Microsoft to hold Xbox & Windows 10 Media event Feb. 25th

Thanks, I try sometimes. :). I don't like putting out infomation that may be incorrect. Unfortunately for Paul he won't be going to the event himself. I'm guessing Brad Sams is, and I think Daniel Rubino is as well or someone from Windows Central.

Rubino will be there for sure. He usually hits all these events.

Yea, I thought I saw a tweet from him saying he was going tbe in SF.

Yes, leaks or even simple countdown tweets from Major Nelson. Seems like no one is trying to hype up the show yet.

Well, leaks usually happen as you get closer to the event and more people know about it (so that the leak can't be pinpointed and someone loses their job). Major Nelson probably won't do a countdown tweet since they have to focus on these spring games first. Patience, we still have games and other announcements before E3. GDC is less than a month away.

Are we gonna be able to live stream the show?

No. This is a press-only event. They will be under NDA until March 1st. Aaron Greenberg stated the date on twitter (I believe someone linked that in this thread). So you'll get the information that they get next Tuesday morning on various publications, probably around 9am est. That's the usual time those things end (I remember that was the time QB stuff came out)

Oh well... here's hoping for a Forza PC announcement then.

It's not going to be streamed so no announcements.

But hoping to see PC footage of Quantum Break and Gears UE.
Not expecting Gears 4 on PC confirmation just yet, but if they wait too long they will be criticized for not having been honest from the start.

You feel let down because you didn't read the OP properly?

Fucking Microsoft.

No, I feel let down because Microsoft is always on the verge of doing great things for PC, but then they just hold it back. This event would have been the perfect opportunity to FINALLY put the cards on the table and explain their strategy for PC gaming, address the concerns people have with the Windows Store, maybe confirm a couple more major titles like Gears 4 an Scalebound. But no, here's a closed event just for the press with a one week embargo. Great! Let's all agree that this is a good thing because it's in the OP. From what I've seen in this thread I'm far from being the only one who thought this would be streamed. People assumed it would be because it felt like a huge fucking no brainer from the start.

They will announce in March the release date of a major PC game that will release in March. "Fucking Microsoft" is right.

Hahahahahahahahahaha, jeez, I can barely even be bothered with any of that.

If Microsoft were going to have a big event that was going to be streamed etc, don't you think they would have made a huge fuss about that? You have built up the event to be something far beyond what you were told it would be and what the event was intended for and are now pissed about it. Incredible

Xbox threads are so much fun aren't they!

I'm not pissed, just bummed, something for which I'm still not sure why you're taking issue with. Good for you that you don't care about any of that. I do.

Well there could be a simply press release though. :)
Maybe we get some more BC titles today. Dark Souls is overdue.

Isn't this event allegedly focussing on WIN10 ports of X1 titles, some UWA's coming to X1, crossplay+crossbuy model, streaming both ways etc. ? Yeah, Dark Souls backcompat does make sense now, but they can do that on a Saturday too. Maybe even announce a pre-order freebie with III. Would be surprised if they announced it at this particular event though, as it's both, press-only and PC centric.

That's why DS is overdue because you get it free with DS3 preorder. That was announced last week and they said you receive the code within 7-10 days and it's longer than 10 days now.

It's within 7-10 days of th game's release

In defence of those others slightly disappointed about not hearing news today, I've been following this event since it had been announced and only this morning learned there was any kind of NDA or restriction on public access to what is being shown. Like many, if an event is announced for 25th Feb. I assumed that I'll know what's announced/discussed on that date.

Slightly frustrating, but there we go.

I guess we wait.

I expect many leaks if there's anything of note revealed, ie more Xbox games coming to PC.

I don't really see how that fits honestly, this event is for the spring lineup and nothing else.

Unless those hypothetical Xbox One exclusives announced for PC would be coming this spring but I can't rationalize that.

So yeah nothing to expect on the PC front save for maybe Quantum Break PC gameplay/impressions and Gears UE.

I mean... companies do press briefings all the time... "come play our latest game, then we give you a week to write your articles while it's under embargo"... Nothing unusual there.

Any frustration at MS must just be down to incorrect expectations at the outset. Otherwise people are basically saying that every press event for everybody should be live streamed, and embargos should be banned.

Windows 10

I mean... it's not just PC, it's Windows 10. That's what MS are going for, unity through Windows 10 no matter what platform. You play a game on one Win 10 platform, you continue playing on another. Buy a game on one, play it on another.

I think the best thing about this is that MS will be able to make more money off this to invest in more games. Quantum Break releasing fully on Windows 10 and not just the Xbone may single handily fund Alan Wake 2.
