wait I had was about 5min

Good games tonight. I'll be back online tomorrow to get beat some more.
