I want to main Vega until Alex, but I'm ass with him compared to my Bison.

I'm almost silver playing Bison, but my Vega gets rekt. I think I just need to hit up Silver, then go casuals for a while to learn Vega ins and outs before proceeding to the shark tank again.

Also Vega players/knowledgeable folk:

Claw off mode, the MP HK target combo---does it whiff on crouching on all opponents? I was playing my friend in battle lounge and he was Bison, and it was never a string if he was crouch blocking. This seems like it would be hard to land unless it is off a jump in on like a fireball character who let out a Hado at the wrong time.

Interesting! This is the opposite of what I've heard from other places on the internet. Maybe I'll spend some time in training room and try to start learning Nash tonight.

Birdie is much easier to play than Nash. Easiest chars I would say are Ryu, Ken, Cammy and Birdie.

Nash feels easy to familiarize and learn at first but if you want to play at a medium-higher level the amount of work, making combo decisions, normals and command normals and spacing requires more technical ability. He's more like a giant toolbox with answers for every situation but you have to choose the right tool. It's a lot of work and requring you to stay very active especially when compared to someone like Birdie who can anti-air and stuff people with lethal normals (single button presses).

Just my 2 cents (in fight money)

Focus on the basics first, no need to look at high level matches yet. Just have fun playing against the CPU to get used to the game. Mess around in training mode.

Get accustomed to the movement, see what pokes you like, learn one or two basic combos etc. Just take it easy.
Thanks. I'll try to play casual instead of just spending time in training mode.

Seriously, who thought Bisons forward dash was a good idea? Seems super ridiculous lol. Dude doesn't even need to block my charged hk, just dash through it and do whatever the fuck you want!

If we're doing bad sales math, let me get in quick. Like, according to SteamSpy, 4.49% of SFV's owners are from the UK. If we do a quick 80k*(100/4,49)= sales worldwide, we get 1.8 million copies sold. Boom, success.

Don't ban me

edit: If we do the same for Japan, we only get 860k. Well, what a failure.

edit2: Wait, where's that 80k from? I went with TheSpoiler's number but can't find it anywhere.

My online rank was like 260k at one point last night, and I played some people lower.

So the base is at least above that already.

Thanks. I'll try to play casual instead of just spending time in training mode.

Don't completely neglect training mode, though. Set the dummy to do shit you might expect to see online. I spent about 10 minutes the other night just messing around with a dummy set to DP on every wakeup. It's a good way to find out what works and what doesn't in a controlled setting.

It's a good idea to pop in for a few minutes at the start of every session. Warm up a bit before going online. Do 10 of your specials from each side to get execution down, then spend 5 minutes working on something you need to improve. Like set the dummy to jump attack you and work on anti-airs. Or work on a simple punish combo etc.

I've been doing that and slowly getting better.

I wouldn't say Ken is an easier character this time. Proper use of his V skill, shit normals, learning to shimmy, and limited strings make it work often to open people up.

Replace Ken with Bison and you got it. Bison is brain dead easy lol.

Yeah, Birdie seems really easy to use. I'm either picking up Birdie, Cammy, or Mika today since Gief has been a struggle once I got close to silver(and rode a truck downward to 1k again :|).

I imagine the same person who thought it was a good idea for him to not have a 3 frame normal, the worst walk speed in the game, no reliable anti air and no reversal. Now who though it was a good idea to give Mika buttons on buttons to what may as well be infinite block stun, a one button mixup, one of the best if not THE best crush counter and that ex command grab range? hmm.

So i've got a new RAP 4 Kai coming (with the Hayabusa buttons and whatnot), and the text says that it can actually work in XInput mode on PC via a toggle switch. Is that actually the case? Or am I going to be using an input wrapper like Joy2Key until Capcom fixes stick support and it really only does Dinput?

(I'd been looking for a cross- PC / PS4 stick for a while anyway. I've got Darius Burst and some shooter-arcade-y stuff on PC i've always wanted a stick for, but then PS4 is my console instead of Xbox so I've felt torn between stick worlds)

A saint.

I don't believe you.

I'm from The Netherlands and I believe (don't quote me on this) we have not been annexed by the UK (yet)

However, it is a common mistake to make, much like calling Africa a country, or believing the theory of evolution is a lie.

Crouching HP

Stand HK

All are great anti airs for buttons. On top of that you can do ex stomp on wake up, or to do anti airs.

If pimpson had a better walk speed on top of his dash the dude would be SSSSS+++++ tier.

lol..you absolutely can not do ex stomp on wake up. Invincibility frames dont kick in until he's high up . Cr fierce is decent but slow and situational. Stand RH is not an AA and jab is about as good as anyone else's aa jab..and im ok with that. I think all his shortcomings are fair tradeoffs for the things he does well.

As someone who is playing a lot of Bison, his anti-air's are dog shit. He only has the only genuinely usable button, and that's cr.HP. 9/10 times, it just trades for me. the other 1 time, it gets beat.

His air-to-air is pretty good though, particularly the j.mp

Im a pad player myself and ill say for over 20 years now, but for christmas i got a Hori rap 5 and ill say this been using it since that time, but today i decided to try the pad - what a difference, i can do simple jab punishes into a super, I'm not concentrating on how to use the stick, maybe i should play some more on it but who cares. Think about it, if not blisters you will complain about wrist lol.

Yeah... wrists hurting are a good point. I'll have to consider this purchase.

Allegedly he's strike immune from frames 1-4, but in reality you're still getting hit out of it. And that info is probably out of date, anyways. Long way of me saying I agree with you.

Yes, one of Bison's weaknesses is he's weak to jump-ins, same as SF4.

Get a Hitbox and you'll have neither sore wrists nor sore thumbs. ;)

Just a sore wallet.

Why are there still monkeys, though.

Because new monkeys evolved from rodents to replace the old monkeys that evolved into humans. And new rodents evolved from reptiles, to replace the rodents that evolved into monkeys. And so on, all the way back to rocks evolving into bacteria!

Discovered this video and hit the lab with Laura. Curious to try her out online tomorrow. It took a while to figure out the timing on this but when I finally nailed it lawd. This combo looks so fucking dirty

Yea. I arrived at the same conclusion myself:

That is with NO METER except vtrigger mode. I still hit around 529-532 damage (weird it isn't consistent). I like to save my meter for busting through fireballs or characters with good limbs because her ex elbow charge has super armor.

playing against a good Birdie player is pretty hard. fucking grabs everywhere. it's like Laura except the hits are harder.

Why don't you add his Fighting and PSN handle to the description?

Goddamn it, I need to go to training with this girl.

Japanese PS4 launch week sales numbers- Media Creates

4th best selling game- [PS4] Street Fighter V (Capcom, 02/18/16) – 41,990 (New)

UK launch numbers were below SF4 as well according to some articles (although those were physical copies only) Steam only about 100k copies.

Looks like with all the negative press they'll be lucky to hit 1 million by the end of the fiscal year.... damn shame.

Crouch HP is such a bad anti air, has a really shit upwards hit box and leaves you open for a 30% punish. Bison sucks at getting out of pressure and anti air, jump ins are really good against him and he has to rely on v counter or good defense in the corner. Plus if you can get a Bison player to keep using v counters he wont be able to v trigger and if you bait it with jab you can easily punish.

I'm worried, but also hoping digital is a lot higher...

...but then again, that's usually the hardcore anyways, so..

Holy fuck nuggets. That is REALLY bad... Why couldn't they just have held off a god damn month? Such a stupid move. :/

Yeah, one of us here at work has a pocket Birdie.
He destroyed my pocket Mika today. ;__;
A decent Birdie is reaaaally hard to approach.

I don't know why people would want Makoto back with a character like Laura...lord
As a Makoto player I instantly fell in love with Laura.
It's no wonder vryu or haitani are giving her a chance. ^^

She's not hard to play (relatively of course) compared to the rest of the cast. So don't worry. She is about as easy as ryu or Ken.

Matter fact, Id say she is the "shoto of grapplers" as far as how easy she is.

She needs a small buff though. Man... Let me link more stuff CAPCOM! please!

Because she wears clothes that don't have her (lack of) pendulous breasts hanging out everywhere and has the BEST super/Ultra of ANY character ever.

SEICHUSEN GODANZUKI
That pissed off crotch punch... Ouch.

The damage scales based off their health bar, if you let it refill to full it'll be consistent.

I've played some matches with her to some success, but my game is so one dimensional. Try to get the CC with s.hk, pressure with d.mk -> light elbow, f.hp to get close, fireballs to be annoying. Occasionally doing d.mk xx forward v-skill for some quasi-Abel step kick pressure. But I look at these videos and realize the options she has, and I really had no idea. I've been wasting my stun opportunities with j.fp -> s.fp xx mp elbow, that's for sure.

To those fed up with the quitters, save the clip and put that shit up on YT. Send them said link: Hilarity ensues.

i see most randoms are still ryu/ken. will this ever end? i don't think so.

Staples of SF.

Why would it? personally as a newcomer to the franchise I find the two extremely boring to play.

Been getting my ass beat for pretty much the entirety since getting home, losing to players half my lp, lost 700lp while meeting practically nothing but Ryu and Karin springled with one or two Bison and Nash players.

Meet my first Mika player in a while, and I just stomp her. Should be happy to win, but man, I'm just depressed about it lol...I cannot beat any character right now other than my own, so fucking sad :(

What's the general approach for command grabs in SFV? It's not like SFIV, where you mash 360s and vacuum someone into a Storm Hammer from a body-length away.
