Just Frame. It does slightly more damage. You'll know due to a different noise from Karin and the spin on launch.

If all else fails her s.MK might save lives.

Thanks for the clarification. Yeah I just have to keep practicing so I get the timing correct. Once I got those two punches connected with the Tenko, its all easy from there to add other stuff. Haha, I love her s. MK!

What should I be using as a good AA with Karin? HP? I'm about to taker classy butt online

It is the only thing that works well, but you can use the ex move of Ressenha (just a bit wasteful)

I cant seem to connect as smoothly like you do with the Mid Punch crouch + stand then Tenko. It is easier for me to do one punch then connect everything with a Tenko (also with a super too).

Are you using the ligh kick Tenko? or the higher one. I usually use the mid kick Tenko which is probably why it is not connecting fast enough.

I'm using the med kick tenko, it needs some practice.

Edit: You can also use med kick before the tenko if you are having problems with standing med punch.

Yep server is messing up again for me. Can't get into any onine games at all. Even slogged through survival mode to unlock some colours, that's how bored I got waiting

Welp. Just picked this game up after work on Friday at the urge of a friend. The last fighting game I purchased was Soul Calibur II for GCN because I wanted to play as Link.

My friend linked me to some SFV 101 videos on Youtube by some guy called gootecks. Any other good beginner videos I should check out?

I messed around in training mode last night and my bud was trying to teach me some of Ryu's special commands. I'm still having trouble doing the hadoken on command, lol.

Just had my first ragequitter. I was initially worried since it was a high level Cammy but I stunned her twice and she quit when I was just about to KO and win the match. I wish it saved the replay so I could get this shitter's name. I'm really shitty at this game so it felt good when I saw that disconnect screen. >:)

Still trying to get used to my new hori FC4 pad. Dpad is SUPERB, but iunno about these face buttons. Their location and size fucks me up.

Let me start out by saying before you even look at any videos, practice what your friend was trying to get you to do: ryu's special attacks.

Learn to do them on command, and nothing less. Then you can worry about other stuff. If you can't do a shoryu or hado on command 10 times on each side YOURE DONE!

IF YOU COME ONLINE WIT DAT WE COMMIN FOR YOU. YOU. WILL. NEVER. WIN. A. SINGLE. ONLINE. GAME.

As long as me and my SAVAGES are out here you won't. So practice!

I'm joking BTW, pls don't hurt me. But yea practice those first for real.

From all I have seen, Cammy is basically the new scrub online Ken. You can just keep mashing those uppercuts and chances are it's gonna end up favorably against other scrubs since it beats a lot of stuff and does tons of damage.

I for one welcome the Cammy scrub army :D.

And that's why I faced a Silver when I'm in Rookie Rank. GG, Capcom.

Sigh...this game is depressingly broken.

And honestly? Given how poorly the AI is programmed, I don't want more AI battles. As of now, they're given me braindead AI or brokenly cheap AI.

The CPU AI they have in training mode isn't bad.

Day 5

Matchmaking still takes forever with all options set to any.

Friends still can't join my battle lounges, nor can I join theirs.

Deja vu.

Might as well go play something else.
Or maybe there arent many players left. The game is not selling well at least on PC based on steamspy.

They can try that if they want to. But with crush counters being so crazy....? Yeeeaaa not gonna last.

I actually ran into a Ken where that was all he did. Game was laggy as hell and I was about to quit before a punch was thrown. UNTIL I saw him just uppercutting for no reason.

So I started smiling right? And then I started creeping up on em with my Laura, right? And he is still doing it, right!? So I block, he lands, OH MY FUCKING GOD....

...BOOM! crush countered into her elbow charge bnb I have on deck at all times. So of course, he is gonna wake up shoryu and land in front of-

-BOOM. Nope. I smash em again. That's 50% of his health gone. HE GOES FOR IT AGAIN! So you know the deal.... Not a good idea to try that. And I'm not even that great at this game either...

If I fireball from just out of sweep range, she can still DP me D:

I learned that when a guy won one round by mashing DP into CA on wakeup.

I get confused when fighting necalli. If I'm on the floor, on wake up what beats command throws? Should normal throw still tech it? Should I be able to just LK or LP to stop it? I feel sometimes that no matter what I do I can't counter half his moves but I don't really know him we at all yet.

is there something wrong on my end or is matchmaking, lobbies and the whole online side of the game a complete fucking catastrophe?

battle lobbies are 90% already full or "connection failed" after a 2 minute wait. leaving it open to invitations for 4+ bars means one game every 5-10 minutes. matchmaking is a good way to spend an afternoon staring at a spinning wheel.

sf4 had about three different modes that all morealess worked at launch. never more an a minute between matches.

haven't been part of a network launch this bad since demigod.

anyone found a way to atleast mitigate it?

Reposting this for visibility

Hey guys,

I know there is one for the neogaf FGC already on PS4, but I thought it might be nice to have communities and channels of communication, for this game specifically. To join this, add Chronospherics and I'll invite you.

I've also made a SFV group chat for Neogaf members, if you join this and favorite it, you can very quickly see everyone online, who you have in friends and who you don't, and message everyone everyone asking if they'd like to fight etc.. We use these group chats very successfully on other OTs like the Rainbow Six Siege OT. It can be handier when grouping people together.

If you'd like to join either group, just send a message to Chronospherics on PSN and I'll add you to both. If you only want to join one then just leave the one you don't want to be a part of.

Finally I've made a spreadsheet where everyone can log their Capcom Fighter ID, either on PC or PS4. Adding people from this list should make it smoother for everyone to match up, and you can follow each others replays and such too.

Here's a link to that spread sheet, just edit yourself in.

Neutral jump into meaty. Grapplers hate that.

Someone can correct me here but AFAIK command grabs have priority over normal grabs. on wakeup of course.

Here's an odd question: what determines which throw animation you execute? I know there's a forward and back throw, but sometimes the regular throw for Mika has her say "The burn!" or something like that, but sometimes she does the one where she says "My turn -- going down!"

I just want to do the latter at every opportunity cuz it's the cooler throw.

Command throws cannot be teched. If they're being super obvious and doing on every single knockdown, then you should be able to neutral jump and avoid it completely.

The whole thing just pisses me off, ya know.

I'd rather face 10 partially competent AI in Survival on Normal than 25 Dumbfuck AI's followed by 5 Golden Gods of Bullshit.

I know that Capcom's obviously going to charge Fight Money for Colors, but this kinda bullshit, this Mobile Game, P2W trash, that they've injected the game with, makes me want to stop playing. It's obvious that Capcom thought this was a good idea since it's so hardwired into the game, but it brings the entire fucking product to its' knees.

People don't want an Online Only Street Fighter game. There's a reason why Microsoft did an Xbone 180. It's because it's a shitty premise and Street Fighter 5 basically proves every naysayer of Microsoft's "Utopia" correct. Yes, I know that years down the line people will still be able to play SF5 offline, and that goes against the concept of Online Only, but unless they completely scrap Fight Money, what does that get you? Stuff you unlock will be forever trapped behind a system (Fight Money) that no longer works. And because it's such a BIG part of how the game's designed, you're getting a hollowed out, husk of a product. I mean, it's a good core of a game there. But the rotting F2P shell is still gonna be there.

And that sucks. I want to play this game and unlock things. I want to enjoy it. But they've put up so many barriers that I kinda just want to go back down half the wall I climbed and take a taxi to another game.

You either have to stuff the command throw with a fast enough move, get airborne so you can't be thrown at all, or wakeup with a throw-invincible move. You cannot tech command throws.

Agree with you here.

What are my best options as Zangief once I knock someone down?
I'm relying too much on either going for a cross up or faking going for a cross up with body splash, but I'm not really sure what else to do. Jump back mk seems like it could be useful, but I'm not sure.

Been like this since launch for me, except I'm only getting one game every 15-20 minutes even if I set it to accept all connections. And yeah, I don't remember SFIV's online modes being this bad at launch either.

Well that explains that then lol. Will have to remember to n.jump then drop kick em in the face..... Of course then they will just DP me lol. Ah the fun of fighting games.

Holding backward while throwing will do a backthrow. Mika also has a special throw animation for crouching opponents, which may be what you're referring to.
