Try to get a back throw.

If they jump, try to dash forward.

If you play Nash, use your V-reversal. It's pretty much what his was designed for.

If you can get a hit in and do a combo or a move. Use that opportunity to get out.

You can't always avoid being pushed to the corner, but you can still get out of it. It's not a certain death situation

Thanks for the tips. The v-reversal is the only thing I can't pull off with Nash so I will hit up training today and train that one thing.

Honestly I might as well drop the stick when I come up against an M Bison because I don't think I've ever beaten one once as Dhalsim. It's hopeless.

Also, can someone share a list of who's worth following in the fighting game scene? I currently have these on Twitch:

- JWong

What is rip's, infiltvration's and fchamp's streams?

Fang/Vega : Floe: http://www.twitch.tv/floe
Fang/Sim/Nash: Fchamp: /fgtvlive
Fang/Sim: Arturo: /nycfurby

If you want asian streamers, Poonkgo, Infiltration, Xian and Gamerbee tend to stream a lot, but I find their character choices boring. Infil's a clown though.

Art and Champ seem to be on another level right now. Maybe because Sim's mobility/mixup game seems like C. Viper. Heck his movement alone seems like its from Marvel 3

JiyunaJP for Fang

Thanks, added! Only have 34 followers though?

Thanks for this as well, especially FChamp! I just need Infiltvration now. I forgot his Twitch. He's a Nash player like me.

Trying out Karin and I feel like I'm getting her Senha Kusabi wrong, as it always ends with her low HK. I can input right as she hits with the first part and it always comes out that way.

This is her QCB + P > Down + K, btw

I wish SF5 had a "Create a Combo" feature, where you just input a combo via keyboard or selections and the game would calculate if it was possible or not. If it was, it'd show you the combo and you could try to replicate it.

I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in a fighting game, though.

I seem to always be forced into the corner, how do I avoid this? Do I just have to jump over my opponent to the other side every time? Because I tell you, I get stressed, very defensive in style, and then I'm at the corner again.
Look at your replays and figure out why / how you ended up in the corner in the first place. Did you not anti-air correctly? Did you press buttons willy-nilly? Was your spacing game not on point? Did you not throw tech often enough? Et cetera. There's many factors that could come into play here.

Coming back to fighting game after a few years and it's like learning a new language all over again.

Kinda hit a plateau with mika and started tilting. So tried out Sim. Actually enjoying him now.
I know SF-Gaf has a couple of Sim players so I would appreciate any advice. Didn't really play him in SF4 so one of the things I'm not good at is drill spacing or knowing when to go for drill.

Here's a replay of a casual match: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2HUdi_eCOY
I missed a lot of anti air opportunities.
Post in the Fighting Game Newbie thread so I can have a look at this later.

Hmm, guess that's going to be hard to find. Can't seem to find people having problems with port/nat issues for Street Fighter V.
Some consoles have network tests as part of their dashboard user interface. Xbox 360 comes to mind. Look up a guide how to configure Open NAT, which tweaks general settings that should improve things for peer-to-peer games as a whole.

Juicebox. Hands-down the most informational fighting game stream on a regular basis. LI Joe has a great Nash but his schedule is... all over the place.

Any way to upload replays to youtube or something? Or do you have to use a capture program? I'm on PC.
No built-in way to upload to YouTube. Using Shadowplay or Open Broadcast Software should suffice for PC, with the latter having more options whilst also supporting the same codec (with minimal performance loss) as the former.

Yeah I'm gonna stop for now, quitters and failed to send data to the server are making me wanna punch through my monitor

Fuck off

So i tracked my ps4 loading times tonight. Between 31 to 45 seconds to get to the online match. Between 65 and 90 sseconds to get back to training mode.

Is everybody getting this?

The beta wasn't like this it can't be just loading it must be the servers?

It just kills the flow.

What I don't understand is that SFIV was never like this.

Tried it at my pal's place.
Feels like an alpha and not a finite product.
My friend plays with a gamepad, but I play with the keyboard.
"Ok, let's check the options", "wait there is no key configuration? There was in SF4".
Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.
The inability to change keyboard bindings is at the very top of the list of things that I can not tolerate in gaming.

Also, while the characters are well designed and wonderfully animated (except for the supers, those are extremely confused and I'm starting to think it's deliberate to save animation money), the stages are sort of dull and graphically inferior.
Everything feels very cheap and screams "lack of funds".

Honestly, capcom feels desperate.

Well...SF5 has to go through Capcom's own servers (and I guess on top of PSN/Steam) so...since they're not good at server stuff, it creates a massive problem.

Going to a local tournament this Sunday, been playing Nash.

What are his worse matchups in your opinion and can you suggest a pocket character that might deal better with those matchups? I'd like to practice a few hours with a 2nd character. :)

I have yet to get any battle lounge to work whatsoever. if it is a port issue, does anyone know which ports they are? I'm still holding out for the servers to be fixed in general, I've only gotten in to one ranked match so far, otherwise it just goes forever. it really stinks :(

So I had 9 winning streak only to lose 3 matches in a row now. Damn it. Anyway the game is amazing and also the music in four kings stage is great.

Good thing the gameplay is top notch.

Ya SF4 was match after match after match. Now with all the waiting I feel like I play 1 match every 10 minutes.

Is this a PS4 thing? I'd consider double dipping if PC means I'm only waiting a short amount of time per match.

I don't care that SF5 is lacking in content department but if they're going with less content, they should make sure that content is 100% perfect from day one. Like what was the point of all those betas if online is worse than SF4?

Oh man, Dhalsim's MK slide can link off of cr. HP? That's really cool. Teleport, j. HP, cr.HP, cr.MK, V-Trigger. 4-hit combo that creates tons of damage.

Not everyone is having match making problems. I get a match every 30 seconds to minute or so of waiting.

If you want more matches just to be able to play more, try lounges, you can just go over and over again with no loading if you do a ft5 or something.

I'd like to know this as well. I've got all the normal PS4 ports open to get the best NAT setting possible but I'm having the same problems you are. So if more/different ports need to be open I'd like to also have a list of them.

Quick question, can I use a self-made stick made out of an x360 PCB (USB cable) on a PS4?

If anyone is looking for a Ryu main (plays a bit of Chun on the side) and is a really good player based in Germany, MDZ_JimmY is your man. He has a streaming schedule so you should be able to see when you can check it out.

He also plays with subs on Sundays in an endless lobby (soon to be battle lounge).

His channel is: http://www.twitch.tv/mdz_jimmy

It seems like people are getting wildly different experiences. My friend (he is playing on the PC) gets a match every ten minutes or so, I usually get matches in less than half a minute (I am on the ps4)...

It is very odd how different this stuff is for different people.

Infiltrations is http://www.twitch.tv/infiltration85

I think Jiyuna streams here now: http://www.twitch.tv/animeilluminati
He's streaming right now. I think its the highest viewers on SF V right now on his stream

JiunyaJP's stream is actually ANIMEILLUMINATI - http://www.twitch.tv/animeilluminati

I believe JiyunaJP was his original account that got banned then later unbanned.

Yeah he switched to a new account like said above :)

Thanks for the correction, and links! I followed everybody. One thing I don't understand with Twitch though is, that when I go to Followers, I don't get a complete list of everyone I'm following. Instead I can only see live channels and recent videos?

Just beat my strongest opponent ever and it couldn't upload the data. Good stuff.

I'm trying it out on training right now and apparently cr mk xx orochi doesn't combo. I'm pretty sure that used to work in some beta build.

Well at least you can use to combo into orochi from mp or whatever then.

Edit: Well, uh, if you do cr mk, qcf, df, k~p it makes it easy to do jfl from cr mk(at least for me it does).
Oh yeah, that's how I do just frame launcher, it's not hard.
My problem is that I want to do jfl into orochi for max damage and stun, but for some reason that's impossible. The best way to do it is really what you told me, thanks for that.
It sucks that doing db.p or df.p at the end gives you tenko instead of shoulder, seems wrong somehow.

Oh my god finally :D

Time to retire from ranked for a few days. I want to play some other characters other than Karin lol
Been watching some of your replays now. Great use of V-Trigger, I'm trying to steal all of that.

Played a few hours with a friend online, washed out the bad taste.

Still fucking terrible that it doesn't have endless and we have to take turns with our third friend...

I wonder why nobody is asking for the Alex reveal trailer anymore, now that I'm thinking about it. Guess most of you are too busy playing the game (or trying to play it).

I still want to see his full reveal though! Him, Urien and Sean are the ones from III I wanted to see return the most.

I have to be honest, that I haven't been watching any of my replays. So it might be a good idea of me to do so, and figure out what I'm doing. I'll also be sharing them to the community here.

Thanks for these suggestions as well. I'm watching FChamp now, I think he's using Nash for the moment. Really interesting seeing others using these characters.

Anyone from Europe intrested in playing against me?

Send me a PM with your PSN/Steam and CFN. :)

This is just absolutely gash.

I'm watching black loading screens for 30 seconds to 2 minutes.

My last win didn't register.

It takes minutes to get a match. And no minutes to get into the damn thing.

I know I'm a little late to the party in this but it's a joke. They had 5 betas! There's no offline content and online is barely functioning.

I was reading the threads of people complaining about the lack of offline etc. But I wasn't aware online was still having so much problems.

Be sure to post them in the Fighting Game Newbie thread for possible feedback or reading about various topics on how to improve as a player.

I dont seem to have any replays, is there a way to toggle those on?
They should be saved by default if you played Ranked / Casual / Battle Lounge matches, each in their own category. You can find them in one of the tabs in your Fighter Profile. If they don't show up, servers might be on the fritz again.

I dont seem to have any replays, is there a way to toggle those on?
Your not gonna find anything under replays unless you save them. To do so go to fighter profile then page over twice to battle log you will see ranked matches, casual matches, and battle lounge under there you will see your replays.

Then at that point you can save them to your replay section under cfn

I dont seem to have any replays, is there a way to toggle those on?

On the main menu, open your fighter profile (X or Square).

One of the sections has match history broken into "Casual", "Ranked" and "Battle Lobbies".

When you select a match, the first option is to save a replay. Once chosen any saved replay is watchable in the CFN screen.
