I kind of wondered initially if the Asscreed art was a photobash sourced from the same image as the Uncharted one, but it doesn't seem like it. Hrmm.

Time to boycott ND. Stealing again? Smh first they rip off tomba raider and Indian Jones and they move on to Ellen Page, Kandyse McClure, and finally Ubi. Now they done go copying my boy Dennis darko. ND culture us out of hand.

That's totally Gyllenhal though. Dunno if I spelled that right.

Incredible that this can even happen. Its not like ND don't have extremely good artists of their own.

It's more like there's either one lazy ass artist in their studio or from an outsourced studio who put this in. Obviously few people are going to be able to just see that picture and know that it was stolen from the AC artbook.

Does anyone here really think that this is intentional on the part of the studio? Obviously it was intentional from the idiot who put it in.

People actually acting like they give a shit is whats hilarious

In fact I don't give a damn about the "theft". Big companies stealing amongst them, big deal.

However the way people here so easily accept the fact or outright deny the theft... man, I thought we were a little above this.

If Nintendo or Retro fuck up I don't go parading how good they are or how it must be a coincidence.

It's always easy to make predictions like these.

And I doubt they're ever true either.

Come on now. Let's not act like people don't treat studios like ND and CDPR just a tiny bit better than they do Ubi.

Assassin's Creed downgraded "oh my god how dare they"

Witcher 3 downgraded "hardware limitations guys"

why are some people here defending this

sipping that naughty juice a bit too much

If ubisoft or activison pulled this EVERYBODY would be on their shit

Reposting from the other thread.

Jonathan Cooper is an ex-ubisoft animator. He joined Naughty Dog and said some stuff about his previous employer when the female assassins thingy came to light.

Now with this news, an Ubisoft Montreal dev (creative director) tweeted this to him

He waited two years... all for revenge.

Alex Hutchinson is on some NeoGAF necrobump levels.

Still can't touch Mortal Kombat (3 years) XD

I would love to have a window to a parallel universe where Ubisoft were the ones that ripped off some random art from an Uncharted game. It would be like "opposite day".

If it's an important they should have made their own; if it's not important they should have laid 10p for an inconsequential piece of art.

As I'd they clearly did use someone else's work. I doubt Naughty Dog are in the work of paying for theft so whoever did it is probably in a bit of stick.

Yawn. This whole story will blow over in a day or two after folks get their bitching/mocking/snark out of their systems. ND will apologize. The artist responsible will get reprimanded. Employees at Naughty Dog, Sony and Ubisoft will all move on with their lives. Uncharted 4 will not be delayed any longer due to this, and will go on to get rave reviews, sell many millions, and win multiple GOTY awards at the end of the year.

Sure, I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm disagreeing with the notion that they're wouldn't be any defenders or that the entire thread would be jumping down Ubisofts throat.

There's people who shitpost on GAF. This comes as a surprise to no one.

And you must have missed out on the Witcher 3 downgrade thread. There were plenty of people on both sides.

How do you not know they haven't been given permission.

People need to chill.

I highly doubt they got permission for one jpg. It's obviously a lazy dude who thought he could slip this by people.

Well he slipped it by ND but obviously not the internet.

Being that an Ubi rep tweeted it, I would say there is a very slim chance of it being OK. lol Anyway, no way any company is going to let another game use their artwork. "Exposure" as someone called it, is not a good thing. Getting paid money is a good thing. Exposure is a bullshit ploy to get shit for free.

While I do agree with that, I would say it might be harder to license out the actual art, unless they literally used the same photograph and the colors are the same...

I guess it's all murky at this point until someone says something (which probably wont happen anyway).

anything but this...You'd care if you had your artwork being lifted for something else without your permission...at least if you did anything creative you might care.

A lot of fuss over a stupid picture. I don't think people know how the art process work. Imitation and style plays into it. And let's remember that sometimes maybe artists don't realize that their art is actually resembles some on in real life. Like the doctor in MGSV.
looool

Exposure doesn't even make sense since there's no reference that it's from AC.

Heck if they got permission you would think the Ubi guy would have known better than to brag about it on twitter.

Lol, they got YOU and tons of other people talking about it. They done did good. Now people will watch who weren't interested in the game and probably end up playing it.

This is an obvious eff up by ND but I am not going to get my pitch fork out. This seems like a shared asset blunder or an artist who copied his neighbors home work. That doesn't make it ok or remove any of the negativity but I do think people are overreacting.

I mean, I played the Homefront Beta a few weeks ago and it was literally Far Cry 4 reskinned. I didn't see anyone in there blasting the devs for "stealing" from Ubisoft or calling out the devs to cancel their game out of embarrassment (The game itself did that but that is not the point).

It's been brought to light and will likely be dealt with by ND. in a few months all that will be left of this mishap will be these amazing Meme's and GIF's :)
