Far Cry Primal |OT| The Land Before Towers

HHmmmm, on the big map you mean? I did see the bear icon on the big map. Don't know about minimap, because I just disabled it. I actually disabled it all after Karak and someone on this page recommended it. The only thing I have on is the reticle and I might change that but since some of these animals are anything but easy to kill, I might keep it like this, haha. Oh and on screen controls, interaction prompt, found items readout, crafting indicator and collectible updates are on. But all else is off. Let's see how this goes.

I really commend developers when they put so many options in their games. Witcher 3 and The Division come to mind as well.

Yes, the big map. You probably looked at it while it was day and then when you arrived it was or got dark. Some animal icons disappear at night, meaning you will not see them until day. But I have not hunted bears at night yet, so I am not sure if they are there or not.

I don't think you can man. But I love how hurt animals actually leave bloodtrails and when you follow it, you'll soon either find them running away or their carcass.

In FC4 if you used a grenade on wild animals or a molotov, their skin would be damaged and of no use. While realistic, I never really liked it and it more hurt my enjoyment of the game. It's great that this is not in Primal. So use them fire arrows on them beasties guys, no problem.
See above (last page). Quest related footprints are visible, just very hard to make out sometimes until you know what to look for.

Test it with vision. The print is there even after you disable it. Not as well done as blood trails, but still there.

Make sure you're looking for them in mud patches and such though. They arent in the grass or on hard surfaces. :)

If you guys mean you can follow the footprints/blood without Hunter Vision then yes you can.

It's DAMN hard but you can do it.

Ubi's games are virtually the exact opposite of mod-friendly, however Far Cry 4 has an "immersion mod" that disables a number of visual aids, so I'd say the chances of someone being able to disable the desaturation effect are quite good.

Yep it will be done. Its like the one thing most of them have in common is a mods desire to remove that shit lol

Capturing an outpost at night, pure stealth, tension is running high...there's a lot of enemies...

...I hear grunting...

I approach the sound and see two enemies doing it doggie style inside a hut.

This game.

edit: jesus fuck it was an enemy doing one of MY people. dark.

Wish nighttime was longer .

Should start in 20 or so minutes.

I really wish this were an option for the other difficulties.

Agreed. Actually I like all of the Expert mode changes except for the health and damage nerfs. I may try it and see if it feels OK, but I'm on hard already and that seems plenty difficult.

The one thing they shouldn't have done was make all human characters show up as yellow highlights in hunter's vision. It's hard to tell friend and foe apart.

Rare animals aren't unique, right? I just killed a rare dhole, I wanted to tame him, fuck.

So what animal are you guys using? I am still using the White Wolf, such a cute pet. :p

They are not unique. Some recipes require multiple rare animal skins! Dumb winter clothing.

I'm rocking the Sabretooth as a sabrecycle.

Came across some loot behind yellow smoke. Hurts me when I go close.

Any idea?
Poison resistance recipe? Is that a thing? Or maybe burn it out with fire?

Idk haven't encountered that yet.

Edit: hey maybe you can send the badger to loot it? Dholes will loot stuff, and the badger is immune to poison, idk if they can loot though.

ahhh back from the west coast. tired as a mug and about to pass out, but put 2 hours in... man, this game is great. hard as hell, too. wandering through the world is so much cooler than I expected. haven't made it much passed the Shaman area (ya like 5% of the map), but I already FEEL this world way more than any other Far Cry. headphones, hard difficulty, no HUD does wonders. good looks to Karak for bringing that to light. loving it so far, hope it doesn't get monotonous. think i'm gonna nap off this jet lag and get to hunting tonight.

Quick and ditry thoughts from my first 5 hours. I absolutely love the game and the setting is a breath of fresh air. Anyone who actually gives the game a chance will see very early on this isn't simply Farcry with a new skin. Thoughts below...

-world is beautiful and feels very alive due to how natural the animals behave both unaware and aware of you.

-the nighttime cycle can really bring about some tense moments. Seeing the glow in a wolf's eye as he watches your next step is quite unnerving.

-it honestly is really nice to feel vulnerable and have to actually consider resources before jumping into a tough encounter.

-the language created for this game along with the vocals sounds absolutely great and not awkward or misplaced.

-dying light is one of my favorite games from last year and I really enjoyed using the bow in that game. With that said I am getting the same amount of enjoyment using the bow in Primal. It feels really visceral and satisfying to pull off headshots.

-the community aspect is nice and fits the setting. Its not as expanded as say fallout 4 where your placing individual walls and such but enough is there and the reward for advancing your camp is well worth it.

-I don't feel annoyed when gathering supplies to craft arrows or spears and such. Again it fits the setting and everything is snappy enough that you can gather, craft, and use said arrow or spear all in a matter of seconds.

All in all I am really enjoying it and don't regret buying day one. I haven't even gotten to mess with the taming aspects so I'm sure that will only heighten the experience to a new level.

I was never a huge fan of 4 but am absolutely loving this. It's a gorgeous game and fun to play and discover new areas. The quests are a blast and using the bow and arrow is fun as well to be sneaky. I'm so glad they chose this settings...this is basically what I was hoping BC would be back in the day

Far Cry Primal's pre-load went live a little while ago. 16.2GB install/11.5GB download.

If that sounds small, it is: Far Cry 4's pre-load was a 31.77GB install/21GB download.

Steam version, to clarify. Uplay may or may not be lagging behind.

Hey guys, what am I supposed to do with the Tribal Clash events?? I activate the quest but I don't get a waypoint or anything showing me where to go.

Two things....

I was in the middle of a quest, and at one point I spotted a cave but I can't go explore it, because that will fail my mission. I wish they would let me go there though.

But then I thought.... Let's mark this place on the map for later. But there's no option for that. It would have been nice to have that like GTAV has and I think FC4 had it too? Not sure on that.

Did Ubisoft finally get rid of loot chests or are they still in this game in some form? I remember opening the map in Far Cry 3 or 4 and seeing hundreds of icons.

No loot crates. But you may find a sack with resources in it that you can actually use. No currency and no junk to sell, lol. It's the stone age.

Damn. I gotta see this for myself. Haha, I'm probably not far enough yet.

I think exploring Oros is almost worth the price of admission alone. It looks wondrous even on PS4 - Primal is the best looking proper open world console game especially when you consider it has high IQ and rock solid FPS most of the time. It has the densest forests around

Close to your own village is a cave and when you go further into it you will reach a part where it's full of poison and you die if you go there. I assume we get here later on?

Man this game is pretty damn awesome.

Unlocked my beastmaster skill, tamed a white wolf and almost immediately after ran into a rare pepe striped wolf. It feels really cool stalking through this crazy dense forest with this awesome beast by my side.

Just now I had to hunt some deer for an upgrade, and I was creeping through the tall grass listening for deer sounds, trying not to startle them. Really felt like I was hunting. I also love following the blood trail after I shoot an animal, really cool that they don't just drop dead as soon as you hit them.

Also the atmosphere at night is crazy, it's pretty scary to see the glowing eyes of a pack of wolves in the darkness ahead. Fortunately my pet wolf scares other wolves away, which is an awesome mechanic. I like how there's danger everywhere, you really feel like you need to be on your guard.

Some things are a bit iffy though. Random encounters happen way too often, there are Udam patrols almost literally behind every tree. I also feel that the stealth isn't as "safe" as it was in Far Cry 3 and 4, I've had several moments where I expected to be hidden but was spotted nontheless. And I just ran into some infinite spawn bug where Udam kept spawning endlessly like some weird horde mode. Everytime I killed the group, another would appear. I just ran like hell after depleting all my resources, not sure what happened. My game kinda borked I guess, there were people spawning all over the place and my wolf kept pissing everywhere. It was so bizarre.

Other than that I'm really enjoying myself, more than I expected.

No if you have enough health, you can just run through it. There a bag on the other side, didn't give me anything especially good though. If this is the cave you're referring to anyway.

I got this too at same random camp fire. Three guys just kept spawning over and over again. Between the Udam and wildlife you are pretty much under the attack 24/7 if you don't have your pet out (they scare away a lot of the beginner beasts).

Kinda curious where this game stands. I thought it was a bit like Blood Dragon, as in an unrelated standalone and figured it was going to be Blood Dragon price range but it's priced like a full release. So what's the deal? Is it as full sized as the usual Far Cry games?

I had the glitch at the second bonfire that unlocks, it's basically on a small mountain-ish area? Not sure how to descibe it, it's basically a straight line east from the village.

You could, you know.. read the OP?

. Random encounters happen way too often.

I've read this a few times and it kinda bums me out, I'd be playing the game for the immersion factor and if you can't walk a few feet without some little drama playing out it gets old real fast and kinda just makes the world feel small. FC4 was awful in this respect.

Started this up today. Only played about an hour so far. Seems pretty good so far, but I am clearly just learning how to play. The setting is cool. Looks great too.

Idk, you can hear things going down all around, but there's still many moments that give you breathing room. I spend a lot of time riding the cat around farming and it's very wide open, not too hard to avoid contact.

I will admit with some shame that I cannot play without the mini-map. Turning off all other hud elements has been great though, especially the reticule. That really changes things in combat.

I actually think they came up with a pretty good balance in this one. Maybe a little bit too busy, but that's better than being barren and lifeless.

Holy shit there are crocodiles/alligators in this game? I just jumped in some water and got eaten. I was so shocked I missed the QTE! XD

I feel like that's only the case at night when all of the predators are roaming around and you're basically walking bait

I was just walking around and I used the hunter vision and spotted something yellow in the water, so I get closer and I see the croc underwater, one arrow made short work of that. :)

Batman vision ruins another gameplay moment...
