If a DC can deduct points like a loss, couldn't it also award the person who stayed with points? That's probably the ideal solution. Just treat the disconnect like that player resigning from the match.

No, if lag switches build the right way can make it seem like the other guy disconnected. Would get abused.

It would be hilarious if Capcom implemented w/l ratio, that it would do it retroactively, so all of their rage quits would show up as losses on their profiles.

Newbie question here but what the hell am I supposed to do when knocked down. I just feel like I can't/don't block if I just get up so my best bet is always to try and EX my way out. I feel this way especially when an opponent knocks me down and then jumps to be in position to kick me the second i get up. I feel like I can't get any regular anti air out so am I supposed to EX? Or is it my lack of back-dash/quick-rise because I haven't really utilized those at all yet.

EDIT: Playing Karin btw

I have so much trouble landing it. I think it's because I'm not fast enough to do it in a combo yet.

You and me both, it's pretty tough to successfully make the read in a match. I realized you can do it immediately after a jumping HK connects, it feels really good when you get it.

Overall I think with R. Mika it's more wise to use the meter for EX rather than her CA which really doesn't do too much damage in comparison to some other character's Critical Arts.

You need to mix things up, you have several options avaiable during a knockdown so you gotta use what the situation needs. For example, say you're getting jumped on, you might want to quick rise or roll back to mess up the enemy's setup, or if they get too predictable you can do a reversal - you usually want to do the light or EX version of it.

In Karin's case you should be using quick rise more often than EX Ressenha because that thing is very baitable.

I mean at least the survival grind will be good for the 300 CA finishes trophy >_>

I really have no idea what's wrong with my PC. The first round of almost every online match is unplayable because of the bad framerate. Then it just kicks in and it's smooth 60FPS. Maybe my SSD is getting bad or something.

Dude u had him! 3rd round you should have punished him for going for the long block that two hit kick win Karin is super unsafe, but you just did a neutral jump when you should have taken pressure. Solid Mika, but matchup knowledge killed u more than smug, I thought you had the more impressive play anyway, though smug throw game was pretty nicez

It's gotta be a lot of work to manually disconnect your PS4/PC/reconnect it the reconnect and get back online. It's a lot of effort over something as trivial as a Street Fighter ranking so that you can play against players you clearly don't have the ability to compete against.

Seems like such a ridiculous thing to do.

I figure when dailies come around all the people who disconnected their way to gold will have a much harder time getting them done than me in the scub leagues. Granted I'm there because I don't have a lot of time and would rather play with friends etc. But there's just no reason to worry about LP right now since it's not like you get an appreciable amount of FM at all.

i've found Mika's bar way too useful to use on super anyway

This.

The more I play her the less it comes to mind during a match, her EX moves are too good to blow away like that.

Some hit confirms for the super:

- After jump in
- After LK>MP target combo
- after two jabs
- One standing MP (single hit confirm)

Remember you can also buffer the super since she has no QCB+P move.

So you can do, LP>QCB+LP>QCB+LP to get the LP>LP>Super combo.

I'm not a good Zangief fighter, but...

-Zangief must be close to opponents, to maximize his power.

-His main struggles are projectiles but he can use the Lariat or the headbutt

-His fierce punch can be charged, and it has armor.

-The spinning piledriver has a shortcut, you can do 412369 instead of the full circle to piledrive your opponent. This is great from defense. It is important to practice this move. If you do this same move, but wait a little moment to press punch, you can do the air piledrive instantly.

-About the CA, well, practice. I can do it only from jump.

That's super helpful. Thanks! Yeah, he got super frustrated against my Ryu since he had trouble approaching. I suggested the lariat but had no idea the headbutt also breaks through projectiles. What exactly would a 412369 input look like?

Man seems like you guys are always on when I'm at work smh...still need to do some sets with good Bison/Vega players, and R Mika is just sooooo fun to play against.

Think of numeric notation like putting directions on a numpad

789
456
123

So for example, a quarter circle forward motion would be a 236. 412369 would be back, downback, down, downforward, forward, upforward

probably server related

Nice, thanks!

oh no! people are posting Moon Language Numpad Soulcalibur motions

the bane of fighting game message boards gettign ruined by Soulcalibur num pads

LOL

QCF people!

hahahaah

So far, I am having good results with Bison minus his lack of defensive options to help on wakeup

I tried Vega, still don't have the poking down. Still struggling

Ken and Ryu, hey, bread n butter. shit works. Ryu has the mean pressure game that requires minimal brain processing.

Cammy, I find her to be clean, clear and extremely user friendly on confrimations and stuff

I hate Nacalli's hair physics, I can't see my animations, dropped him. Fuck him

I've never been good at fighting games but I've always enjoyed them from a casual standpoint as well as watching more skillful people compete in tournaments. Mortal Kombat X was the first time that I actually invested some real time in getting good at a fighting game and even though the enthusiasm was short-lived I had some fun and learned a lot (even made my own combos!).

Was a bit unsure about getting this or not since its lack of content and my awful fighting skills, but after watching some streams I just couldn't resist. At the moment I'm pretty glad I did. I've tried out a few characters, done some training, gotten my ass kicked both online and in survival but I still had a good time.

I started off with Cammy, but felt she didn't fit me all the well (though I'm going to give her a try again later since I really like her design). Moved on to Ken which suited me a lot better. I'm still very new to all the different mechanics and stuff but I can pull of some very simple combos and do some reads. Currently about 500LP Bronze.

My current biggest issues are not being fast enough with the inputs and having no real good idea how to counter people after being knocked-down. Any good basic Street Fighter V videos/tips or Ken related ones would be really sweet.

Just defeated a Mika with a 9 wins streak at the last moment with Bison's CA. Of course he disconnected, but feels good, mang.

It really feels good when you are on the other end lol

So far i've found all characters EX moves to be worth more than saving it up for a Super. Kinda wish we still had a separate Ultra bar :P

Disagree on the Ultra part but you're right. With how quickly you can build super you can often have enough bar to use an EX move or two and still manage to have quite a lot left over.

I often prefer saving up as Bison. His CA is the best anti-air in the game, which is usually his weakness, and if you have 3 EX bars you can do 80% of a person's life bar from two combos in V-Trigger.

Though TampaBison is making me consider using EX Psycho Blast more.

I like it better this way. EX moves usually offer something useful, whether it be invincibility frames or increased combo potential, where CAs in this game are mostly about damage (and if you need to chip kill). Do I use my EX reversal to get out of this tricky spot or do I save up for the round winning CA? It's an interesting balancing out.
