Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

This fucking game. Miraculously got into a lounge, had a fun eight matches, then the game booted me from the lounge. Now I can't get into any lounges again, or get any matches. Oh, except a Chinese lounge, with a 1 bar connection. Yay.

I feel like characters like this always end up mediocre in the long-term meta, see Guy and El Feute as examples. Their core gameplan is built on gimmicks that become less and less viable as people develop matchup knowledge.

Although generally I think Gootecks is a fool, it reminds me of something he was talking about on stream, and how he 'doesn't want to build his house on sand' referring to how he doesn't want to build his fundamentals on strategies that aren't likely to be viable long-term. Unfortunately I feel that's the way of this game right now, there's a lot of players out there that clearly aren't working on their fundamentals, but instead they're spending their time making the most of the fresh meta, and abusing the lack of matchup knowledge.

Unfortunately for those players, instead of getting better, they're going to get worse over time, and in a way I feel that's Capcom's fault, for putting things these gimmicks in, in the first place. The games have never needed those additions. The game is already accessible enough without the gimmicks.

She feels like a character that got too good during development and had to be nerfed on all sides. Now we're left with a character that has all these moves but non of them are actually solid. You end up playing the footsie game with her, which she can do, but the payoff is just so much worse than for other characters. Not to mention her 900 health...
But she does get better in V-Trigger, including better mix-up potential, so we'll see how that's going to get used.

Well, there are just the two block states, high and low. High blocks will stop anything that doesn't hit low (ie: sweeps) and a low block will stop anything that doesn't hit mid (ie: jumping normals, overheads).

I think she's pretty good in the right hands.
 
I can't seem to get Bipsons summersault kick to come out when I play online lol, training is fine though.

Probably just need to work on my execution.
 
That moment when you force yourself to stop acting on your own moronic instinc against 3 Ken's in a row, realise how predictable they are being and act accordingly.

Walks towards me aggressively, he is gonna jump. 3 wingless aeroplanes in a row.

Then they start hurricane kicking to get close, block and throw.

When you get him on floor you know he gonna dragon punch, block and punish.

Feels good. It's hard to stop your self doing stupid crap though. It's why these (I assume what people mean by flow chart Ken's) get out of low levels because they seem super aggressive when you don't know better.

Two questions spring to mind: Firstly, what on earth was that person doing, and secondly, why on earth did you not just KO them and collect your free points?

But look on the bright side: At least they stayed on the ground for the majority of that match, unlike a lot of matches I've had recently.

When outside of V-trigger all of his specials are unsafe except for HK scissors.

HK Scissors is only -2, but it gives you momentum. You can use it to frametrap Bison, place pressure on him, and prevent him from using scissors on you all day.

In V-trigger he's a pain in the ass. Scissors is safe so he can pressure you without much worry. Neutral jumps can still catch this though, as if it doesn't hit you he's vulnerable. Neutral jumps are a good option generally.

Best bet is to try and pressure him, keep momentum, use frametraps and open him up. Block if you think he's going to do anything, as all of his attacks outside of vtrigger are either punishable, or give you momentum.
 
Playing in battle lounges is such a better experience than waiting for fight requests in training mode. You get so many more matches in, and you actually get to learn matchups.

Not sure which league you're in, but fighting guys above 1000 LP and you can't rely on those tactics against lens.

8 years into Street Fighter 4, people still sometimes don't block slow overheads, that's not it.

I think she's really comparable to how Dudley was played back in SF4. She can punish a failed move by really getting in quickly, and then just maintaining that pressure until a V-Reversal comes out or they manage to counter.
 
So I just started playing this and I just finished Cammy's story mode in maybe less than 10 minutes.
I knew how short people said it was, but I was hoping people were exaggerating...wow. The cpu opponents are also braindead as hell. I'm guessing it's on extra easy or something. You don't have enough time to get a feel for the characters because it's over way too fast.
The art isn't great either, but you can totally make still images work when telling a story. Not here though.

So uhh, is this getting fixed/expanded/replaced eventually? I can't imagine that this is what they really wanted to do if they had more time.
 
Ranked mode has turned into complete shit. Was fine earlier in the week but now whenever I beat someone over 1500 lp they are guaranteed to disconnect. I'll go do something else until capcom fixes the problem.

22 frames is 352ms, looking at some research articles, and random data collected online, human beings respond to very basic visual stimulus between 210-400ms. I would say differentiating moves from one another, and then responding is quite complex compared to the 'on off' visual tasks usually used to test reaction times.

What I'm saying is you are right, and that, without being genetically different from the rest of the human population, overheads are always going to hit people a good portion of the time provided you have first taught then that they need to block low! It's just important you use them at the right time, and not too frequently. A lot of it is about spacing and knowing what your opponent can and can't do at certain ranges, most decent opponents are more likely to throw out overheads than they are random sweeps if they see you crouching.

I tend not to use either very often and save those options till I really need them to work.
 
The one thing I don't like about story mode is how it throws you into the fight straight off no intro or nothing, if the ai was dangerous it could easily capitalise on that but it isn't

Full cinematic story mode coming in June. These are just "character prologues" for now.

Oh I know. I'm talking about the 500 - 1500 LP Ken's.

Although I fought one later who didn't flow it at all and I still won but knew better than to rely on the above tactics.

Its just one of those things that new plays can get trapped by but if you stop your self you can wreck them.

If that's what you've ran into: That's an idler. Someone that is only doing the online for the achievements.
I am one of those people.
You should be able to beat that easily like the Youtube does. Waste your time or go in with the safe jump ins/backdashes and see if that snaps them out of their macro.

Nah her v-trigger is pretty bad, it's only really useful for activating mid combo for a bit more damage, so if you really need that extra bit to dizzy/kill, you're better off saving it for v-reversals.
 
Punished one of those ridiculous Eagly Spike's (why do they do more damage than EX headbutts lol) from Rashid with a 40% combo, opponent rage quits. Feels good.
