dude 10-6 is far from "youre too good for me"

Im trash. and so are you. we're both trash, we dont know any combos, its like we're playing SF2...

...so its fun lol. How was the lag? I assume you had the same random spots where there was a little slowdown, and then otherwise it was fine? You should still host next time

I definitely suck! Good back and forth fights though. Lag wise was alright for the most part. A couple of minor jumpy bits here and there but it played fine overall. Send me an add on PSN if you like. Same name as on here. Always up for a scrap. Does me good to fight some Rashid's too, I've not come across a lot

Once activated, Rashid's tornado CA can be moved by pressing forward and back. It's kinda like Honda's neutral jumping HP (the stop sign) from SFIV. So if you activate it but you know you fucked up, you can hold back and get ~1.5 training room blocks away from your opponent. Or if you're going for the chip, you can hold forward which will make it difficult to backdash or jump away.

Rashid's CA also hits really really high. Like peak of Vega's barcelona jump high.
Good to know - thanks!

Glad you figured it out.

They should make so rank/lp/winstreak can be hidden until the end of the match. I dont wanna know when im about to face Batman/Rambo/Terminator etc

So far i've found all characters EX moves to be worth more than saving it up for a Super. Kinda wish we still had a separate Ultra bar :P

I actually kinda like how valuable and cool the EX moves are. Makes me think more about using up one bar or saving up a little more for a CA.

WOO! Got my copy last night. The first fighter that I'm going to try and seriously get into :)

I didn't get a chance to play too much because of the 6 gig download, and I didn't want to go through the story thing because I was unsure if the fight money would be gained if I wasn't setup to go online yet.
I'm also on Wifi
. So I spent my time in training and playing around there.

I've never been good at fighting games but I've always enjoyed them from a casual standpoint as well as watching more skillful people compete in tournaments. Mortal Kombat X was the first time that I actually invested some real time in getting good at a fighting game and even though the enthusiasm was short-lived I had some fun and learned a lot (even made my own combos!).

Was a bit unsure about getting this or not since its lack of content and my awful fighting skills, but after watching some streams I just couldn't resist. At the moment I'm pretty glad I did. I've tried out a few characters, done some training, gotten my ass kicked both online and in survival but I still had a good time.

I started off with Cammy, but felt she didn't fit me all the well (though I'm going to give her a try again later since I really like her design). Moved on to Ken which suited me a lot better. I'm still very new to all the different mechanics and stuff but I can pull of some very simple combos and do some reads. Currently about 500LP Bronze.

My current biggest issues are not being fast enough with the inputs and having no real good idea how to counter people after being knocked-down. Any good basic Street Fighter V videos/tips or Ken related ones would be really sweet.
capcom releases basis character vids for everyone, Kens went up recently where it shows you all the uses for his moves and combos.

I'm also a a Ken player if you want to add me. OmniCloud

Fuck man, I had a rough time of ranked last night. After the servers came up I ran into ridiculously good players and lost 400 points, before getting 100 of them back. Ended up around 1500, from 1800.

Also, I had more lag last night after the servers came back than I've ever had in the game before. I had it set to 5 bars only, kept getting players from mexico with insane lag. There was one Mika player where the rollback was so bad that I couldn't even see her jump, she just suddenly crossed me up. Or I'd see one of my mediums hit, and went through with the rest of the combo, then rollback into me suddenly getting punished or grabbed. Just dumb.

I think ranked might not be worth the stress for me. When I play casual mode if I lose it's not nearly as bad as if I lose points in ranked.

We seem to be in a similar boat...
The server maintenance introduced lag to us that wasn't there before...

I had some close matches go against me because when I had the other player dead to rights, I'd hit a spot of lag and the inputs on my next move wouldn't register... So instead of getting an easy link into a CA, I'd get a s.HP and punished to death. FML.

I'm curious as to whether lag is more evenly distributed before:

pre-maintenance, it seemed one player would get a mostly smooth experience and other would have a teleporting opponent beating the hell out of him

maybe it splits the difference now

What do these guys do at RL tourneys (if they go at all)? Punch the wall, throw a stick?

Banana singlehandedly makes the Gief match tolersble for Birdie.

For the guy with a new dad- have him try Birdie. Simplest combos in the game, high hp, big damage.
Can beats Zangief's V-Trigger too.

Not a guy, but thanks! I'll look into some guides for him today, I guess.
I wrote some guidelines for Birdie here in response to someone looking for feedback, if it'll be any help.

When he back-techs, he seemingly has no animation. It's as if a bunch of ants picked him up and dragged him back a foot or two.

I was going to bring this up!

He basically has that Adon wake up bull shit from Super SF4...

The amount of times I've screwed up a set up or a throw on his wake up is unheard of.

I need to hit up training and practice it, and just assume that everyone is doing to do that wake up with him since it's so fresh lol.

Also....vega is fucked. He can be played like a SF4 character. Cr Lk cr Lp cr LP into LK Crystal. You can do that off a cross up too. As if that isn't scary enough he does INSANE damage, and has such easy combos off of so much stuff.

I swear I broke 500 using his v trigger into super yesterday somehow, but I can't get past 488. Even then 488 damage is bananas. I mean his regular combos if you toss in 1 bar can net you 343.

Oh and fuck claw mode. Just remove it capcom. Worthless compared to clawless lol.

Dat feel when you're on Bison in survival and have no health left and get a fight request and accidently press pause twice :-(

So how does an OG Ryu player get better in SFV? I can get wins off people in Ranked/Casual with the same fundamental play that did the job since SF2, but SFV Ryu is in this weird place between SF3 style and SF4 style - so I know my game needs to evolve.

Does he have any target combos, and is there a legit way to train them? Any guides or good videos? Any Ryus want to spar? PSN captmcblack/CFN mistermischief...

Learn to parry, shit is broken good

Fought a Ryu who parried, all my stuff that's normally safe got parried and he were able to punish it

Capcom made a video guide.

GGs Flow... throw more fireballs when on the ground and don't jump as much

Ok all Ken players need to be watching MoMo right now, he's giving that tech some real world use. Things I picked up.

Run after lights, much safer pressure
U can super off a HK Tatsu when Ken is flamed on
U can hit confirm into super from lights

A few days ago I was able to solve my slow motion problem by disabling vsync via the nvidia control panel. However that seems to stop working anymore (as evident in the lack of screen tearing) and I'm getting that goddamn frame rate drops and slow motion every single match tonight! Anyone have any other solution?

Any videos you're referring to in specific? I'm considering Ken as an alt and would like to take a look.

F.A.N.G has pretty much killed my interest in this game. It goes beyond i havent beaten one single player, he just doesnt seem to fit in with the rest of the cast, i just fucking hate that character. I want to just disconnect everytime i see him on the screen.

And before anyone says salt, etc, i havent beaten a single Necalli yet and i dont mind fighting againt that character.

FANG feels designed to frustrate the opponent.

Weird looking, weird sounding, zoning, escape mechanics, poison timer of doom, oh AND good pressure

Hold dat poison in your chest :P
I like fang

That's super helpful. Thanks! Yeah, he got super frustrated against my Ryu since he had trouble approaching. I suggested the lariat but had no idea the headbutt also breaks through projectiles. What exactly would a 412369 input look like?

http://www.dustloop.com/guides/bbcs2/systemGuide/notation.html

Just use the top part, as the rest is GG an BlazBlu nonsense!

Also, when it comes to hitting Gief's Critcal Art, you have to find other moves to "buffer" it into. The most common is a jump, meaning you jump, input the 360's in the air, and then hit punch when you land. You can also input the 360's when you're in blockstun, or during almost any normal move (the forward + mk [the little knee hop? I think?] is a really good one for even regular SPDs). Of course, keep in mind if your normal hits the person the SPD will whiff, so the "Gief-game" is using normals to make your opponent block, then purposly whiff one and buffer a SPD in it.

Take the poison!

Sorry couldn't resist
